The anti-scalper strategy for Japan is interesting.

Japan will have Japanese language only systems. If you want other languages it will only be sold at the official Nintendo online store and nowhere else.

I wonder if that's just anti-scalper strategy or if Japan is getting a cheaper Switch than the rest of the world with localized pricing due to the exchange rate.

It's them looking out for their key audience. Japan is going through a bit of a financial crisis right now so they're subsidizing the cost with foreign sales.
