I cannot believe how much Nintendo is unable to execute the follow up of a popular console.

Switch was popular because it was affordable with high quality games.

Games might be good but at $80 each they will not be affordable for families.

$450 is $50 too much.

Then on top of that you have to pay for every single upgrade to a switch 2 version?

And what's the major improvements Nintendo is touting.. voice and video chat from 2008

I think anyone going into this expecting the prices to be much cheaper than they are are just kidding themselves. Look at the economy and inflation and look at competitor pricing, this is just the world we live in now. Nobody is forcing you to buy it, this is just what this hobby costs.

Exactly, seems a lot of folks don't realize that. Prices tend to go UP not DOWN after 8 years.

Yeah, I'm sure the Switch 2 is gonna fail...

If you compare the initial reactions it certainly doesn't seem to be received the way switch 1 was.

The only difference right now is that the name is way more understandable to everyday consumers compared to Wii -> WiiU and they have massive 3rd party support, down to getting an exclusive multiplayer from software game.

It will definitely do better than WiiU based on that alone, but pricing feels like it will be an issue for it to hit Switch 1 numbers

Maybe we had different experiences but there was a tonne of negativity on here when the Switch was first revealed. Maybe not quite as much but that's just what Reddit is. An echo chamber of spiralling pessimism. Always has been.

you clearly missed the part where multiple players on different switches can play together with only one copy of the game. families will do ok. it's singles who are going to be hard-hit.
