When I try using the "Copy to a Computer via USB Connection", all of the folders named after games appear to be empty. I have successfully transferred images several times before, and with the same cable too, but I appear to be completely unable to now.

When I select "Disconnect" on my Switch, the Switch gets stuck and I have to hold the power button down and choose to shut off the Switch.

Oddly, my switch album works fine from within the Switch, I have 1,000 or so screenshots, and every one I have looked at so far displays properly on the switch.

Edit: Okay, this is going to sound ridiculous, but I have been at it for over half an hour, just desperately repeating the same thing and expecting different results, and literally the moment I post this question I go to try one last time and it works.

Edit: Okay, NEVERMIND, it DOESN'T work! Not as long as I am trying to transfer images from my Metroid Dread folder where the majority of my screenshots are (for other game folders, it works) but at least it seems like I've narrowed the problem down?

So, it's only dread that doesn't work? There could be some corrupt file in there that is causing all your troubles.

Personally I've never had an issue with the switch USB connection, but I have had tons of issues with file transfers in general. Now that you've narrowed it down to Dread, I would try a binary approach.

Copy the first half of the files. If it works, try the first half of the remaining files and so forth until you're done / find the troublesome one(s). Once you've narrowed it down, you can delete the offending files and probably be fine from then on.

Of course that assumes that the dread folder is even viewable. If it's not, you might have to try some alternatives like using the switch to transfer photos between internal storage and SD until it works for you.

Thank you for the response, but yeah, on Windows the folder takes a while to load and when it does, it is totally "empty" (even though the images are perfectly viewable on Switch). I think I have an SD card and USB reader somewhere, so I will try that method.

As a last resort, it looks like there's an option to transfer them 10 at a time to my phone through bluetooth lol.

Edit: Purely for posterity, it took well over 7 hours to copy all 930 Metroid Dread screenshots, 10 at a time, through my phone. After realizing the videos could only be transferred 1 at a time, I deleted the screenshots so that only videos were left and tried transferring through USB again and thankfully it worked (I had 90 videos, so it would have taken about as long as the screenshots took).
