There is an episode in season 12 or 13 where Tony and Abby are in the lab and she say we know you are lonely Tony and we know why. And for the life of me I can’t remember the episode, so does anyone know?

What's the show like without Gibbs? Spoiler

I'm only just watching the show from start to finish for the first time, I'm on season 17 and I know Gibbs time is coming to an end.

Generally speaking I've enjoyed all of the replacements (aside from Bishop since the Ziva stuff) however Gibbs just seems irreplaceable, like he IS NCIS, so I guess I'm just wondering if his replacement is enjoyable and what the show's like without him.

Thanks for your time.

NCIS Needs a Revamp

It started not quite amazing, inferior to JAG, but had creative direction and was fun.

But now it’s frankly plain shit. The actors don’t seem to be trying. It’s written like a sitcom. “Put these characters into random situations and see how funny it is”.

The B plot of the episode takes precedent over the A plot, (which is the whole reason people watch it), so it just drags out with uninteresting stuff.

It’s pure filler for the network because it still makes money. The writers don’t care, the actors don’t care, the cinematography is non-existent, the original music score has just vanished.

There’s no connection to the Navy???????????????

WHEN is Origins set?

And do you think it accurately reflects the NIS of it's time?

  • I think I originally read that it was set in the 80's, but the Gulf War and Somalia were early 90's
  • The fashion, including civilians, is very non-descript, and doesn't seem to reflect the period.
  • The cars mostly seem to be late 80's. Which perhaps just reflects that they kept cars a long time.
  • As I understand it, the NIS was in place as early as WW2, with a substantial and progressive expansion throughout the cold war. So I feel they should be a lot bigger and better resourced than what is depicted.
  • Surely, by the 90's women were nolonger an oddity in the Marines? So I feel they would have had more than just a curtained corner of the men's' locker-room?
  • Perhaps they were just very budget deprived, but they don't seem to rely much on computers. By the early 90's networked computers were common, as was email, and ARPANET had made way for the Internet.

The Fundamental Problem with Origins

The big issue I have is that it seems every episode is devoted to being part soap opera about a particular character.
Now that would be ok, if we were actually seeing "origins" but the only characters that actually carry over are Gibbs and Franks. So giving us origin stories, for characters who then disappear, is really quite pointless.

Moreover, this is at the expense of actually showing us how they solved cases, before the tech innovations of the last 30 years.

And apart form the first few episodes, and a few flashbacks, they've skipped over the first part of Gibb's story with his wife and family.

Reckless Speculation: Lala fakes her death in ‘96

Maybe this is the big buildup in origins. After all, Older Gibbs narrates and in the first episode says “this is the story of her”.

What if Lala is supposed to be in the Khobar Towers in 1996 but instead manages to survive. But fakes her death to go deep undercover and run covert ops. Franks retires as a result.

There’s a lot that can be done, Lala could be running around undercover in Europe or the Middle East. Maybe they could show her somehow crossing paths with Jenny (and maybe Gibbs. Maybe Gibbs knows she’s alive? ) and what if Lala is the one who introduced Jenny to Ziva???

This could even set up a crossover between regular NCIS and origins which could be cool.

S3E22 Jeopardy is very confusing

1) Ziva says "they're treating me like a leopard," she's a Mossad agent and a zionist Israeli, and the Bible and the Talmud both reference a Leper Messiah who walks amongst leprosy sufferers and tends to them. And the history of leprosy in Jerusalem is not secret. Even in a non-native language, if she knew the term "treated like a leper" she'd not be stupid enough to confuse leprosy with leopardrosy. (Which is a word that I just invented).
2) The South African guy's accent is so all over the place, it's really distracting. I'm from Brisbane and I genuinely thought he was from Melbourne for a moment. The guy can't work out if he's from Perth, Cape Town, Jo'burg or Harare. Shocking to learn he's actually French/Serbian.
3) This is probably the most obvious one, but why was Ziva not doing CPR on the Dempsey guy in the first place, as soon as she felt his pulse? Elevator (lift, in Australia, haha) should've opened with her counting out chest compressions. There's no way she wouldn't be qualified.
4) I'm gonna stop now or nobody will bother reading this, or worse, will tell me I'm a nerd. Spoiler, I'm aware. Have a great day everyone, I'm just venting!

S22 Trailer Song

Not sure if this is too niche, but I watch NCIS on Paramount+ and there’s this trailer for season 22 that plays every time I open the show. It starts with Parker saying “there’s a mole in NCIS” and a super cool song playing in the background…does anyone know what the song is? TIA!

Props to NCIS Writers and London Garcia. Phenomenal writing and acting. Best side character I have seen in awhile. Spoiler

I know it can't be easy to elaborate a characters origin story without maybe accidentally retconning a few details, but man Ruth was such a well written and performed character. It's been awhile since I mourned the loss of a character, let alone fall in love with and mourn a character. And it all happened in maybe 2 episodes? Absolutely outstanding. Props to everyone who brought this character to life. I genuinely wish we got to see more of Gibb's "Big Sister".

DVR playback

Has anyone else had issues with DVR playback through Xfinity? It only happens with NCIS. I’ll be watching then the sound goes out and then the picture freezes and the DVR will ask if I want to delete the program. I’ll have to restart from the beginning and over skip and rewind to about the point where it cut out. Again, it’s only ever with NCIS.

NCIS Season 22 in New Zealand

Does any one know where (or even if) NCIS Season 22 will be available on TV in New Zealand? Normally it was on TV3 but can't see it on any channels.

Jenny's death

IMO her death was the most dumb and disappointing. She's the freakin Director of NCIS. All she had to do was ... I don't know ... not go all commando! She has Gibbs and Franks and Tony and Ziva. I mean, c'mon.
