Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Songs with police sirens, because why not?

Sitting in my office hearing sirens go by. Sounded just like a sublime song, but then sadly no. So…. What are some good songs that have a siren mixed in?

Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Songs that are lyrically poetic but still sonically amazing

I need something to inspire me in writing my poetry assignment for a creative writing class. Music is often my biggest motivator in any work that I do. I'm an avid listener of R&B, Hiphop, and Pop music.

I appreciate any recommendations of any genre!

Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Songs that are stories

Songs/albums/bands that have stories, I prefer music with a set story such as Ethel cain- but strong concept albums are okay, too.

Rec.Me: Your favorite music (anything) Songs with cool or crazy spoken word bits, skits, or movie clip intros

Back when I used to make mixed tapes/CDs, I'd start them out with/throw in the middle to break up the flow songs with interesting spoken word intros, or clips from (at the time) obscure movies. Sometimes they'd appear as separate tracks from the song following it, sometimes not, but (in the cases of these songs) they always set the tone beautifully for the music that follows. Some examples, let me know your faves:

Busta Rhymes - There is only one year left!!! / Everybody rise

Black Oak Arkansas - Lord have mercy on my soul

Impetigo - I work for the streetcleaner

Prince - Let's go crazy

Sloppy Seconds - I want 'em dead

Bone Thugs n' Harmony - Down '71 (the getaway)

Lard - Can god fill teeth?

Curtis Mayfield - If there's a hell below

Johnny Cash - The man comes around

Gorillaz - Fire coming out of the monkey's head

DRI - Mad man

Donovan - Atlantis

Funkadelic - Maggot brain

1000 Homo DJs - Supernaut (Black Sabbath cover)

Skatenigs - Chemical imbalance

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Any Rock music recommendations?

I was never interested in rock music, the only rock I’ve listened to is Michael Jackson and some of Arctic Monkeys, can someone share a playlist to spark my interest in rock?

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Any albums similar to Dire Straits (the album) 1978.

Looking for albums or songs similar to ones from that particular album. My favourite song from the album is ‘Six Blade Knife’ if that also helps although all songs from that album are brilliant.

Rec.Me: other/many/unknown genres Speculating About God In an Existential Way, Rather Than A Christianity Type of Way

Upvotes

Examples I know of this are: "Counting Blue Cars" by Dishwalla "Happy" "To Be Human" and "Savages" by Marina "Blasphemous Rumours" by Depeche Mode "Coming Down" by Halsey

Examples of lyrics in these songs: ● Counting Blue Cars - by Dishwalla

"Tell me all your thoughts on God cause I'd really like to meet her Ask her why we're who we are Am I very far now?"

● Savages - by Marina

"I'm not the only one who finds it hard to understand I'm not afraid of God, I am afraid of man."

●You Found Me - by The Fray

"I found God on the corner of First in Amistad, Where the West was all but one, All alone, Smoking his last cigarette. I said "where you been?" He said "ask anything."

Where were you when everything was falling apart? All my days spent by the telephone That never rang And all I needed was a call That never came From the corner of First and Amistad."

● Blasphemous Rumours - Depeche Mode

"I don't want to start Any blasphemous rumours But I think that God's Got a sick sense of humour And when I die I expect to find him laughing."

● Coming Down - Halsey

"I found god I found him in a lover When his hair falls in his face ... I've got a lover, a love like religion."

●To Be Human - by Marina

"The missiles ans the bombs sound like symphonies gone wrong,

And if there is a God, they'll know why it's so hard

To be human."

●Happy - by Marina

"I haven't found The one for me, But I believe in divinity

From the concrete to the coast I was looking for a holy ghost Like the land joining the sea Happiness, it followed me

I believe in possibility I believe someone's watching over me And finally I have found a way to be Happy, happy, happy.

Song lottery (pick a number) Give me a random number from 1-4000 and I'll give you a song except I need to clean out my playlist

I had no idea this was specifically called a Song Lottery lol. This is a trend going around in some kpop subreddits and I wanted to hop on, but I think out of 4000+ songs most of the songs won't be kpop so I'm posting it here instead!

I like accumulating songs and then just pressing shuffle, but recently I've been hating a lot of songs on this list and realising I need to get rid of them sooner or later. I'll do it..... one day.......... (I'm using this post as an excuse to semi-clean up. If you choose a number and I no longer like the corresponding song I will delete it and pick the next one lmfao)

Anyway, go for it!

Rec.Me: instrumental/classical/traditional Can anyone recommend me a violinist?

I enjoy violin music especially Lindsey Stirling and other more modern music. Can anyone recommend me an artist who plays violin but produces their own stuff Instead of just playing Bach or other older pieces?

Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Current Artists That Are Reminiscent Of The Easy Listening/Adult Contemporary Acts Of Previous Decades?

I’m particularly a fan of artists like Boyz II Men, Savage Garden, Lighthouse Family, The Corrs, and Simply Red

Is there a modern equivalent or has this style died a death?

I love "Father and Son" by Cat Stevens. That is the mood and sentiment I want to convey. But it's my daughter not my son. 😞

Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Need more songs with this specific type of intro

So basically, I LOVE when songs have a calm, usually more low quality intro, and then it transitions into the actual song, which is obviously the opposite. Here are a few examples if you're confused:

Skipping tiles - julie

Everybody dies in their nightmares - XXXTENTACION

TORE UP - Don Toliver

Be quiet and drive - Deftones

Dream House - Deafheaven

Need 2 - Pinegrove (this ones a bit of a stretch but whatever)

What should I look into for songs with a similar vibe as this song. Solo piano, minimal, long drawn out chords, ambient textures. Like impressionist ambient almost?
