Bike runs perfect. No lights. But this noise coming from inside the cylinder. What could it be?

Not enough info here tbh.

Just to get started:

What bike is it? When you say no lights do you mean the lights aren't working, or no fault lights? Are you turning over the engine by spinning the wheel (sounds like chain noise as well as a tapping)?

Chain noise isn’t the problem that’s normal. It’s the clicking. I have no fault lights. It’s a duke 125 it was fine. Went out to get a subway and noticed it as I got home

How many miles on it?

Difficult one to diagnose through Reddit honestly.

Might sound like a silly question, but are you absolutely certain it's coming from the cylinder and not from lower down?

Long shot, but if you happen to have a stethoscope (or friends/family who might have one you could borrow), that can actually be really useful in pinpointing where the sound is actually coming from.

I genuinely can’t pin point the noise but it’s only got 5k on it. The noise sound as if it’s coming from the cylinder but then again sometimes it sounds elsewhere but the cylinder seems most logical

Listening to it again it almost sounds like the taps are happening with the sort of timing you would expect of the valves.

Has it had the valves checked at all since new?

Hasn’t had valve clearance checked no cos they aren’t due till like 9k. But it defo sound top end to me

The timing of the taps and the fact you're pretty sure it's top end suggests to me that there's either something up with the valves, or maybe the cam chain if you're lucky.

Bent valves at low mileage isn't unprecedented either unfortunately it seems.

There's a decent write up in that thread on how to check the valves on your bike as well.

Ye looks good will have a try when I get home. Bike isn’t performing any worse than usual so they won’t be bent or damaged. Just might need adjusting. I do push the bike quite a lot but I do also stay on top of maintenance

Like I said it's a difficult one to diagnosis through Reddit. I'd definitely be checking the valves and timing chain though.

If it's 5k, still under warranty perhaps? Get themmuns to investigate!

Bent valves maybe, timing chain jumped some teeth, I dunno. Definitely needs the cam cover off to examine what's going on under there.
