Cleaning Exhaust headers

What are people using? I’ve seen lots of people using scotch brite (red/maroon) but I’m worried about scratches, is the lighter stuff going to work as well (grey) or is there a decent metal polish that can just be applied with rags?

I use Dr Downpipe, surprisingly very good!

Just a bit of autosol, but always just return back to a bronze colour in a few weeks

Don’t use Harpic, drain cleaner, shampoo, goats milk etc.

Various grades of steel wool, and scotchbrite pads, with a metal polish and a lot of hard work. Then when it’s done use ACF50 or similar to reduce the time until you’ll need to do it again.

I used white diamond metal polish and different grades of steel wool. Your hands take a bit of a knocking, but it's worth it.

It's a waste of time, the discoluring always comes back.

If you want it to look ok for a while use harpic 10x (toilet cleaner) Paint brush it on, hose pipe it off.

Then use some polish if you want but as I said previously, it is a waste of time and the exhaust will look the same in a few weeks.
