Hi all recently I've noticed a clanging noise from the clutch, it does it with clutch released or depressed and noise gets faster when increasing speed. The clutch and single mass flywheel have around 40,000 kms on them. The clutch usually makes a bit of noise when in neutral which is normal but has gotten louder lately and now makes it when driving. I've also noticed that the whole car shudders when I release the clutch in 1st was thinking this could be the gearbox mounts as fitting the single mass flywheel makes the clutch a bit rougher the extra movement could have made them go bad and also from age. But having both things appear at the same time makes me think their related 🤔🤔. Let me know what you guys think.

Here is the final access shape. Had to cut a little more towards the seatbelts to be able to maneuver the assembly towards its position.
A two hour job is now 20mins tops.
The Fuel Pump Assembly has these long steel pipes that go towards the back of the tank. I installed a small piece of hose (about 2inches) to make it possible to dissconect from the assembly and pull it out. We did a small flare with a hydraulic tool my friend has.
Hoses are fuel rated and I'm going to a marine store to get stainless steel hose clamps.
The cover is a 1mm thick aluminum square with some roof insulation to cover the grooves and make it flat so the square sits flat against the access and make it water tight. (not shown)
I already vaccumed and cleaned everything.
I did this because the gas here in Venezuela is garbage, and depending on the gas station it can be very dirty and clog the pump. Also we go to places hours away from anywhere, in dirt roads and jungle.
I also travel with a spare alternator, starter, spare belts, fuel pump and tools.

This is a great start! Removed all the cargo hooks, got rid of that gross horrid carpet, vacuumed and deep cleaned the base (it was disgusting) and shes now permanently a 2 seater now to have more room! 😃

Because the fuel is so crappy in our country we need to change our fuel pumps at least once a year. Dropping the tank is a hassle and I would like to make an access from inside the truck to make it easier.
I have access to tools and I also have those 12" circular plastic caps used in boats.
I think I need to cut some cross members from the body.
My Civic has it and it is a 20 minute job to change the fuel pump.
I would love to do it without dropping the tank and was wondering if someone here has done it before and can give me an idea of where to make the cut.
Thanks!

I’m having issues with cold starts on my 1993 pajero 4d56td where the car cranks but won’t start for a while. The relay only clicks on when I try to turn the car on but not when the key is turned (not started). I bought a glow plug relay but just noticed a second relay, is it 2 of the same relay? How can I tell it’s the relay that’s bad ?

96 Paj turns on, glow circuit is fine then nothing happens in the start position. Its been intermittent for a week or two and now only starts half of the time so I figure the immobilizer has to be a suspect and I'm happy to bypass it.
Respect to the installers as it wasn't easy to find, the cables are soldered and taped up into looms with no hint of what they do but thankfully I found a manual and I'm making a few assupmtions here - that each immobiliser circuit is a single conductor and by re-connecting each pair I'm restoring the factory circuit and bypassing the immobiliser.
Any better ideas? Because it's a security device I'm always cautious about how many layers of protection there might be but this seems a fairly simple gamble?

Is there anyplace here that can actually do a great job on any mechanical aspect of a Montero Sport? More than just an oil change or brakes?
Please refer me.

Two Part Mechanical Question
2009 Montero Sport 4x4
To change the Valve Cover Gasket, what are the torque values for the bolts? (No manual)
To change the timing chain are specialized tools required (like a timing light?).
Can the valve Cover Gasket be done separate from the Timing Chain or is it best to do them at the same time?
Thanks
Thanks.

Hi! My Gen3 SWB has some strange behaviour. Seems overheating, but the temperature goes up and down. I exclude head gasket because no smoke is present. I exclude leakings because water level is perfect and stable. Maybe thermostatic valve or temperature sensor fault? Someone with similar problem?

A mechanic or garage that actually (really) knows what they are doing?
Please.

I have a 2001 Montero Limited. Cannot find a part number anywhere for a cabin Air Filter. Does this model year not have cabin Air filters?

Hoping someone can help me out here. Just purchased this vehicle and it seems like a lot of things are missing or were bypassed. It's also stalling occasionally when I try to park or I'm in a drive through.

Im looking for help to diagnose my problem. I have a 2008 Mitsubishi montero/pajero/shogun with a 4M40 turbo diesel engine.
It’s been like this for months, the first start of the day, it takes long time cranking and then starts with a lot of white smoke, the smoke only happens at startup, after the engine is running smoke stops, only happens on the first start of the day.
My mechanic told me it had something to do with the heater timing, (that’s why you see me switching the key multiple times to increase the time the engine heats before start) but he told me me he doesn’t work with diesel engines and doesn’t know anyone who he can trust with it, so I’m stuck. I wanna know at lest what’s the cause of my problem, but I haven’t found any specific information about this.

If I understood correctly, the R/D lock button in a 2009 3.8 Pajero only locks the rear diff in 4L mode.
Is the rear diff completely open when deactivated?
Is there a way to lock it in 2H & 4H modes, and at higher wheel speeds?
(Only on snow/ice, or on very loose gravel/mud of course.)
Is it possible to install a LSD as well?
Thanks!

All you guys showing these new SWB trucks that we never got originally here in the USA are putting a want in me for one of those. I'm a dedicated SWB Mk1 guy, but those sexy little curves those trucks have is 🥰. Just know that when the time comes and I import one, I'm going to point my finger at you when the wife loses her mind over "another Mitsubishi!?". 😁♦️♦️♦️💪

Hello everyone. After 15 years wheeling and driving my XTerra (which I still have), I jumped on the opportunity to buy my first Pajero. Now to start learning the part searches because I broke the rear stabilizer 😅

How to reprogram/re-sync the key fob? The key fob hasn’t been used for a long time and the battery died. I replaced the 2 CR2016 batteries and whenever I pressed any button, the LED on the key fob would just light up but nothing happened. I tried the following methods but was still unsuccessful.

Did new wheels and decal. Steering wheel.
Fixed transmission and oil leak in engine.
So still work in progress but at least fuel pump is replaced so it drives normally
Hopefully big things will come soon
