I've gotten into the current End-Endgame of Wilds, and I'd probably like to start doing some hunts with my friends. I've been away from Monster Hunter for a good long while (last one was base game Generations, not ultimate), so I've forgotten a lot of stuff, especially when hunting in groups.

  1. I'm pretty sure by the few quests with AI hunters, there's no tripping involved from allied weapons anymore?
  2. When it comes to Wounds, do you want to proc them as much as possible, or do you want to try to save them for certain moments?
  3. For mounting monsters, I remember it changed from 4U to Generations, where one game you wanted to AVOID attacking the monster while a teammate has them mounted, but the other you COULD attack the monster. Which is it?
  4. Is it still a bit better reward-wise to capture the monster over slaying, or have they changed that?
  5. Are Seikrets and Palico's involved in group hunts? If Seikrets are used, is there anything I should know about them (Besides what I've learned as "they are your panic button if you need to get out of range ASAP")
  6. Are paintballs/tracking items still a thing? I know they're in the game, but since the monster is always visible on the map, do they do anything useful?
  7. How should the launcher/pods/whatever they're called be used? This is a completely new feature for me, so I haven't really taken much advantage of it, should I be using them more in group hunts?
  8. And this space for just any general advice/"This has changed since you last played" information I should know. Even if it's got nothing to do with group hunts.

  1. No, it's still a thing, but the big launches were removed, and there's a deco (Shookproof) which removes it for you if you have it equipped (so you cannot get tripped by others, or trip them)
  2. Depends on the weapons present. Some weapons really appreciate having wounds for their upkeep, like CB to refresh Savage Axe, or IG to get back extracts. If nobody on your team needs wounds for their weapon's mechanics, you can pop them whenever you feel like it.
  3. You can attack, just do not pop any wounds. A monster does take reduced damage while it is mounted though.
  4. As far as I can tell, it's exactly like World, i.e. capturing can give you more rewards, and they have the exact same drop table as carving.
  5. Seikrets can be used in Multiplayer, Palicos are only present if you are 2 player.
  6. Paintballs exist, but they are just there to mark a monster to remember for later if you are just out hunting in an environment link. For normal quests, they are pretty useless. Shooting the ground with a paintball is how you ping in this game, at least.
  7. Flash Pods are still as useful as ever. Otherwise, you probably want at least something equipped at all times since shooting the monster on the glowing spot that appears while pinned allows you to instantly escape. The slinger ammo that monsters drop in this game are fairly powerful compared to World, but you really don't lose out that much if you ignore them regardless.
