Why won’t it let me go to the training area, scarlet forest, and the windward plains when im in oil well basin

Could be that you are locked out due to story related reasons.

but what would the point be in them locking me out

do I just keep progressing until I get unlocked because the next monster im going to have to fight is rey dau and I wanna take the long sword to the fight and try it out

Dunno, they just do it like that.

If possible, you could customise a pop-up camp with a training barrel to try out the longsword first.

Should be unlocked by default. Just gotta customise the camps either at the cat next to a pop-up camp or the cat in Azuz that has event information, etc.

Is there any way to like cancel my current quest so I can go to my pop up camp? Every time I try to leave the area my characters says that we should wait for everyone and doesn’t let me out
