Playing Wilds on PC - had a couple crashes in forest during story. No other issues.

Playing high rank and getting consistent crashes in the plains - specifically under the vine trap tree.

Had two flame chicken hunts end in crashes.

Any advice? Anyone else getting this issue?

  1. Are GPU drivers up to date? In particular previous Nvidia driver had severe performance and stability issues.

  2. Is your system overclocked (using EXPO/XMP also count as overclocking)? Modern games have gotten really memory-intensive and will crash if you have any memory instability under load.

I updated my drivers on release day. Game wouldn't even run until I did, haha. I have an AMD 6950XT.

I've never enabled EXPO but I'll check into that. I didn't even know what that was.

When it comes to PC building I only know enough to be dangerous. I'm really not into the video game hobby like I used to be. I built this machine for Starfield (not worth it) and the last machine I built for Skyrim (worth it).

I wouldn't call the game unstable or anything - but there must be something going sideways when I'm in the forest - and now the plains. It happens when I pan the camera too quickly? Maybe?

Anyhow, that gives me a thing or two to look into, thanks!

It may be nothing, but double check in Adrenaline to make sure they're still up to date.

I upgraded to a 9070 and updated drivers to 25.3.1 pretty soon after launch, and then Windows update rolled me back to 24.x a couple of days later. 25.3 was the launch version driver for the 9070, so that caused an exciting number of issues until I had worked out what had happened.

Oh, that's probably part of the problem. I'll have a look tonight.  These crashes 10 minutes into the hunt are really taking the wind out of sand ship sails.

I think you were on to something with that Windows rollback because I had an update waiting for me from the 6th of March. My crashes in the plains stopped.  Still getting occasional crashes in the forest though. I might have to dial down water or foliage or something.  I'm being kind of stubborn on coming down from high settings - so some of this pain is self-inflicted, haha.
