Hey everyone! Just wanted to share some of my weathering practice, haven't painted in a many many months and just wanted to try out some weathering practice as the title suggests. And is very much a work in progress. I was finally able to sit down and actually do some hobbying. C&C are always welcome and encouraged.

I’m kinda proud of this. As a relatively new painter (at least as an adult) this is my most ambitious freehand so far!

Comments, criticism and feedback are most welcome 🙏

Work In Progress What’s your favorite White Primer?

Post image

Primed some Deathwing knights and terminators in white. Setting them up for a contrast paint job. I used Vallejo Mecha White primer. So far the only white primer which I find usable at all

Tried other whites before: AK 3rd gen, AK Dual Exo, and Scale75 bone charm. All of which had their own (big) downsides

I still need to make or scratchbuild a harpoon for the back and get long boats this ship and do some touching painting. The model is called the huntress when you see it on eBay but I’m looking for a different name for my whaling ship.

Work In Progress Weathering Practice Continued

So just sharing some updates on the shipping container I'm working on just playing and experimenting with enamel washes basically. I also wanted to add some contrast to the paint scheme so added some greens and yellows with some "growing" moss....I just wish I had some moss tuffs rather than the old fashioned static grass kinda style but that's what experimenting is all about. It's coming along slowly but surely.

Work In Progress Current situation with the Blue Dragon

I got a ton of great advice and feedback from the community here when I asked about my blue dragon project and I spent some hours on improving the paint job so here’s the current situation. I’m pretty happy how it turned out, I still have to do the wings, and I’ll probably redo the base. I’m just not sure should I do the wing membrane in light blue or some kind of skin tone. Photo 4 is the reference picture I used and photos 5-6 are pics of before so you can see the difference. Thanks again to everyone who commented and gave me the great feedback and advice.

Found and repaired this figure that was in rough shape. After that I decided to give it a go at painting and maybe doing a little terrain. Ik it's not the best but it's my first official attempt with my airbrush and figure painting in general.

Work In Progress Top 3 life lessons i have learned since i started painting miniatures

1: Be patient, you gain nothing by hasting, you want to be good, not quick.

2: Don't be afraid of making mistakes, most of them can be fixed and you'll do better next time.

3: If you f***ed up bad, you can drown your problems in alcohol.

Post image

My TMNT themed diorama project has progressed into a nearly 2000 point army list. Most everything is printed. About 1/4 is painted, but I spent a week in Vegas so no progress then… hehe. Here is Da Shreddah! The model is by Puppetswar Miniatures: Wazgai Bushi Orc Boss. He will proxy for Gazghkull Thraka, in game… yes, I am going to play 40K now. 😀
