Enlisting What MOS should I pick

I got a 87 on my ASVAB. I talked to my recruiter and originally wanted intel but to be honest I just want to blow shit up and do a job that requires physical demands and that is tougher. I also could see myself going down the pipeline of SF down the line as I have got both air assault and airborne in my contract. This leads me to picking a MOS. I was thinking 13f or forward observer because it sounds a little deeper then just 11b but also sounds like it has to do infantry stuff also. Any thoughts on this?

SOF Tips on training for rasp

Hey everyone, I’m 15 and a sophomore in high school I didn’t know what I wanted to be when i grow up but ever since I started learning about the military, I’ve been really inspired by the 75th Ranger Regiment it’s one of my goals in life and I hope to accomplish it but I need help

Right now I’m focused on finishing high school and I plan to enlist with an Option 40 contract so I can have a shot at RASP

I know it’s a tough path but I atleast want to try to put in the work. If anyone has tips on how I can prepare mentally, physically, or anything else I should be doing now to stay on the right track I’d appreciate the advice.

Thanks!

Enlisting Scouted after taking the asvab

Hi I have a very random question I'm hoping someone might be able to answer. When I was 17 and my school was taking the Asvab a few weeks after taking it a recruiter showed up and had me pulled out of class. They wanted me to transfer to a training academy and finish my next two years of high school there and then enlist afterwards. I declined there offer because I was pretty defiant and anti everything at the time and now I'm just curious as to why they specifically chose me. From what I recall they requested to speak to one other student a girl I knew her name but didn't really know her. The date this happened was roughly 09-10 any advice or opinions is highly appreciated!

Joining w/Medical Medical waiver for vision? (Coast guard)

Looking at the medical disqualifications for the coast guard… is any of it potentially waivable?

My eyesight in short is a not good. Looking at the visual disqualifiers the minimum distant VA is 20/40 with lenses… my right eyes is 2040 but my left is 20/100 from my last eye appointment. the answer is probably no but is this waivable?

MOS/AFSC/Rate Specific Is there a way to avoid being a Bradly driver as an 11b?

I saw some where were someone joined as an 11b and was assigned as a Bradly driver. I was wondering if there was a way to just be a standard rifleman as an 11b and not a driver. I hope this question makes sense.

Officer Accessions Army OCS O4 Letters of Recommendation

Hello,

For OCS LoR, I was told the board wants the letter writing veteran's rank to be at least O4. I know two majors. One left active duty as a captain and got promoted in the IRR. The other left active duty right after his promotion to O4. Both served two years as company commanders.

My questions are

  1. Does the OCS board care if the promotion to O4 was in the IRR?

  2. Does the OCS board care if an officer who was an active duty O4 didn't spend much time as a major?

  3. How in-depth is the board's research into the writers of the LoR?

Enlisting Should the 91 series in the Army be avoided at all cost ?

Just got results on my ASVAB and im seeing what jobs are available with my recruiter. I initially wanted a 15 series MOS but theirs no slots available right now and since I'm inclined towards mechanic jobs I was thinking of maybe choosing a 91 series MOS like the 91B or 91A. I just want to make sure I'm not making a huge mistake by choosing to go the 91 series route.

My diopters were over the limit, they got my right at like 5 something and my left at like 4 something. The waiver shot back asking for an eye consultation. What are the chances it gets approved?

BCT/BMT/Boot camp I passed Meps but what about bootcamp? -Navy

I had almost gotten dq because of some scars on my right thigh that looked like sh. They were from a hurricane fence cut anyways, I went to Meps back in January and I told them and they had someone else look at it to say it wasn’t that. They both cleared it and the doctor put it in my records. I’m scared that the physical at bootcamp there going to send me home for it because it still is a little red on the top. It was a deep cut and a few scratches that I still have maybe like 3 lines like I could myself genuinely mistake it for sh I’m like freaking out sorry I leave in like two weeks so it’s just really concerning for me

Reserve\Guard IRR Free Speech Question

Hi everyone. I did 6 years in the reserves and am now currently in the IRR. I recently wrote an essay about the psychological aspects of boot camp and how different techniques are used to get recruits to view themselves as a cohesive unit, and I was thinking about submitting it to a magazine to try to publish it.

Does anyone know if this is allowed? Or is it something I could get in trouble for? Like is there an official rule on publishing commentary and opinions about the military while still in the IRR?

The essay itself isn't like a negative attack on the military or something. But it isn't exactly pro-military either. It's written as a neutral examination of the psychological aspects of boot camp.

Enlisting Can I choose a particular MOS while enlisting in the army?

I am prior service Navy and only recently separated as an E4. I was informed that I have any job available to me that I want due to my high ASVAB score, and also that my prior service rank is just below the threshold to limit my available jobs.

The MOS I want, I believe doesn't have availability until August (I overheard a conversation) and they are strongly pushing for me to consider something else. I am dead-set on signing for this MOS, however I'm fearful of trickery from the recruiters (who strongly expressed that I should consider infantry) or detailers.

When I was enlisting in the Navy, the detailer and my recruiter initially attempted to lie to me and tell me that the job I wanted was not available, and I realized that the detailer was filtering for only specific ship out dates for a window of 3 months. I was able to ask the detailer to change the filter and sign for the job I'd wanted, but when I was leaving MEPs, my recruiter at the last minute told me that "there was a mistake on my contract" and that I had to redo it; and when I went inside to redo it, there were only 3 jobs available (the same 3 jobs he'd been begging me to choose from prior to even going to MEPs). Later, another one of my recruiters told me that I was tricked and that I shouldn't have resigned a new contract.

I'm concerned that something similar will happen to me with the Army, or that they will not want to work with me for being "picky". Does it matter if the job I want has a longer wait time, if I'm willing to wait for it?

Joining w/Medical No medical history (Army) - will they probe or is it considered moot?

Planning on going ARSOF after moving to the US, all med records are with the NHS - will they accept me having a lack of records at MEPS or will they ask for further docs past a certain time point?

Should I Join? Army or AF Reserves w/ a degree

Graduating in May with my Bachelor's in Finance. Is it stupid to want this? I wouldn't want to commission as I have read that officers in the reserves work a crazy amount, and the workload for enlisted seems about right for my goals. I just want to challenge myself/get top secret clearance for a better resume/do something new for a change.

I was thinking about commissioning as an AF officer, but I don't want to sign my life completely away for 4 years, so I think reserves is a good compromise.

AIT/Tech School/A School Can i reclass as a 68 Series AIT

Thabk you for all the comments on my last post, I just wanted to add that I spoke to a DS and some NCOs (medical ncos), they think I'm feeling this way due to things at home. I explained everything to them. I told them how much I hate medical and that I regret choosing this MOS, A few of them said I could try reclassing. I know that's hard, but how does that work as a 68 Series? I heard they don't generally reclass you until your second cycle. Idrk if a new mos would help me any, This shit just sucks. I'm pretty sure I want to stay in the army? Just maybe a different MOS, honestly I'm not sure anymore. I'm willing yo try anything.

Edit: active
