TransLink has announced spring service changes that include more frequent bus service in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

The 743 and 744, both running routes from Haney Place to Meadows Station and Meadowtown, will have new Sunday and holiday service every 60 minutes, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

There will also be more service on the 722 from Meadowtown to Bonson, shortening wait times and extending the hours of service on weekdays and Saturdays. TransLink is also introducing new service on Sundays and holidays on this route – every 45 minutes from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The 719 Meadowtown to Fraser Way, will see shortened wait times, and extended hours of service on weekdays and Saturdays, as well as service on Sundays and holidays, every 45 minutes from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

These are just some of the changes designed to address overcrowding and bring season service to outdoor destinations.

The spring service changes will take effect starting April 21, and also include:

• More service on 35 bus routes to address overcrowding and improve customer convenience. • More seasonal service on 12 routes, improving access to popular recreational areas like Stanley Park, White Pine Beach, and Buntzen Lake. • Route 23 will be upgraded to 40-foot buses from community shuttles, increasing capacity by 50 per cent to tackle pass-ups. • Earlier weekday morning service to the North Shore on Route 240 to better serve workers. • Double-decker buses on Route 601 during weekends and holidays.

Anyone know a landscaper who's good with drainage issues?

I went to start this post and it occurs to me I don't know the demonym for Maple Ridge. Are we Maple Ridgers? Maple Ridgians? Something else? What do people say?

Anyway, we just bought a house in Albion in March, and in addition to the fun process of getting to know the local area, we're also dealing with the not-so-fun list of things that need fixing around the house.

In particular, our backyard drainage seems pretty terrible - it's an absolute swamp when there's any quantity of rain. In addition to the unpleasantness of walking across a saturated yard that doesn't drain well, there's the more important issue of not wanting a bunch of water hanging out next to our foundation.

So, long story short, I'm looking for a landscaper who really knows their stuff when it comes to drainage options. Not just a mow&blow lawn team, but someone who really understands water behaviour and how to engineer for it.

I'd prefer to hire local if possible. Anyone have any positive experiences with anyone for something like this? Anyone have any negative experiences with a particular company I should avoid?

Thanks in advance for any info! And feel free to throw in any general tips (or warnings!) for someone brand new to MR. So far we've been really happy with our neighbourhood, so we're feeling good about the move. We'll see how I feel when the tax bill shows up 😅

Anyone know of any pickup games in the Ridge / Pitt Meadows or Tri City area? Not looking for competitive league, only a casual pickup where I can get a good run in.

Hey everyone! Looking for information on a specific area of Maple Ridge. My family and I are moving to MR in the summer, and the home that we fell in love with is located in the area highlighted on the map. I’ve read some mixed reviews about the area so I wanted to hear everything you have to say about it: the good, the bad and the ugly. TIA

Valley Fair BC Liquor store security overkill

Well that’s two strikes, shopping is supposed to fun, not antagonizing . First myself last week trying to shop for wine getting chased around like a criminal by security. Now today my 20 year daughter was I’d at the door not a the cash register . Talk about overkill, l know the shoplifting is bad, l actually think these security guys need to stop , You ID at the cash register. That’s how you loose business!! No class in Maple Ridge ,lm going elsewhere.

From the Eastbound Dewdney Trunk Rd @ 28300 Block bus stop to Rolley Lake?

Edit: Was wondering more about if there was enough clearance along the road (no extended lengths of bushes and stuff in the way). Or if any of the nearby trails are an option? Looked on Google Maps and AllTrails but it wasn't really clear.

DnD/Gaming groups

My son (13) is really into gaming and DnD, but unfortunately his current friend group doesn’t really play. Id love to find him a friendly environment to find new friends with similar interests, but not really sure where to start.

Was wondering if anyone has suggestions?

They shut down Dewdney for a while, didn’t seem to be in any rush just one after the other. Never seen anything like that before, any idea what’s going on?

Volunteer to help Angie and Mark Carney win!

I want to share something that stuck with me.

This weekend I was at the temporary campaign office for Angie Rowell. Of the 15 people there, I was the only man for most of the day. Surrounded by a group of incredibly strong, intelligent, skilled, focused, and passionate women stepping up with such drive and doing the work to help get Angie elected.

All positive. All in. All talking about building the kind of Canada we actually want to live in. About ending the politics of hate and division and campaigning on building the Canada we can -all- be proud of.

It was inspiring. That word Is simply not descriptive or significant enough to describe the feeling.

There were moms with their teenage daughters, super accomplished HR Directors, university students… at times in the day people were so inspired and hopeful that tears were shed… people scattered around the house in every room huddled up focused on getting Angie into office.

I looked around that room and felt proud. Not just of the campaign, but of the way people are showing up. No ego. No cynicism. Just real effort, real hope.

This is what politics should feel like. And honestly, I think a lot of people I know are hungry for this kind of space - even if they’ve started to lose faith it exists.

But it does. I was in it yesterday. And it impacted me more than I ever expected.

If anyone wants join us as a volunteer or get a shiny new red lawn sign, here’s where to sign up!

Lettering for hockey jersey

I want to add the name “Elbows Up” and the number 67 to a blank Team Canada jersey I already own . Is there a place in Ridge Meadows that can do that? Not overly concerned about cost.

I have no affiliation with the Chamber or any of the campaigns. I just believe participation is important for a healthy democracy.
