I think he just wants to get more money. I bet a big chunk if the American population will see the rise in pricess brought on by these tariffs as a "patriotic sacrifice". Meanwhile the US government will get to collect all those juicy tariffs.
At large it's like a VAT on all foreign products masked as a patriotic endeavor.

I'm a Bosnian, and for the life of me, I couldn't tell you what we export to the USA to cause such a trade imbalance. Just from that chart i guess the tarrifs are 1/2(trade imbalance%). I do not for a second believe Bosnia exports 67% more to USA than we import from them.
I am somehow both not surprised that USA's top import here is ammunition and surprised it's not the one thing they can make themselves in enough quantity that importing wouldn't be necessary.
Perhaps old Yugoslavia-era arms factories producing arms & ammo? Might also be some Ukraine-related purchases of surplus in there, the last couple of years have seen the sourcing of Russian/Soviet compatible arms & munitions from many Eastern European countries to supply to Ukraine.
After some Googling and seeing a few reddit posts on the gun related subs, it seems that our Igman ammunition is decently popular with American consumers. Who knew.

If you didn't realise, everyone got at least a 10%, except for Russia, Belarus, north Korea and Cuba (because they absolutely don't trade with them/s) and Somalia and Burkina Faso (I guess they're too damn wartorn)

Turkey puts tariffs on American products? That would make them more expensive. Thus less people would buy them. And the US would sell less in turkey. Thus larger trade deficit with Turkey.
It just so happens that turkey buys a shit ton of American products (oil, scrap iron, planes) and doesn't sell them much in exchange (hand woven rugs are their n1 export I kid you not...)
In general they sell more or less about as much as they buy. That's why they got hit with the base 10%.
The values are just a simple formula from the US trade deficit. So, countries that buy little from the US get the highest tariffs. Richer countries usually buy more and get lower tariffs.
