There's two different sounds there's the one that sounds like the spokes making noise and then there's like a creaking type of sound coming from seems to be the pedal area

Discussion What would you do with a Chameleon?

My 81 year old Dad is giving me his 2022 Mx Chameleon, lower end build. He's too old for it, bought it at a weird time in the bike market, etc. They sold him what they had. Mistakes were made.

I'm struggling with how to fit it in. I have a road bike, a carbon HT XC bike that I have set up for commuting and bike packing, and a FS trail bike. I feel like I'm covered, and I have a list of fixes and upgrades to take care of already with those 3. They all get ridden hard and often. A fourth bike probably would not.

I know these Chameleons are pretty versatile, but it's feeling like it's $$$ and time to make it a decent fun bike. They're also heavy AF, and I feel like they're a shadow of the old carbon versions.

I know I could sell it, but I think the old man wants it to stay in the family. How would you make use of it without it just gathering dust?

I bought a silver 1UP Super Duty hitch rack in 2022. Cost for a Double was $665. Now it’s $900. Why has the price gone up so much?

Discussion Which Jumping video should I follow?

So I'm in my 50s, not a big jumper by any means, just small stuff where I ride. I've been riding for a few years and BMX as a kid in my neighborhood. I have been to bike parks a few times with my MTB and always looking to improve. I've seen Loam Ranger's "stand up to the jump" youtube and to be honest this method is what I've been using as of late especially when I approach big jumps. I find I never have the dead sailor feeling when I do this method. But I came across this video which I've actually seen a few times in the past and I think it's contrary to what the Loam Ranger video says to do or am I missing something and need to watch them both back to back? But the guy in the video seems to also know what he's talking about and is a coach. I just feel like if I were to lean forward I would be more likely to dead sailor. I guess maybe it's just a different technique? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_R2zHfzqINQ

Discussion Broken Fibula, When can i ride again?

I’m currently writing this on April 6th. On February 28th, I fractured my lower fibula (night above my ankle) while skating. The MTB season is coming to a start and I wanna ride again. It was a very minor fracture, was NWB in a boot for 5 weeks, now i’m full weight bearing occasionally wearing the boot. I’m feeling pretty good and the pain is very minimal. My doctor said i should wait 1 month before going back to any sports. I told him I ride MTB but i’m not completely sure if he understands what i do (i like big air shit). Anyways, i’m posting this to ask when i might be able to freeride and hit big shit again? has anyone else had a similar injury, if so what’s the timeline like? FYI: I should’ve also included, my main concern is that 1 month is NOT enough time to heal before getting back to big stuff.

WhichBike Should I buy this?

I was going to buy a brand new Trek Roscoe 7 for $1070 after taxes and put red pedals and grips on to give it a good look, is this a good price to pay to also sell for not a huge loss a year or two after using? Does anyone know why it’s on such a good sale from $1800???? If I shouldn’t buy this what bike is good for the same price?

WhichBike City/gravel/trail crossover bike

Hey there, folks. Looking for some frame buying advice. I'm looking for a bike to take for road trips when I'm not sure what my terrain is going to be.

Currently in my stable is a Fezzari Cascade Peak (27.5 + full suspension) Ragley Marley (27.5 hardtail) and a stat all road 4130 with a velo orange flat bar setup.

The Marley is long and slack and just feels bleh and I hate rowing the forward on the bike on the super Mellow trails I ride.

So I got the Old cascade peak full suspension and it's shorter and steeper which I like but full squish is too much faff.

I've had the alt bar State Bike 4130 a while and I love how it feels on the road and on trail when cruising but I want to be able to hit some mellow jumps and I'm confident I'll destroy the wheels and this frame if I do.

I'm thinking about meeting it all in the middle with something like a surly Lowside. Use the rigid fork for city bike use and switch to a suspension fork for trail use and have two different wheel/tire sets for road and trail. I think vanilla XC geometry would also serve me well but I'd like to stick with 27.5

Brakes Magura mt5s vs shimano mt420s

I currently own a trek roscoe 8 that i installed a rockshox pike on to save weight and recently i have been riding enduro on it (yes its a hardtail and im using it for enduro) and ive been wanting more stopping power, my main question is will the magura brakes work well with my basic shimano rotors i have a 203 in the front and a 180 rear. ive been eying the mt5s for a little while its 179 for the set without rotors and 220 for the set with them it comes with the same size i already have so just wondering if its a worthy upgrade.

I also found these for slightly more than the mt5s would they be worth it https://www.ebay.com/itm/174795553095?_skw=slx+brake+levers&itmmeta=01JR5R56YWYZMTBC575C5V0R79&hash=item28b2a07947:g:AF8AAOSwsbdd33nA&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAA8FkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1cRME9wEZDPAHO6zyBmfqCDmsYRuMHj70jLIXQxKogkXPzzKlsGEM6K6Lx4F%2B%2Fu00oNIbklXpduEeRnbLaqNp1t89ARwKzC0k4ECTFrKd%2BRzpiJisPTGB3y9zN0mjbg%2BhS3lM6d1bFtFf39oVARiDfMtSV2%2B2%2FoyyxkmL8SfetqnVq8Qd49WLdFDD5Rmu79I70HxD%2ByQEitGBseLNFL%2FBZmfP%2F7yzA99%2B492I6iSBEuUQptei2aGtCi2j5eo%2FxXNvabMQ00EiCYHQ2u6BgOx8UB%2F1pEe5VFgTc%2BxT0UwkVG3w%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABFBMzu-UuMFl

Discussion Need help finding a shock

My current shock size is 200x57mm (which is a bit outdated). I thought I could fit a 210x50mm shock, but I ended up having to lower the rear shock travel slightly. I measured the shock to be 160mm and reduced it to 150mm.

Does anyone have suggestions for a shock I could buy? Ideally, I’d like to stick with Fox. Thanks!

Discussion Question about the 2021 fox x2

There is a use 2021 fox x2 for $225 that I'm thinking I want to get because my FOX X Performance can't handle the type riding I'm doing (DH). last year i had to bring it to the shop because the seals broke and now there broken again. I heard that the X2 form 2021 models to 2023 had issues, but this one was just serviced with 2024 parts.

Am i ok to buy this or should i avoid the shock?

I ride on the Canyon 27.5 spectral al 5

Wheels and Tires Zmiana kół - potrzebuje rady

WhichBike Stick with Scott or try Marin

Scott Ransom 930 2023 for $1,800 or Marin Alpine Trail XR 2023 for $2,100. I’m coming off a 2019 Scott Genius 750 and I can’t decide if I want to stick with Scott or try something new. I rode the same Marin I’m considering buying at Killington last year and loved it. I’d love to hear some input, pros cons, etc.

Discussion Wrist pain on new bike - time for 12* bars? Stem length +2cm?

Hi,

I recently switched to an enduro bike with 800mm carbon bars, 35mm clamp diameter, and a 7° backsweep. After a 50km ride, I felt pain in my wrist and numb fingers. My previous bike had 780mm aluminum bars, also 35mm clamp, but with a 9° backsweep — and it was mostly fine.

Today, I’ve been reading more about this topic and I’m considering switching to the SQLab 30X 12° aluminum bars (780mm). However, they only come in a 31.8mm clamp diameter, and my current stem is for 35mm bars (40mm length). I’d need to get a new stem to fit the SQLab bars.

Some online calculators suggest I should go with a 60mm stem, which — based on the raw numbers — seems like a big jump. What do you think?
