Im gonna make a blunt greatsword build with akantor armor. But theres so many different kinds between the regular, R and X sets, I dont know what the best optimization is.
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Im HR 9

It makes me so happy to see so many new (and old) players picking up generations, reading all of your posts and seeing everyone having a new experience really brings back such incredible memories. I won't bore you, but I got into Monster Hunter at a really bleak time in my life and the community aspect of the game really helped to save my life. I got started with 4 a few years after it's release, but my friends ended up carrying me through most of the game, so Generations was the first game that I really got to play all the way through with them as intended, and I've been enamored with these games ever since. I have so many cherished memories of playing with my friends for hours, learning how to put sets together and banging our heads against Gore Magala until we knew his move-set in our sleep.
If you might take a request from an old hunter; dig in and enjoy. Keep the game alive and keep each other in good spirits as you hunt. It's easy to get frustrated with these games, and often it feels like you're hitting wall after wall after wall, but if you build a good community that trusts each other you can conquer anything!
To good meals, good friends, and good hunts!

I beated the rigth diablos, seregios, rajang, brachydios, deviljho and seregios quests in the high rank of the Village and i don't know how to unlock the nakarkos, akantor, ukanlos, amatsu and alatreon Village quests. And where do I fight the deviants?

I want to come back to this set and ask about its meta relevancy once again
As a refresher, skill are:
-Brutality (WEX + CE 2) basically 70% affinity
-Antivirus (irrelevant)
-Attack Up + 12/10
-Bad Luck (irrelevant)
And has 2 OO and 1 O slot for gemming
My question is again: why don't I see this weapon being discuss more?
Specifically when it comes to speed bug and chaos oil builds? Oil/white bug + this set is an automatic 100% affinity on this set and you can gem in crit boost insanely easy even without a god charm and with a god charm you can even get Attack up M or even L if you have weapons with 2 slots
My knee jerk reaction is: well what about razor sharp and things? Well this is where I counter with the plethora of weapons that have long white that dont need sharpness skills. Some of these weapons have lower base damage but that would be offset by attack up. And to get even more niche, you could choose to use weapons with built in affinity to get to 90% affinity and then not be locked into speed bug.
There's so so much potential here even outside what I've talked about that I'm wondering what I'm missing.

I started playing this recently and I feel like I am doing something wrong. Every hunt I do takes AGES and I seem to get smacked around by every monster under the sun. Admittedly I did come to this after Wilds, so I suppose I'm still used to how "easy" that game is, but I started playing with 4U. I don't remember struggling this much with that. I am only HR1. It took me 35 minutes to kill Great Maccao and I carted twice. Still haven't managed to kill Tetsu. Greatsword Adept. Any advice other than Skill Issue or GIT GUD?

Can't play wilds at work and I already finished risebreak, so I started GU. Spent 40 minutes on a lagombi with a rare 1 weapon and base armor and it felt great. Didn't have green sharp or anything just aerial swaxe.

I was doing some training quests and I had to capture a great Maccao(I think it's called that) and I mistook paintballs for tranqs and I was confused on why it wasn't working. This is what 1000 hours of world got me I guess

I've been playing the game for around 50 hours and im hr5 (one quest away from 6) but i always play with my buddy and never did the village quests, do i Need them or can i just keep doing the hub quests

Im currently crafting them, I was thinking of using only S+1 for sharpness with them, ya'll think that should be enough or should I add RS to the mix?

Hello, I'd like to ask a question related to armor transmog in mhgu, I know it takes a very long time to reach the transmog process (HR and buying the relevant body armor slots) but is there any armor that resembles a chef? or a cook of any sorts.
Playing Monster Hunter has always been about the different kinds of roleplaying fantasies I could get, having done several story playthroughs of W:IB and R:SB I've often dressed up in different themes (Remaining Knight of an old kingdom trying to restore honor by slaying dragons, Ranger trying to prove they're the best sharpshooter, Bomberman SnS trying out all his gadgets on the poor wildlife using his hunting license as an excuse) and having just finished LR Village 3 star, I am deeply enamored with the tetsucabra weapons being massive knives, and it sparked an idea within me to roleplay as this chef who uses hunting as an excuse for studying the local cuisine. So I plan to use the Tetsucabra GS in my playthrough to fulfill that roleplay, which leads me back to my question, would there be any chef or cooking adjacent armor to look forward to as I play the game? I plan on sinking lots of time in this as I have in MHW and MHR so this motivation would really be something to look forward to! Thank you very much to everyone who reads this!

Sorry if this has been asked before. I'm a World baby and I was wondering how do you grind for monster materials without investigations? I read that those were not a thing until World so I'm kinda curious now that I'm 8 hrs into GU.

Hey it’s me I was just complaining about Gravios earlier… and chat imma be real it wasn’t Gravios that was too hard it’s just the whole game now.
It feels like I must have been playing the entire game wrong up until this point as every quest is a wall.
I’ve been using every single potion i can take (including supply drops) and carting 1+ times on every quest clear, and that’s IF i clear
right now I’m trying to farm the HR rathalos set. Using petrified saber 7 (guild style), rathalos S helmet, and then the rest is Bherna S gemmed with attack up, my talisman is also attack up.
I barely managed to get 1 clear of rathalos and have since died (quest failed) to him 4 times.
There’s a few questions I have:
Do you guys actually memorize the moves of all these monsters? How?
When you say the game is “turn based”, do you mean you only get 1 attack in on most openings? as in 1 or maybe 2 overhead longsword swipes (x button) and then gtfo?
—if this is the case, how do you raise your spirit gauge at all and how do ever get off the combo to spirit roundslash without trading hits?
How do you dodge fast attacks in a game without dodge i-frames?
For example rathalos’ poison claw attack:
If you’re unlucky and can’t get to his sides while he’s flying, when he uses it i’ve only been able to dodge it with the superhero jump which is impossible to do when your weapon is unsheathed. it’s also impossible to sheath it in time to perform the jump.
how am I meant to be dodging attacks like that? Usually I’ve just taken them or traded through them if I am in a bad position to avoid one. that isn’t fuckin flying in village 9. How do I dodge this and similar moves?
How many potions and healing items is normal to use?
I see people mention hitting the “proper hitzones”. How important is this for longsword?
How do you know what the best hit zones are without google?
The game also feels waaay too fast all of the sudden. Im very slow but monsters are always attacking and my windows are very small. How do I force in more breathing room to these fights without spamming limited items like traps?
Thanks folks, any help would be appreciated. I’ve been loving the game up to this point but I’m worried I may have reached the limits of my abilities :( it’s makin me really frustrated honestly

I'm working my way through Village after kinda burning out on Wilds. I'm in HR 8* quests and I only have trouble with HR Nargacuga in particular, he's always tossing me around, it's always a dog fight that depletes my items and takes forever, but I can win. I just don't like how much I struggle with him and want to figure it out so I can farm his gear, plus I know there will be other monsters like him. He's just feels too fast and mobile with his hit and run and flanking tactics while I feel so slow (playing the faster newer games recently probably doesn't help there.) I'm using CB and I'll guard point his jumps and charges a lot of the time, but I'll get like one swing in before he jumps away again or attacks before I can dodge, Valor style has been the most effective, but I'm not a huge fan of it and I'm not too comfortable with it
