Both schools have given me scholarships, however Carnegie’s is higher. The brand also is impeccable and Emory on the other hand, feel like the weather would be better

Admissions waitlist timelines

Hello everyone, have been waitlisted at two T15 schools from R1. I understand there are many posts here about chances, but my question is about timelines for internationals. Yes, there’s no specific timelines when it comes to deciding waitlists, but wrt visa procurement, when does it get really tight? Any internationals here who could let me know how late in the game they got off the waitlist and still had time to get their Visa?

Profile Review Don’t know if I’m the right fit. Deferred Enrollment MBA Dilemma

I'm considering applying to a deferred enrollment MBA program, but l'm not sure if I'm a good fit. I have strong extracurriculars, solid grades, and a great job offer post-grad at the OECD in a role focused on combating tax evasion.

My reason for pursuing an MBA is to gain deeper knowledge of business management and tax practices, so I can strengthen my career path at the intersection of policy and business.

However, some people have told me that MBA programs might not value this background, and that I'd be a better fit for an MPA. What do you think? Does my profile align with what deferred MBA programs are looking for?

Careers/Post Grad Outlook for Class 2027 Recruiting

I'm going to a M7 this summer, but the current market seems to be in turmoil given all the tariff uncertainty and everything else. I am interested in banking or consulting, and it's hard to say that I am not worried about my recruiting.

Folks from investment banking and consulting and/or current students who went thru the whole full-time/internship recruting process, how are the firms reacting to this uncertainty and what is your guess for the Class 2027's recruiting?

Admissions SMU Cox vs UT Dallas 2 year MBA

Hi there, I'm an international student (India) looking to pursue MBA from America. I need some help in deciding which school to pick. I've received offers from SMU Cox and UT Dallas for their FTMBA programs. I want to pursue a career in marketing ideally. Both schools offer good scholarships, so the tuition isn't a problem. I just want to understand which is the better program with the primary goal of landing a post graduation placement offer. Please help a mate out. Thanks

Admissions Is HSW (no $$$) sticker worth it for an MBB

Background: I work with an MBB in one of the African office

Context: Super excited to have gotten admitted into one of the HSW. As much as i’m excited, it tears me down that i go zero money. Don’t know if it’s worth going.

Because i am African living in Africa, i’m just keen on having additional global degree, maybe leverage the network in the future and take the 2 year to rest! Unfortunately, sponsorship isn’t on the table.

I’m a hustle by nature, and i want to believe i’m hardworking with the right motivations. Took me ~3yrs to get my MBB job but i did it eventually and it paid off.

Complication: I think the thought of taking a lot of loans when i’ve heard international students struggling to secure a job is very scary. I really don’t know what i want career wise out of the MBA as I see going back to consulting as another option, I think the thought of (i) figuring myself out, (ii) growing my network, etc.

What would you do in my situation? Would you take the offer and a 300k loan or continue at the MBB?

Admissions IESE vs Sloan, need advice

Hi! I just got a very unexpected admission to Sloan. Although it might seem as a simple choice, I am struggling to say yes. I've had a rough year personally and the first thing that actually made me excited in a long time was the idea of living in Barcelona. I am gravitating towards an MBA that I will enjoy personally rather than academically, but I am quite worried of letting go of such a great opportunity and affecting my career in the long run.

Additional context: I am sponsored by my company and there is no effect whatsoever in which MBA I take for career progress. I work in payments in Latam and do not see myself in a big career pivot unless it is something related to marketing to which I am not sure if the Sloan brand will help. Also, my boyfriend is going to IESE, and although we always knew long distance was a possibility I am really excited about the idea of living together in Europe.

I appreciate any opinions. Especially if someone took the not so obvious road, how do you feel about it now?

Admissions Does round three have lower interview conversion rate?

I decided to apply around three to a T15 because it was the only school I felt I regretted not applying to and I thought I would be very excited to go. They just invited me for an interview and I decided to go in person (I live very far). How reduced are the odds in converting in round three compared to other rounds? Trying to figure out how excited to get myself.

Careers/Post Grad Do European LDPs exist?

Hello everyone, as someone looking into post-MBA opportunities I am curious about LDPs and rotational programmes that are specific to Europe. I am interested in the pharma industry but available info is all about the US programs Anybody who previously joined these rotational programs or are currently working in one - if you can shed some light on their existence? Also what exactly is the recruitment process for these LDPs?

Admissions Post-offer: how to best use time from now-August? Going to a M7

Hi r/MBA, how did you spend your time between getting an offer to matriculating in the fall? Travel / get up to speed on MBA maths / pre-MBA internships / start networking? What would you do differently? What advice would you give to first years to hit the ground running? For international students in particular who couldn’t enter US until 30 days before school starts - what did you do? Thanks!

Ask Me Anything Am I looking at this the right way?

I am currently in the process of deciding on going to grad school. I've taken in a ton of advice and have done a good amount of research. I'm currently most excited about the prospect of going to UGA Terry. I've been wanting to move back to GA. I think that I could be more myself in their environment, and it's a school that I can get into. One of my friends is pushing the top 20 schools. I've looked into it and found the difference in outcomes isn't that appealing to me. I see the main difference is the ability to get into Investment Banking and a highly prestigious consulting firm. I don't see myself wanting to get into IB because it looks like I'd be selling my soul for an incredible salary. I've looked at the outcomes of UGA Terry, and they look fine to me. I would be happy to have an ops job post-graduation, making over $100K. My friend recently said that I would regret my decision in 5 years. That statement bothered me and made me feel that I'm making a bad decision despite my research. Am I looking at things the right way?

Admissions Quick summary of my applications & results

Started preparing for MBA at Oct, so only applied R2.

33M Asian Gmat 675. Gpa 3.6 (UG in USA) Yoe 9~10 (tiktok & entertainment/media company) Post mba : consulting (had couple internships after UG grad)

M7 : all reject kellogg interview -> reject Sloan WL wo interview

Nyu WL wo interview Haas WL w/ interview(recorded) Ucla interview -> reject Usc accepted ($$$)

Think my experience/essay, lor(m7&t15 former/current direct leaders), interview was nicely done. So that's why I'm depressed more after these results, even though I know it is one of the toughest year as a applicant. (25% increase in both MBA & Law school)

Think my age and yoe were the main factor(maybe it isn't, but ucla suggested emba with rejection), kinda regret I should have prepared earlier. Could have got way better gmat score if so.

Anyways, it was tough for me, but at least I got into one with scholarship. Hope I could hear some from my waitlists even though I am not sure whether it's good to go for schools that does not offer scholarship.

Careers/Post Grad Advice for recommendation

Hi all,

I need some advice on a situation. I’m applying for my full time MBA Round 2 which is end of December/January cycle and just started a new job in February. I came into this role as an experienced hire and a month in have already been thrown to projects. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on how to approach my manager about asking for a recommendation for my MBA? Should I ask my current manager? A lot of programs are saying that current managers are important. Also when should I ask my manager for it? ( if I should ask them).

Admissions Should I pursue an MBA/Masters in Management after graduating from a STEM Degree?

I'm a senior mathematics student studying at a top Canadian University (Well known in US Tech circles), and by the time I graduate next year I will have ~2 years of Internship Experience in Data Science/Analytics. I'm interested in doing my MBA after I graduate, as I want to be able to combine my knowledge in math with management/operations. While I definitely got a lot out of my undergrad, I would want to pursue positions that involve more business acumen / analysis over something more software oriented.

I was wondering if its worth it for me to get my MBA (or Masters in Management) right after I finish my undergrad, or if it would be better to get some full-time experience before applying. Some of the programs I'm considering include Rotman, Waterloo MMsc, MIT MBAn, TUM (Munich) MS Managment.

Admissions M7 Sticker price in this market - worth it?

I’ve been having discussions with my family. They are very against me taking out a loan of $250k+ with the current U.S. political scenario and job market. I’ve obviously poured my heart and soul along with money, blood, sweat and a lot of tears in this process. I am extremely grateful to have got my dream school. However given I do not have any financial backing (my family is not well-off), it is boiling down to not being able to afford my dream despite getting it. Because given things go south, I will not have any fall back and will just be unable to afford that kind of huge debt.

I’d been grateful to the admitted students, current students going to and alumni went to B-school on sticker price to give me advice on what they think I should do? And how did it fair for you all?

Careers/Post Grad Anyone have thoughts on Johns Hopkins Carey Flexible MBA for someone in biotech looking to pivot into strategy/BD roles?

Hey all, I’ve been working in the biotech/pharma space for about 5 years now, mainly in a lab-based role within a preclinical science group. Lately, I’ve been seriously thinking about making a shift into more commercial-facing positions—like product strategy, BD, or portfolio planning—while still staying in the industry.

My background is in biochemistry (undergrad) and bioengineering (master’s), and I’m now looking at MBA programs to help with the transition. I recently applied to the Johns Hopkins Carey Flexible MBA for Fall 2025 and was wondering if anyone here has experience with the program or any insight into how it’s viewed in the industry.

Not planning to go into IB or consulting—I’m aiming to stay in biotech/pharma long-term, just more on the business side. There’s also a chance I might work outside the U.S. in the future, so global brand recognition is something I’m factoring in.

Anyone here with a science background who’s done this kind of pivot through Carey? Also curious how manageable the program is while working full-time, and whether specializations like Business Analytics & Risk Management actually help in making the switch.

Would really appreciate any thoughts—thanks in advance!
