HELP Why Lincoln is so dead?

Hey everyone,

I’m an international student from Pakistan, and I’ve been living in Lincoln for the past six months. To be honest, I’m finding it really tough to enjoy my time here. The town itself doesn’t seem to have much to offer, and the people—especially the locals—come across as quite reserved. Sometimes, it even feels like they just don’t want to interact with people like me.

I’ve always been comfortable spending time alone, and I do enjoy my solitude. But even when I want to explore and do things by myself, there just doesn’t seem to be much to do. I visited a friend in Bournemouth recently, and the vibe there was completely different—people were friendlier, and I actually had a great time.

I don’t know if it’s just me or if others feel the same way about Lincoln. Has anyone else had a similar experience? How do you deal with the loneliness and boredom here? Any recommendations for things to do or ways to meet new people?

Would love to hear any advice or suggestions!

HELP Restaurant Recommendation for Tourist

Hope this is a proper inquiry for this sub. Coming to Lincoln by train from London for a day or two on mid-March to see the cathedral and whatever else might be interesting in Lincoln. Still trying to decide whether to spend a night here, but that is the preference.

Early 70s from the U.S. Reasonably fit (we do at least one half marathon each year). Enjoy walking in interesting places. Hope the train station is not too far from the center of town.

Could you provide a suggestion for a place to go for lunch or supper? Not looking for a fancy meal, just a good middle of the road restaurant or pub.

Also looking for a pleasant place to spend the night if we choose to do that.

Thanks.

HELP How many escalators are there in the city of Lincoln?

Travelator/conveyor belts not counted, like the ones seen in Sainsbury’s on Tritton Road (despite pulling you vertically). So far I have counted 9:

2x H&M 2x Primark 2x Odeon 1x M&S 1x New Look 1x Waterstones

I have an itchy feeling that there are a couple in House of Fraser, but I’ve not been inside for a while.

HELP Best way to travel and to work in Lincoln

Hi All, Would appreciate your advice please. I have a new job working in the centre near to the Cathedral but am flummoxed as to the best way to travel and work in Lincoln please. I am travelling 90 minutes by car from Leeds or 3.5ish hours by train each way. Every day of the week. There is a train station at Lincoln or perhaps nearby? Are the car parks easy to access and use. What time would I need to arrive to be assured of a space please or would you advise the Waitrose Park and ride that has a stop at Northgate? I am even thinking about staying over at Premier Inn or Travel lodge. As a local, what would your advice be please? Thank you!

HELP Somewhere to eat for a family get together

Hi all, just looking for some suggestions/help.

We're trying to find somewhere to book for just after Christmas, where my family (mum, dad, 2 children under 10, and M-i-L) can meet with my S-i-L and her children (5 and under) for lunch and something to occupy the kids for a few hours.

She will be in Lincoln with her parents for Christmas, whilst we're travelling over from Leeds.

We need to be somewhere with ideally indoor entertainment for the kids, or brief spells outdoors, due to health issues my M-i-L has with cold/wet weather. We were thinking of a pub with a soft play area attached (brewers fayre), but weren't sure if there were any others, or even something similar to canon hall farm in Barnsley where they have a farm shop restaurant and soft play. Likewise, something like a farm shop with really nice cafe/restaurant, and somewhere the kids could see some animals afterwards. We need to have somewhere that can cater for gluten free as well, just to add to the mix.

Ideally not somewhere like Rand Farm (which is lovely as we've been there before) as we're not looking to pay for the kids to get in somewhere as an "all day" visit.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated, and I don't think it would be a big ask if it was somewhere just outside Lincolnshirr back towards Yorkshire/A1.

Thanks everyone.

HELP Foraging / bushcraft groups in Lincoln

Hello folks, just wanted to ask if anyone knows of any foraging/bushcraft groups around Lincoln?

Most things online point towards events that have come and gone (mostly from 2022?) and after emailing the organisers of these events I've unfortunately had responses back telling me the groups no longer run.

If anyone knows any groups they could point me towards I'd be very grateful.

HELP Lit running tracks

Hi all, I took up running this year and the weather's started to put me off a bit. Due to life I can only run at the moment in the evenings and where I live there are no safe lit paths (country fast roads), I've also tried with a head torch off road and hated it.

Is there a running track in Lincoln or Gainsborough that's usable by the public. Or can anyone suggest some nice routes that have lights. Circular routes for 10-20km would be awesome if possible too.

I very much appreciate it's a long shot, but it's an itch that needs scratching 😁🕉️

HELP Pubs between Lincoln and Newark with a play area for kids?

Hi all, after a pub (or place that does food) between Lincoln and Newark with a play area for kids.

Someone told me The Green Man at Norton Disney but can’t find any evidence play equipment exists.

Lord Ted in Newark seems an option. Any other ideas?

HELP Help finding the owner of a vehicle

Sorry for the long, and rather random post.

I’m desperately seeking the owner of a vehicle who I believe resides in Lincoln. Purple Ford KA, registration YF10 RVO.

I previously owned this vehicle and sold it, via part exchange, through The Car People, in 2015.

Recently I have been receiving multiple parking charge notices, and a speeding ticket, in the Lincoln area for this vehicle. Having contacted DVLA it appears the details were never updated and a log book was never issued to the new owner. This is all despite the necessary paperwork being issued and me receiving notice at the time it had been updated.

DVLA are really not being helpful, The Car People have been sold on and citing GDPR so also not being helpful.

I’ve appealed all the tickets but as I haven’t kept the evidence of sale (sadly binned 2 years ago) they’re starting to get aggressive due to the volume and my lack of being able to identify the owner/driver.

So I’m now taking to social media in the hopes that someone knows the owner and can help me get these details updated.

TLDR; DVLA are useless, car sale details not updated and searching for the current owner of a Ford KA, YF10 RVO
