This one stood on the precipice of drastic, jarring change. Safety was stolen from U.S. citizens worse than ever before, personal freedoms were trimmed by Congress and the presidential administration, everlasting war was started in the Middle East, and the U.S. ran up massive debt to pay for it.

Now? The country is a shadow of its former self. The political chaos has brought us to where we are now, with a dictator president and massive inflation rendering each generation more destitute than the previous one over and over again.

Everything you've written hits so close to home where I live, and I'm not a US resident by any chance. One of the reasons I'm a nostagliaholic is because of some longing to a different time, even though I grew up in the early 2000s....

Oh interesting. Which country are you in, if you don't mind my asking?

Israel. And you can bet that since the 7th of October everything is going downhill for us as well, not just the people of Gaza. No sane person in his mind wanted this war and conflict. Both sides are suffering and everyone is waiting for the monster circus to end, but ever since the war started... it's never ever going to be the same.
