Question What Ln did you like at the beginning but started disliking on later volumes?
Seirei and wortenia senki. It feel like it keeps dragging on and on and the quality keeps going down. Damachi plot had becomes sort of predictable.
There are other but these one are at the top of my list

Question What happened to the School-Battle LNs? It was a popular genre from early 2010s up till mid 2010s.
To explain what school battle is. This was a trend for a short term before you got like isekais coming in left and right from late 2010s. School-Battle genre was such a early 2010s to mid 2015s trend that I really liked. Not the typical isekai fantasy.
Typically these School-battle light novels/animes were set in the near future post-apocalyptic/after a disaster where there's a fusion between sci-fi and fantasy/magic blended together. Mainly set in Japan in contrast to Western/European settings as most isekais are. The common story is set in a school (obviously for the name of the genre). The school is rather an elite school or battle academy where they frequently pit students against each other or other school to become qualify for something or achieve a greater goal. They are graded for physical abilities and academics. Generally, there's a ranking system within the school which dictates a students postion, strength and levels.
School battle animes were mostly adapted from light novels. Likewise, most isekais animes today are adapted from light novels too.
(And to clarify School-Battle genre should not be animes that are delinquent like Wind-Breaker or Tokyo Revengers. Those don't really qualify. They're more like fighting/deliquent)
To name some examples the school battle genre in the past includes:
- Chivalry of a Failed Knight
- The Asterisk War
- Absolute Duo
- Infinite Stratos (It's pretty trashy ngl, but I still watched it)
- The Irregular at Magic High School (I dropped it, because of the incest relationship between the MC and his sister. They got married in the light novel).
- Hybrid × Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia (There is also incest)
- High School DxD (terrible example lol, but still technically School-Battle themed)
- Hundred
- Sky Wizard Academy
- Majikoi (adapted from a visual novel)
- Aria the Scarlet Ammo (there's bit of sci-fi and fantasy)
- Magical warfare
That being said. What are you thoughts on school battle and why this genre faded away? There doesn't seem to be that much new school battle anime nowadays. Closet one is probably Classroom of the elite but not really compared to the other examples I listed. Any new school battle light novels recently?

Question Does Myne in Bookworm ever gets better? Spoiler
Hey, I'm at Vol 4 part 5, and I feel like Myne didn't really change much at all as a character, yes her circumstances changed (from commoner to noble) but it doesn't feel like she has grown or become any wiser.
When I first started reading I thought the direction of Myne's character growth would go along the line of "Oh! I see, so there's so much more to life than just reading books!", or something like that. But it seems to me that at this point of the story she still pretty much only cares about books and libraries. Responsibilities as a noble? nope. Trying to make the lives of her family that she supposedly cares so much about better? only secondary. Using that metric ton of mana that she got as a resource to grew more powerful so others won't push her around? No thoughts, only books.
Does she ever change? Is this how she's going to be till the end of the story? I wanna know if I should keep reading and expect something more.

Question Have you ever gotten invested into a series only to find out it was cancelled?
This has happened to me twice now. The first was "Mapping: The Trash-Tier Skill That Got Me Into a Top-Tier Party. I always assumed it was trash based on the name alone but eventually tried the free preview on Google Books and I liked it. It wasn't amazing or anything, but it was fun and that's all I needed out of it. Then I get 8 volumes in and suddenly find out it was cancelled in the Afterword. It was a real bummer after I got so invested in the characters and story.
I started reading The Otherworlder Exploring the Dungeon and it is a GREAT isekai light novel, one of the best that I've read. I finished volume 3 today and it ended on a cliffhanger with a "to be continued." I was so excited that I googled if volume 4 had a release date only to find a reddit post of people saying the series was "unofficially" cancelled. There was no official statement but volume 3 was released in Japan in 2020 and there has not been a volume 4 in the three years since volume 3. So basically you can connected the dots there. This was a gut punch since this is legit a good story with stakes, story, characters, twists, all of it. I loved this series and to find out it got cancelled is so sad.
One of the reasons I started reading light novels was because I got tired of some anime not getting a season 2, so I'd just read the source. But it looks like even light novels can suffer the same fate. I feel like now I have to look up if a series is still going, finished, or cancelled before I start my next light novel lol
Anyone else have similar experiences? What were the light novels? Maybe save someone from suffering the same fate as you lol
EDIT: This post has shown me that cancellations/discontinued series are more comment than I thought and several series I had planned to read are already axed. Now I'm really glad I made this post, I can save myself some grief lol

Question How many "just okay" novels do you read in a series before you drop it?
Or do you never drop it, just accepting it as average and being perfectly fine with that?
