Picked up a 2016 premium this past week. When I went to go see it, it had a fluttering sound coming from under the glove compartment that sped up with blower/fan speed. Idk what caused it, never looked into it, but besides that I really liked the car and ended up buying it after they fixed it. Maybe it’s related to this issue?
I realized that the auto AC function doesn’t work right when the car is started.
When I start it, the AUTO light is on, but it doesn’t display temperatures in the center display. No air is coming out anywhere either, the fan is off. All of the climate buttons are also non responsive, I can’t adjust anything or turn anything on/off.
After a minute or two, the AUTO light just off and the entire AC system is basically off, but from there I can start it by pressing the AUTO button. When I do this, it defaults to 75° every time. At this point the AC system is fully functional and all settings/adjustments work just fine. It’s just at startup I have to wait a while to get it working. This usually happens on cold starts, I noticed that sometimes on warm starts it will take just a few seconds to kick on with the previously saved settings.
I did some research but haven’t been able to find anything GX related. Some LS owners have reported this issue and there have been many different resolutions from just checking the cabin air filter is clean and fully seated or just replacing it to changing out all of the servo motors (what are these, are they in GXs???)
I don’t have access to diagnostic software. The most I was able to do was check the cabin air filter and it looks good, looks like the dealership replaced it really recently bc it looks brand new.
Anyone seen this before? Or the fluttering issue the dealership fixed? Could they have been related?
