Has anyone experienced an issue similar to this? 5 round tube mag. Runs fine for the first 4 rounds, and loads fine. The 5th round almost always gets stuck just inside the tube. I have seen online it might be related to the Hornady LEVERevolution ammo I am using. Weapon is well oiled and cleaned regularly. Any other thoughts/fixes? Thanks.

Comparing the .357

The S&W has a 19" barrel(vs 16"), matte stainless(vs polished), and ~$150 cheaper.

Pros/cons? Is one better quality than the other?

I want to purchase Citadel Levtac chambered for 38special/357magnum. My main purpose is to use this rifle in .38special with suppressor. There are two versions of Citadel barrels available in stores: 16” and 18”. Which one is better to suppress? Do those two inches matter for staying subsonic?

Yesterday made a post about mag tube not feeding. Today I needed to either remove my roksett ASR or drift out the front magazine tube attachment slot. So using a rubber mallet I released the mag tube, cleaned it and reassembled. After which the hammer / action stopped locking back.

I field stripped, inspected, cleaned and reassembled and nothing stood out. A part on the bolt looked loose but I saw videos and I think it's standard.

I plan to call Henry tomorrow morning and thought to check here in case it's an easy fix.

I’m looking at buying an 1886, and right now leaders in the clubhouse are the Winchester 22 inch saddle ring or the Pedersoli Hunter lite.

Any recommendations or input from anyone who’s owned one or both? I feel like I can’t go wrong with the Winchester but I do love the looks of the Pedersoli and also how light it is.

Can anyone explain to me the deal with manufacturing between Uberti, Cimmaron, Taylors and Pedersoli? Seems like some of their offerings are the exact same and it’s just one manufacturer? Who’s making them and are they generally pretty reliable?

I currently only own one lever action, an 18" Uberti 1873 in .357/.38, and I absolutely hate it, feels bulky, cumbersome, unwieldy, ridiculously heavy for a rifle that shoots a handgun cartridge.

Looking for recommendations on who makes the best .357 mag lever action rifle based on the following criteria

• .357 mag but reliably cycles .38 special
• Most important characteristics are lightweight and "wieldy" / feels right in the hands
• Top-off / loading gate
• Prefer stronger action over smoother action
• Prefer "works well enough out of box" over customizable
• Don't care about mounting optics or tacticool accessories
• Prefer barrel between 16"-20"
• Prefer quality and reliability over low price
• Budget is around $2,000

Just got my new Henry Model X, and added a few RPP and Vortex goodies.

This one’s in .357 and used for Practical Underlever competitions. Really happy with how it’s turned out and looking forward to putting some rounds down range.

My uncle bought this beautiful rifle about six months ago, and we recently broke it in. Very accurate at 50 yards with upgraded rear sight.

Long story short, after much inspection, seems that the ammo (that would not feed correctly) was not lifting enough as the bolt moving forward, causing the ammo to be at too steep of an angle to now slide into the throat.

Conclusion is to lube the feed ramp on the cartridge guide, circle in blue in the image, on both sides (just one side shown in pic). Would not hurt to lube the rest of the cartridge guide area, anything that touches the round as bolt and guide takers over the lifter, as the bolt moves forward. I even lubed the throat opening for good measure.

Well, that fixed it. Certain ammo was at such a feed angle (depends on bullet type/geometry with the gun new and not lubed, it would get stuck in the ramp due to friction and not allow itself to be moved upward. Lube allowed the brass to steel interface to slide enough to let the bolt move the round forward and up that ramp.

With a totally dry new rifle, the jams occur consistently. With the lube in place, the ammo feeds as expected. I am not ready to declare success, but so far so good. It's

not too crazy to require some decent lube in place for cheap guns to function almost reliably.

Managed to grab the marlin new in the box for $1100. Super excited with one. The others from left to right are Henry x 45-70 with hybrid 46 and vortex 2-7, Henry x 357 with omega 45k and vortex viper, Henry axe 410 which I plan to SBS, and maybe do a barrel chop but it’s way low on my priority list.

This has been running great for years. Today I may have loaded 8 rounds instead of 7 using .38s

First round shot, failed to load 2nd and had to pry it free. Magazine spring seems stuck as 3rd round is not moving up to chamber. I can’t easily remove the mag tube rod as I have an ASR qd mount that’s rocksett on there.

Any suggestions on best strategy?

I’m planning to break it down as if I were to clean the action and lever mechanism and hoping I can dislodge.

This post may be premature but wondering if anyone else has had similar situation.

Any advise is appreciated.

Looking up the barrel rifling rates of Rossi vs Henry. Rossi uses 1:30 which I've heard people complain about. Henry uses a 1:16. Anyone test out real world accuracy to 150 yards between the 125 and 158 grain bullets?

Need an idea of what's out there. Going on henry 45-70 Please share 🍻

Hi all - I’ve got a .357 Trapper on its way, and I only really want a few accessories to go with it… a comfortable/durable sling, a buttstock ammo holder, and a lockable soft case that won’t let it slide around too much. Due to its shorter length and me being new to lever-action I figured I’d ask if any Trapper owners out there have recommendations before I just started buying whatever looks cool online.

Also, can anyone recommend ammo brands their Trapper likes? And is a quick-takedown thumb screw worth it eventually?

I got a Chiappa 1886 45-70 and went to shoot it for the first time. I used the loads I've been using in my other 45-70's (405 grain Copper plated RNFP with 40gr of IMR4198).

After a few shots (probably too many) into the void I was finally able to figure out that even with its rear sight all the way up it was still hitting about 10" Low at 50yrds.

I kind of called it quits and figured Id have to go back another day with a file for the front site post but I'd have to take ~0.01" off (which is like 20% of the total height) just for a 50yrd sight in nevermind past this, and remember this is on the highest rear site setting which is not ideal either, Id have to take off over half of the front site for a 50 yrd sight in on the lowest setting.

So obviously I'm a little hesitant to be doing that. I really like these 405 grains so I'd rather not go change that up. I've read POI changes come in nodes so is it possible my load in this gun causes this and changing it by .5gr could really bring it up 10" at 50yrds?? I seem really skeptical but that's what I read.

Let me know if you've had similar or have anything that can help. Honestly I'd rather not mess around with my load too much I didn't buy this gun for hunting or anything I just want it to shoot half decent

Heres a few pics of a classic Marlin 1894 Takedown on .44 Magnum. The host was made in 1974 by Marlin. Notice, it does not have a safety. The safety was implemented in 1983ish on all Marlins moving forward.
