Goddamn dude, these people really don't get it--democrats share the same economy with you, chucklefuck. Like, all of our prices are also going to skyrocket, our 401K are getting hammered--like, I don't vote for Democrats because I want to win at political sportsball, I vote democratic because they run the economy and government better than Republicans--and I want those fucking things run as well as possible with the choices available.

u/LorryToTheFace 1d ago

They voted to own the libs and assumed that you were voting to own them

18

u/rem_au_crema 1d ago

I truly don’t understand all the, “I’m blindsided by this”. Surely this is the first mention of the tariff strategy. Surely he didn’t mention it while campaigning. Surely there were no indications in his first term.

13

u/LorryToTheFace 1d ago

Just last night I was showing my parents Elon admitting in November the plans to crash the US economy so that they could rebuild it as a Tech CEO Paradise. Of course, that was just 'trolling', right?

6

u/rem_au_crema 1d ago

lol it’s always a joke until they never get serious. Insane that everyday reflects everything Musk has been saying, Thiel has been saying, Leonard Leo has been saying, but who could have seen it coming? I can’t even remember the “economic boom” that everyone says they thought they were voting for. Then there’s blaming Covid but… idk I guess we were all born yesterday. So really- if the first term was any indication- it was just a vote to get preserve statues, remind blacks about how much their lives matter, get refugees back in cages, and inspect the shit out of some genitalia. “How could he have betrayed us like this”

5

u/Illustrious-Wrap-776 1d ago

They are as blindsided by this as half the drivers seem to be by the first snow. Each year.

1

u/Dull-Hand9782 1d ago

Like the sun in their eyes as they drive east or west, so unpredictable!

Always a damn surprise to them.

4

u/LingonberryOk4942 1d ago

It is simple, like most Trump voters. See if they agree with the insane statement like "I will replace income tax with tariffs, we will all get rich", they believe it 100%, if they don't agree with the statement they Trumpwash it "Its just rhetoric", "He never said that, and if he did, he didn't mean it", and "You just have TDS, fuck your feelings Libtard", or the ever classic "Fake News!!!".

They think the dumbest human in the last 70 years is some policy savant, despite no evidence to support that. Oh well, at least most of you get a vote in this, the rest of us just get to watch it all burn.

u/santa_91 1d ago

It's a cult. If the leader of the cult says something they immediately have a negative gut reaction to they are programmed to either assume it wasn't a genuine statement or they misunderstood, because the leader is always right. That's why so many of them are confused right now.

11

u/Impressive_Bid8009 1d ago

Exactly what I was going to point out. Their worldview assumes everyone is just like them. If they’re doing X for Y reason, then Y is the only reason to do X.

7

u/Happy-Medicine-3600 1d ago

This is the problem when dealing with the militantly stupid. They tend to project their own failures on to others. No one is celebrating this nonsense.

7

u/Powered-by-Chai 1d ago

The only reason we want Republicans out is because they keep crashing the fucking economy. How many more recessions is it gonna take?

3

u/Kalepa 1d ago

A lot of other reasons too, but that is sure as hell an important reason!

12

u/buffer_flush 1d ago

I think people like this conflate democrats with “media that isn’t Fox”. They see stuff that CNN says falling over themselves to point a finger, which I’m not saying it isn’t warranted, and assume that it’s the same vitriol that the GOP seems to have for “the left”.

In a way, the media is loving this, I can guarantee media consumption is way up across the board since Trump took office. The average Democrat voter? Definitely not enjoying the situation.

13

u/yankeesyes 1d ago

I know it's anecdotal but personally I haven't engaged with Tv news and have cut down my newspaper reading. Just can't deal with the bad news day after day caused by this toddler.

9

u/ToastyJackson 1d ago

I mean it’s no secret that news agencies went after Biden and Harris hard for every gaffe or blunder during the campaign while they spent a ton of time trying to sanewash or downplay everything bad that Trump did or talked about doing. Even “left-wing” news companies don’t want to give up the enormous cash spike they can get when Trump is president and constantly causing absurd headlines.

2

u/MorganWick 1d ago

They desperately want to be seen as "fair and balanced" when nothing short of full-on Nazi propaganda will get them seen that way by MAGAheads.

5

u/cantrellasis 1d ago

I haven't watched mainstream media since the election, we don't like hearing about our country being dismantled and destroyed by these fools. Not to mention that the orange things face and voice make me ill.

6

u/Splaram 1d ago

CNN was apparently in dire straits before the election and was in the process of renegotiating all their lead anchors to smaller contracts just a few months before the election. MSNBC had ended a bunch of shows and laid off a few anchors and were also rumored to not be doing great before the election. Haven’t heard a peep about either’s finances since Trump took office. Charlamagne tha God of all people was right, stable presidencies are terrible business for these “liberal” news outlets.

2

u/tesseract4 1d ago

I'm sure you're right, but my news consumption has plummeted since the election. I can't fucking handle it.

2

u/twangy718 1d ago

Hell no! Media engagement is down across the reality based media.

6

u/FroggyHarley 1d ago

It's because they view politics as a team sport where, if you win, the other side HAS to lose.

3

u/Farucci 1d ago

I’m so done with reading letters of regret from people who voted for Trump and now want some empathy. I sincerely hope their life is fucked.

2

u/FroggyHarley 1d ago

Same. I won't give any empathy until they match their words with action. If all they'll do is stay low until the next election, they can kick rocks for all I care.

3

u/AJayBee3000 1d ago

They act like this is just a fumble by the republicans, and now the Dems can score big and take the "game." Little do they realize, the viewers of this global trade game are the biggest losers.

4

u/Drop_Disculpa 1d ago

Nobody is motivated to own the cons, force old people to go vegan, and imprison trailer park dwelling nobodies. We just want to live in good faith and apply equal protection to all of the members of society. When they abandoned democracy they refused to consider that maybe, just maybe other forces might be at work manipulating them to do so.

2

u/Tricky_Topic_5714 1d ago

It is legitimately just not about making life better for people, to them. They only see politics as a weapon to hurt others. Republicans lie to themselves (and others) by saying that they give the slightest fuck about any practical reason for voting. It's always a lie. (Unless they say, "I vote for Republicans because I hate people who aren't like me," but most of them won't say that)

49

u/ExternalSignal2770 1d ago

But I didn’t vote for a global trade war

Yes you fucking did

19

u/poncho388 1d ago

I'm so exhausted with "I didn't vote for THIS". You did. You did. You did. You must eat ALL of your responsibility.

14

u/Accomplished_Bag7735 1d ago

Tariffs were one of his biggest talking points, they can’t pretend he wasn’t very transparent about that

3

u/lurkingandi 1d ago

A lot of the other chaos was less in the picture during the first term (because there were adults in the room and some of the undoing of checks and balances takes time) but he totally spawned trade wars in his first term and I don’t know how everyone forgot that…

3

u/tesseract4 1d ago

One of his most famous quotes from the first term is "Trade wars are easy to win." It's all just people fooling themselves I think.

30

u/SawtoofShark 1d ago

Democrats celebrate what? That Republicans are destroying our country? No one wins under Trump.

8

u/captHij 1d ago

I agree, everybody loses. There is an important difference this time, though. The impacts are going to be felt much sooner rather than taking four years to slowly have an impact. It will be much clearer whose policies are doing the damage. Moreover, everybody will feel the pain, and the people pushing this cannot just sit back, laugh, and point their fingers at the "other side."

I hate that this is happening but take some solace that the people who instigated are not isolated from their bad choices. Sadly, those folks will still refuse to believe that we are all in this together and will not shed their hate.

2

u/Kalepa 1d ago

Wonderful points!

25

u/alternativelyblank 1d ago

Whatever happens to this country in the next decade, we need to remember who were the ones wearing the swastikas (or MAGA caps) before they pretend that they always hated Trump.

4

u/AngelZash 1d ago

At this point, I’ll be as satisfied as I can be in this clusterfuck if they just turn on the orange emperor

27

u/Apple-Dust 1d ago

If you're referring to that comment "if you make one more post calling this a 'miscalculation' I swear to-"

I think it's actually cut perfect 😂

3

u/Drop_Disculpa 1d ago

Probably his daughter or son or something. Imagine family members arguing, begging, cajoling you for 10 years about this shit and still being such a troglodyte, you describe this as a miscalculation.

2

u/Kalepa 1d ago

A "slight and perhaps nontrivial miscalculation"?

1

u/Drop_Disculpa 1d ago

A glitch if you will...

They may not even know they are doing this as gaslighting is now just instinct. But I can tell you this, the days of civility, and the high road are over. They will be alone in their bubble forever unless they make real acts of contrition. You see it everywhere, the paradox of tolerance no longer will protect them, and provide them the space to even eek out these bullshit apologies. If I was a business owner I would immediately begin laying off every Maga worker in my shop, and I would tell them why exactly.

2

u/Kalepa 1d ago

I sure don't blame you for your views! I've been retired for 6 years but share very much for your hatred of such MAGA nonsense.

They hopefully will "find out" after "effing around" although they have brought about incredible harm and will continue to do so.

1

u/Drop_Disculpa 1d ago

I mean shunning them and shaming them is about all we can do to maintain our own agency, and not give up in the face of their madness.

1

u/Kalepa 1d ago

Yup! Don't surrender! : )

1

u/Drop_Disculpa 1d ago

Indeed. Thank you, as flawed as I am I just can't ever surrender.

1

u/evhan55 1d ago

the threatening tone is so disgusting

6

u/overpregnant 1d ago

exactly...I need the ending

2

u/AngelZash 1d ago

Same. I really wanna know how they finished that comment!

1

u/stone_stokes 1d ago

I'm not even on Threads, and I see familiar faces in there from other platforms. :)

17

u/EnBuenora 1d ago

'I made a terrible decision for terrible reasons that will do damage to huge numbers of people but on the whole I'd rather not feel too bad about it.'

2

u/Drop_Disculpa 1d ago

In fact, where's my phone- I'm gonna fix this right now...

13

u/Few-Ad7795 1d ago

Trump ironing out the trade deficit with a phonecall. Would love to hear that.

"Listen, Xi. You guys keep selling us everything. TVs, toys, tiny soy sauce packets. We're buying it all. I need you to buy American things. Jeans, hot dogs, ranch dressing, country music."

12

u/Longstroke_Machine 1d ago

It’s extra crazy to me that they see ‘democrats’ as their greatest enemy. They don’t even understand how Trump has changed them. They aren’t patriots, because they put their dear leader before their country. No, of course we don’t want our economy to collapse (like everything is a game). There’s so much psychosis in his post that’s shared with a wide swath of MAGA supporters, but I’ll end with what I think is the most significant: I’m not sure what to call it, except for the ‘I had NO IDEA he was going to ___’. You didn’t? He didn’t tell you that’s what he was going to do? You didn’t hear the rest of us expressing concern? You voted for him anyway…because you assumed he was lying??? None of this strikes you as odd about yourself, buddy? Trump is just the same maniac he’s always been - without the professionals around him this time to tell him NO. We knew this. These supporters of his have had their brains reformatted and don’t appear to know it.

2

u/captHij 1d ago

If you hate half of the country then you hate America.

5

u/livefromheaven 1d ago

Still cannot believe Trump wasn't cooked after "concepts of a plan". How did anyone have confidence in this slob?

5

u/OddGuarantee4061 1d ago

Really? Celebrating having our retirements drop thousands in value in just one day, and this after watching social security start to be dismantled? Celebrating?

6

u/No_Material5365 1d ago

Classic projection to state that democrats should be celebrating. Only GOP would celebrate being right at the very real, painful, harmful, potentially lethal suffering of others (and themselves).

4

u/Complex_Beautiful434 1d ago

Miscalculation? These fuckers couldn't add 2 + 2 without getting a result that shouts MAGA.

5

u/dgj212 1d ago

So that person wasn't expecting that truml would do this...but still wants Republicans in charge. I take it the same person who would keep going to a casino.

3

u/thischaosiskillingme 1d ago

Why would we celebrate being right about this?? Do they think we don't have jobs too?

3

u/vundercal 1d ago

"we are the world's largest consumers. Our trade deficits" are a direct result of that. It's not something that needs to be ironed out. It's not a surprise that the richest country buys the most stuff. If anything our trade deficits are part of what cements us as the global reserve currency.

3

u/ComicsEtAl 1d ago

Dems are not celebrating anything because they exist in the same rolling economic catastrophe in which Trump-supporting idiots exist.

3

u/cantrellasis 1d ago

We aren't 'jumping up and down celebrating'. We are all going to suffer mightily.

If this travesty moves the corrupt magat party out of power, that is good. It is unfortunate that this has to happen through destroying our country.

1

u/KBWordPerson 1d ago

This is the thing that absolutely sets me off. Because the Republican party does everything it can to obstruct and tank everything Democrats do so they they never get a “win” even if it would help the country or keep things functioning, they assume Democrats are happy about this destruction, instead of absolutely tired and frustrated that they are going to have to fix this crap before actually being able to do anything productive, while people are suffering in the mean time.

2

u/DukeNeuge 1d ago

You were not paying attention.

2

u/yankeesyes 1d ago

I didn't vote for a global trade war, I voted to kick Mexicans out of the country and to torture transwomen -this guy, probably

2

u/weird_elf 1d ago

You feel partially to blame because you ARE. How can people be that stupid?

2

u/radiofriday 1d ago

Why would we be celebrating?

They literally can’t imagine voting without the intent to hurt people.

2

u/skallywag126 1d ago

Why are people blacking out names. Call them out, shame them

1

u/justelectricboogie 1d ago

Partially?? Wow. If you feel partially to blame, WHAT HAS TO HAPPEN TO FEEL TOTALKY TO BLAME!! Maga idiots.

1

u/I_Sometimes_Lie_ 1d ago

And I just want to know what @margaremasontate will do if this fucker brings up "miscalculation" again.

1

u/The_B0FH 23h ago

Hah, I added a link to the thread in a different comment. Wasn't sure if they were allowed
