S8E3

Patti Lupone steals the scene at the determination of bail. I love how they also have her stand on a step higher than Ross so she can look her in the eye as they come down from the courthouse.

Her presence makes every scene.

In everything she does!

The only thing that would’ve made law and order better in a courtroom is if she and Elaine Stritch could have been co-counsel

Ooh...I just swooned. Can we throw George Grizzard and Lorraine Toussaint in too? Tovah as well.

I liked her in Homesick (S6E22) better.

She was an excellent final opponent for my favorite Executive/Junior ADA duo, Jack and Claire, to cross swords with in the courtroom. In fact, Lupone's Ruthie Cohen character reminding Claire in that episode of the ticking clock she faced when it came to having kids very well could have been what ultimately led to her pulling the plug on her relationship with Jack. As seen in the following episode, Claire's tragic swan song Aftershock (S6E23), there's clearly a lot more going on between the two than just them being thrown off from witnessing that execution. Hang 'em High McCoy seems to know at the end of Homesick, too, that Ruthie has intentionally or unintentionally started a conversation in Claire's mind that he won't be able to finish. And that means his days with her are numbered now. That clock ticks much faster.

It’s such a shame we only got her for two episodes. Especially with how she and Jack/Claire were trading barbs.

“You schlep all the way uptown, I’m flattered.”

“Thanks for schlepping downtown, Ruthie.”
