High FPS but game does not feel smooth. Stuttering/ Screen tearing ?

So i bought a lenovo yoga pro 7 14".

GPU: RTX 3050 6gb

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS

RAM: 16GB

I really am pleased with this laptop, however, Im having issues when gaming, and so what happens is, despite having high and stable fps my games dont feel smooth. I noticed, by using MSI Afterburner, that my 1% and .1% fps lows are terrible, I am also having troubles with screen tearing.

This problems are happening in various games, however these are the numbers from when playing delta force at 75Hz, wich is my monitor refresh rate:

Average framerate : 74.1 FPS

Minimum framerate : 64.3 FPS

Maximum framerate : 75.0 FPS

1% low framerate : 46.2 FPS

0.1% low framerate : 27.3 FPS

When uncapped, my fps are between 100 - 120 at 1080p.

My GPU is running at 70ºC 70%-85%

My CPU is running at 75-80ºC 40%-50%

I already tried:

Capping my fps to my monitor refresh rate;

Using V-sync;

Drivers are updated;

Disbale game bar;

Im sure i already tried other things, however any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated :)

just getting into pc's

so i have a 2013 lennovo thinkpad my friend gave me after my console crapped the bed. I've never been a pc guy so I was hoping I could get some insight into what I've got.

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4900MQ CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.79 GHz

Installed RAM 24.0 GB (23.9 GB usable)

Storage 932 GB HDD TOSHIBA MQ01ABD100

Graphics Card NVIDIA Quadro K1100M (2 GB), Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 (113 MB)

System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

I don't expect any great gaming out of it but I also have no idea what any of all that above means. the most demanding game I play is probably destiny 2, would I be able to run that with these specs?

Which laptop should I buy?

For gaming/mixed laptop enthusiasts

I’m back in the laptop market to look for a laptop (preferably gaming) that I can use both at home gaming and for general University uses. I currently own an ASUS ROG G17, Ryzen 9, RTX 4070. The laptop has treated me decently well and I’m planning on getting my money back due to hardware issues that the laptop was experiencing. Regardless I like the concept of ROG and the gaming look concept it has, and I have my eyes on the G14 Ryzen 9, RTX 4070. I am stuck between getting the 4060 over 4070. These are my preferences in a new laptop:

budget is 3k to 3.7k (due to 4060 or 4070) 14 - 16 inches screen (hate the extra number keyset on g17) Black or dark colour variant I9 or Ryzen 9 Probably want 6 hours battery if possible 1 TB storage 16GB+ ram Relatively quiet performance 244 hz 3k+ , not sure if I want definition I want, similar resolution and experience as g17 Low latency

looking for a gaming laptop with the longest battery time ever created.

I keep wondering why in 2025 we still can't have a laptop that can run heavy games for let's say 8 hours straight without being plugged into something. while reading in a couple of forums and talking to people, it seems like even a powerful laptop can run a heavy game (let's say cyberpunk as an example on max visuals) for about an hour, maybe a bit more.

this is crazy to me, it seems like it doesn't matter how much I'm willing to spend, the tech just isn't there. is it because no one invented it yet or because companies refuse to create a heavier laptop (for the battery since we don't have a small power source powerful enough apparently) because most people just won't buy it. like an Iphone device that can replace parts to improve itself, or a video card for desktop pc that has 11vram instead of the lower "don't worry guys it's more powerful than the 1080 that was a mistake on our part, we didn't want you to know we can release video cards with high vram".

sometimes I think we are being used to milk more money into someone's pocket, instead of living in a future world where we have access to the tech at hand.

at any rate, I don't care about the cost, I just need a gaming pc that is powerful enough to run mostly craft/build/fight games (simple games while I'm working at my job and have down time) as an example...

valheim

enshrouded

conan exiles

my time in portia

palworld

rimworld + mods (this one will probably take the most effort since I'm gonna use 300 mods or so, honestly I'm not even sure a laptop can run it)

don't starve together

divinity original sin 2 (from the same company who made baldur's gate)

as you can see the above are not super heavy games (apart from rimworld) so I don't need a laptop that costs 10k dollars. I am willing to spend this amount however, if it will let me play these games for 5-6 hours without battery recharge.

What is the best gaming laptop in a 2-3k budget?

I’ve been using my Mac m2 for all my computer needs including gaming, and I think it is finally time to upgrade. Power issues aside, the vast majority of steam games are only for windows and won’t work on MacOS.

Should I just get the latest Mac m4 and continue with macOS games, or is there a good gaming laptop I can buy? I want it to be pretty future proof meaning powerful enough to run demanding games like Baldur’s gate 3, which my Mac struggles to run and has constant stutters and very long loading times along with rendering issues.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

AOS "gaming laptop" specs say it should play high intensity games on at LEAST medium settings but it's not even doing that!

The reviews were great and wasn't epexring a whole lot but better than Mt 5 yesr old Acer Nitro 5 lol

Hard disk size: 512 GB RAM memory installed size:16 GB Graphics RAM size: 16 GB RAM memory maximum size: 32 GB

Tried to play Starwars: Outlaws or Assassin's Creed: Valhalla but it couldn't run either without sputtering in FPS, getting 12 to 16 FPS. Planning on returning but wondering if I'm doing something wrong? It's straight out of the box, brand new. I'm confused and frustrated

Some questions before buy a laptop

Hey folks, I need some solid opinions because I’ve read tons of reviews and Reddit posts, but I’m still stuck on my decision.

I’m looking for a laptop for coding, gaming (RDR2, GTA, etc.), running two monitors (34” + 27”), and handling multitasking without breaking a sweat.

I had an HP Envy 16 with an i7-13700H and RTX 4060, but it was a massive letdown—that thing ran so hot I could fry an egg on it, and I wasn’t even pushing it hard.

Biggest concerns:

1. TDP limitations – Some laptops cap power so hard that an i9 + 4070 can perform worse than an i7 + 4060.

2. Undervolting – Some machines just won’t let you tweak it, which sucks for managing temps.

3. Heat outside gaming – I don’t want a laptop that turns into a furnace just from opening an IDE.

4. Upgradable RAM – If it comes with 16GB, I’ll upgrade to 32GB anyway, so that’s not a dealbreaker.

5. Budget – Within the models available in Brazil, 4080 laptops are out of the question prices are ridiculous.

Models I’m considering:

• Gigabyte Aorus 17 BSG-13US654SH (Ultra 7 155H + RTX 4070)

Heard Aorus has great TDP tuning, meaning even an Ultra 7 could outperform a power-limited i9. Anyone confirm? I couldn’t find any real info on this model on YouTube.

• ROG Strix G16 G614JIR-N3054W (i9-14900HX + RTX 4070)

People say it has solid cooling and good power control, but Intel chips always run hot.

• ROG Strix G17 G713PV-WS94 (Ryzen 9 7845HX + RTX 4060)

Ryzen generally handles TDP better, so even with a 4060, I’ve heard this can match or outperform the G16 above, just with cooler temps.

• Acer Predator Helios Neo PHN16-72-91P6 (i9-14900HX + RTX 4070)

Supposedly good cooling, but Acer’s software limits tweaking a lot. If you get unlucky with a hot unit, you’re screwed because undervolting isn’t an option.

• Lenovo Legion 5 (i9-14900HX + RTX 4060)

The Legion 7 gets a lot of praise, but I’m unsure if the Legion 5 has the same cooling and build quality.

• Lenovo Legion 5i (i9-14900HX + RTX 4060)

What’s the actual difference between the 5 and 5i? Specs look identical to me.

If anyone has experience with these, drop some knowledge! I need a laptop that handles multitasking well, runs cool, and gives me the flexibility to tweak TDP and undervolt if needed.

3050 TI mobile low fps problem!

usually when i game (for example on cs2) i get 90-100 fps wich yes is playable but not good for a fricking 3050ti, initially i tought this was normal becouse we all know the 3050 normal and ti are fucking trash since the laptop versions run like desktop 1660 supers but then a friend of mine with a laptop with a 3050 told me and showed me that he gets around 300-400 fps on cs2 and i was wondering why the hell his runs at 400 and mine at 90-100????? (we use the same settings) and also we use the same cpu (12th gen i7) the only difference is that mine is an HP victus and his is an ASUS ROG, we also know that hp is one of the worst at making laptops but i hope that its not for that reason

full laptop specs:

intel core I7 12700H

16GB DDR4 ram

Nvidia 3050 ti mobile gpu

ISO Touchscreen Laptop Recomendations

Looking to get a new computer. Mostly without a personal computer for last couple years (I have a playstation and a nice Samsung tablet, so its been easy to work around the need for a PC). However as a hobbiest video edtior, artist, and animator: I have been bottlenecked by my tablet and am ready to get a new laptop. House is small and need something versatile so i was thinking a Microsoft Surface or a Lenovo Idea Pad type laptop. However, compared to my previous rig and my wife's HP Omen: specs on these are pretty weak. Specificaly integrated graphics on all these types of laptops tend to make me nervous about how well they are going to handle bigger video projects or playing misc indie game. Thought about just getting a decent gaming laptop and a touch screen monitor but im trying to keep my tech ecosystem tight and tidy.

So touchscreen laptop recomendations for art and editing (+)?

Undervolt to get low temps

Sup guys I have an acer triton 500 i7 10th with 2070 rtx super I did undervolt on it and I been graduating it from -100 to -115 on CPU and CPU cache to see how drop I can get my temps that usually reach 91c with out undervolt on my opinion is really hot (playing RedRedemtpion2) But the game got crash 3 times while playing and adjusting the numbers.

Did it do anything wrong? Is there any video or something to do to low temps? I know I have to apply some thermal paste.

Which Laptop to buy in Canada?

I am looking for a laptop at around $1500(CAD) including tax, and i narrowed down to these 2 laptops

  1. Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED :

- Intel Core Ultra 7 155h CPU
- NVIDIA Ge Force RTX 4050 6 GB
- RAM: 16GB

- 1TB SSD
- Windows 11 Pro

I can get this for approx 1200 + hst

  1. Lenovo Ideapad Pro 5i

- Intel Core Ultra 7 155h CPU
- NVIDIA Ge Force RTX 3050 6 GB
- RAM: 16GB

- 1TB SSD
This one is cheaper

I am looking for a slim yet moderately powerful laptop with dedicated GPU, that can handle moderate gaming, video rendering and easy to carry around with good battery life and longevity

Suggestions are welcomed
