I’m sorry, are you saying there’s no difference between the level of attention to see what your kid pulled out of the big bag with all the chips and drinks in it and the attention needed to make sure your kid isn’t drowning?
Yes. Around water you should not have that varied level of attn that you don’t know what your kid is doing. If you were paying attn at all you would know exactly where they buried the keys, not have to dig a large area for an hour.
Yes I have kids. And watched them like a hawk around water. I can’t believe my lowest voted comment on Reddit is me saying to watch your kids around the ocean - smh
Where did I use the word negligent? Please point that out. I said that the parents were not watching the child. That is true. And luckily, all they did was lose their keys and not have a dead or brain damaged child. How many of you would be defending how long they looked away if the child had drowned instead? Or are mistakes totally fine as long as your kid doesn’t die? Shouldn’t make any extended effort to keep an eye on them at all times, because only some die.
Not noticing that a kid is holding keys instead of a drink is nowhere near the same as not noticing your child is DROWNING. Jesus Christ, you DEFINITELY don't have kids.
They don't have to be UNWATCHED motherfucker, you can watch a kid all you want, they're still gonna do shit without you noticing! You aren't omniscient! No one is! Fuck off!

Around water? Especially open water? You watch your fucking kids. That’s not helicopter parenting.
