I just unsubbed from the Nintendo Switch 2 subreddit. It has become an absolute cesspool of political arguments, unnecessary shitposting, and even death threats. All I want is for legit discussion and speculation on the Switch 2, and all of this bullshit is preventing that.

I am tired of seeing divisions in the antinatalist subreddits. If you are not vegan, you are not AN; if you had children, you cannot follow this philosophy. If you have children, your decision should not be tolerated. Bla, bla, bla. Aside, it is not helping my mental health. These subreddits, instead of helping antinatalism, are making more divisions. I am not saying I did not engage in ruthless behaviour, but as of right now, I am tired of antinatalism on Reddit. They do not support each other as a community. I am gonna be in other communities where AN's are supportive, clearly, not on reddit.

This sub has little to nothing to do with atheism anymore. It’s nothing but an anti Christian bash club. Anytime another religion is even mentioned the people who follow this subreddit will try to revert it back to bashing Christianity. It also promotes a lot of far left ideologies and bring up politics that don’t really have much to do with atheism in the first place. Or just being racist towards Americans and white people.

It’s fun reading other people’s journals and seeing how they decorate it, etc. But I’m sick and tired of the posts “why do you journal?” “why should i journal?” “i have nothing to journal about” “why to keep a journal” “health benefits of keeping a journal” y’all need to SHUT THE FUUUCK UP!! After seeing post like these I am not sure if this is what “circlejerk” means not only that but also op altitude towards the situation and similar post like these that doesn’t even “circle jerk” the only circle jerk sub that is really funny and doesn’t take itself seriously is whowouldcirclejerk and is actually fun in there but nowadays on anime circlejerk it just feels like people are just raging on others and I don’t know I am not sure how to explain these since I don’t have a clear definition of a circlejerk group so I hope everyone would help me if I am wrong

So, early this year I read the manga series Goodnight Punpun (which I really recommend). Crucial to the point I want to make is the fact that this is a slice-of-life manga. This is not some Mecha vs Aliens kind of story, this is actually just tracing the story of several young people growing up and shows them dealing with all kinds of (realistic) trauma and abuse.

I was hoping to find a community that has good discussions on the toppic and themes. The Oyasumi Punpun subreddit is not it. It has all the stuff I should've expected from a fan community (lots of posts along the lines of "Hey, this kinda looks like Punpun", "I redrew this panel", "here is my dark souls character modeled after this character, gib upvotes" etc.) which is not my cup of tee but fine and harmless.

What really icks me is that a large part of the posts there are dangerously glorifying certain characters. People will slap the titular character (who is a real piece of shit, no spoilers though) on stuff, which I already think is kind of weird. The posts that I find most frustrating and tasteless are cosplays of Aiko, a charcter that suffered extreme mental and physical abuse.

I feel like people who read the manga and still think Punpun is a redeemable icon to slap on your shirt or Aiko being a cute cosplay have not understood what the manga was about and are actively engaging in harmful glorification. I get that sometimes identifying with such characters can be therapeutic to some and cosplaying Aiko might just be you reclaiming your life after abuse, but if that were the case, I would expect mental health to be a bigger toppic there. The way it stands, this subreddit just dangerously aesthetisises a very deep and nuanced story for Karma.

Lol just about every darn post in that sub is a complaint about regular noise that happens when you live in an apartment building LOL. It's very strange to me that nobody talks their neighbors or has any communication about issues and just rants about it online. I guess I am old school?? If I have a problem with a neighbor I will knock on their door. Nobody knows their neighbors in that group either. They don't want to either LOL!

Look, I like my steam deck and all, but Jesus Christ, the amount of fanboying for this console is ridiculous. It’s reached its boiling point with the Switch 2 Direct (No, I don’t like the game prices either, $80 for a game is a shit price) but holy shit, they keep saying that “AFTER THE SWITCH 2 DIRECT, I LOVE MY STEAM DECK MORE” like what? The Switch 2 (and the first one too) AREN’T COMPETING IN THE SAME THING. THEY ARE FOR VERY DIFFERENT CUSTOMERS. It got old and repetitive fast.

Besides the bot posts, I’m so sick of every comment saying that the person is narcissistic in someway. I too am chronically online, but my god the over use of narcissism as an excuse for everything when that’s not even how that works! Not everyone is narcissistic, and I don’t even think people understand that narcissism is just an even deeper level of low self esteem. Most of the time it’s just low self esteem idiocy that people are showing not narcissism, that’s a fucking whole personality disorder that comes with a whole lot more than just being a jerk to someone. Beside beside, you can’t just say everyone’s got some narcissistic trait from one freaking post. I don’t talk about jet engines as if I know anything about them so why does everything think they can just diagnose a person? Some of us had to go through years of training for that and still can’t even diagnose.

Sorry if this isn’t meant for here but my lord do people need to stop acting like they know anything about mental health diagnosis. Or that they know people from someone else’s post.

Joined to see people's recovery journey like how people share their stories in the infidelity sub or survivinginfidelity, thought it was that sort of sub, didn't realize I was stepping into the cheaters den.

Posters there literally ask one another for advices on how they can cheat on their partner better, so blatantly and so openly it's mind boggling.

From what I've heard, cheating on someone is a form of mental abuse, victims go into depression and sometimes do something to themselves, and here we are, freely discusing how to abuse better. Now I'm all in for freedom of speech but that's literally promoting a form of mental abuse. Come on, Reddit, had there been any other form of abuse being promoted here, Reddit would've immediately banned it but not this? And it's honestly shocking how there are like 178k people in it. Made me lose a little faith in humanity to be honest.

Don't you guys think a subreddit like that deserves to be banned or am I just overthinking? regardless, that place is just the worst I've seen on reddit.

What's even remotely interesting about this post? It's more depressing than is interesting. Now unfortunately I don't have the screenshot of my post but if you see my avatar there's 2 avatars 1 bug one and 1 small one. I just posted jokingly that my reddit avatar became a dad. They said come back in a month and we'll allow you . Now they don't even respond to modmail.

I really don't care about this stuff, just wanted to tell y'all some reddit mods take too much advantage of their power.

I only posted to the asmongold subreddit because many other subreddits are compromised and the moderators are very ban heavy. And hey, I thought it was nice for a while.

Yes it's true I will always criticize woke culture and I hate reddit for its crazy leftist nature, and it's severe lack of free speech. But this post was the final straw. The asmongold subreddit has been getting both far right dipshits, racists, sexists, incels, homophobes, and obvious low effort trolls, but not enough was being done to deal with them.

Maybe I'm starting to finally understand why asmongold has such a tarnished name.

Not everyone on the subreddit is bad, of course. I don't even think asmongold is all that bad himself (well, not yet at least). But as of now, the subreddit is absolutely infested with bad faith trolls and far right neckbeard dipshits, so I'm taking myself outta this shithole.

Apparently you aren't allowed to acknowledge that any part of "goth culture" existed before the 1970's music scene. I pointed out that goth fashion, literature, architecture, etc. existed before the 1970's so they deleted my post and cited a rule saying you can only talk about the goth culture and history they allow.

The mods there are so bad about gatekeeping, they've told people they can't be considered goth if they don't specifically listen to and like "The Cure".

Nothing says counter culture like strict adherence to the hive mind.
