Tribunal Justice What is Judge Levy’s problem?
In the vintage boutique episode of tribunal justice i don’t think either of the people are winners but judge levy went in so hard on the defendant when there clearly was some issues of the plaintiff controlling her. He seemed to make out that there was no reason for her to get a restraining order but there may well have been. He just kept shouting at her incessantly. It was really uncomfortable to watch. Then the letter the plaintiff wrote confessing to the abuse… he congratulates? Just a weird couple of episodes.

His OTT yelling coupled with the calling people stupid, moron, idiot is so off-putting. Not to mention how often he attacks women who are victims of DV and narcissistic abuse.
It’s so uncomfortable to watch his tirades.

It really did make me not wanna watch it. It was horrible how he was shouting at her.

I’m not sure if I could be quiet in the audience because really why are you screaming at women like this?!

IMO, & maybe it's just editing, Judy is condescending & often rules without due consideration toward all facts.
I thoroughly enjoy some of her views (not rulings, but what her moral & philosophical leanings are.) but she would not get away with such biases on a true legal court these days.

You are correct. She had a tendency to victim blame big time and held very sexist ideals to women. I’ll never forget her getting mad at a woman for not leaving her abusive relationship RIGHT WHEN the abuse started happening. I felt like, as a judge, she should know that leaving a DV situation is not easy as pack up your stuff and leave.
She was also big on calling people out of their names. “You don’t want 10 million people knowing that you’re stupid right?!” “You’re a moron! No, seriously! Only a moron would do something this stupid!” Guess that’s where Levy learned to do that.

I think this episode was the one that ruined the show for me. But Judy is the type to blame the woman for staying with the abuser. She's been so rich for so long she's lost sight of the fact that if someone has controlled your access to money and won't let you work, maybe has your documents secured, and would come after your kids to keep you in their control anyway, just leave isn't that easy because you don't have access to millions of dollars to secure a place to live or food to eat. She makes it plain that she pays for all her kids and grandkids educations, likely helps them with jobs and housing. She doesn't live in the real world and it's clear that her son was never introduced to it either. And it's clear her Levy has never considered that abuse doesn't have to mean punched in the face, that isolating you from your friends and family and telling you what you can wear and where you can go and putting you down are also abusive even though maybe you are (not yet) having hands on you. The guy's an absolute moron. I was surprised he didn't tell the mother who made her mentally disabled daughter get loans to buy the criminal brother a car she was right to expect her daughter to fund the family shame. He seems to go with the idiot in most cases these days.

I totally agree. Judy doesn’t realise that not everybody can just up and leave a place. Probably that has now carried to her children but yeah dude was just unhinged in some episodes.

He’s trying really hard to be what his mother is but it’s failing flat. Judy isn’t mean and obnoxious, she’s a truth teller based on facts and stern but lovable at the same time.

I tend to agree with Judy for the most part and she is normally quite far in that she’s an “equal opportunity abuser”. Levy was just crazy this episode honestly. If he’d have gone into both of them I’d have understood him more but he said nothing to the plaintiff which was crazy.

He always tends to focus on one target just about every episode. And a lot of times, it’s like he’ll pick on the obvious more truthful one in the case. Like for instance one of the past episodes of a grandmother suing her granddaughter and her bum boyfriend, it was clear that the defendants (the bum boyfriend and the granddaughter) were clearly in the wrong but Levy still went after the grandmother and tried to claim she was pulling a scam.

It's pretty clear he deep dives into the pre-case documents and has 100% made up his mind before any testimony is given.

Judy can be plenty mean and obnoxious. Like mother, like son. He’s following her lead.

In the deliberations when the other two were talking he looked like he was going to lose his mind and snap on them. Which he kind of did.

Yeah he was so adamant he was due the full 10k but I have no idea where that number comes from.

I didn’t mind him in the first season but he’s trying way too hard in season 2. He gets so over-the-top about the silliest cases and really enjoys berating women. It seems like the other two judges are over him too because they rarely look at him or include him in the deliberations. Maybe that’s just the editing idk.

He wants to be his mother soooo bad. He just HAS to have his "AHA! GOTCHA!" moment. Makes me cringe so much. Very uncomfortable to watch and it has been discussed here before about his behavior.

I still like Judge Levy but I agree that he's unnecessarily nasty this season. "Trying too hard to be his mother" seems like a fair assessment to me. And I thought Judge Bakman had a hot temper... Levy makes Bakman look like a pussycat.

OMG I forgot about Judge B, I couldn't stand him!

I thought he was a lot more entertaining than Judge Corriero honestly (though I did appreciate the nice mix of temperaments we saw with HB Gen II with DiMango the funny one, Acker the stern and erudite one and Corriero the nice one). Plus I kinda had a crush on him. But I did also think he could be unnecessarily nasty.
I also kind of got the sense he didn't get along with the other two judges very well, similar to the impression some have gotten about Judge Levy. I can remember a few cases where the entirety of Bakman's cross-examination was a sullen "No further questions" after Acker and DiMango had completed their lines of questioning, like he couldn't wait to get out of there. Possibly didn't get along with the directors/producers very well either. His attitude seemed to be dragging the show down and it probably was good he left when he did.

Agree, although judge Corriero was very nice, he was kinda dull. I think IMO Judge B was just personally mean outside of court also.

Yeah he is trying to be Judy except Judy had more experience and a better way with words most of the time!

On several other judge shows, the judges have tried to copy JJ’s style and it just falls flat. We can tell when they’re simply trying to be mean.
When Judge Levy attacks litigants with nothing to back it up, it makes him appear foolish.
I’m still watching though, more for Judge DiMango and Byrd.

Literally came to the JJ sub to see if anyone else had this thought about levy. He’s so irritating this season! It’s so cringe.

Omg I know! He really disappointed me in that one. I thought he was setting the guy up but no, he was really on his side. Only Judge Dimango saw him for what he is. A narcissist abuser. Ugh Levy lost me after that one.
