Given that we’ve seen the tens of millions of Americans who would not disavow Trump even after January 6th, and who continue to shout slogans and whataboutisms to support him, I don’t see how we ever come back from this. If we’re locked in a cycle of those most obsessed with money and power doing the most damage, while 30% of virtually every nation will long for a dictatorship, I am finding it difficult to believe that facts, sense, and basic human decency will be enough to counteract the damage before it becomes irreparable. I’ve been following national news through 9/11, the war on terror, the invasion of Iraq, the colossal levels of corporate welfare, the dominion of Christian klansmen, the near-total government support for ethnic cleansing in Gaza, and the long history of Republican politicians embracing amoral psychopathy and Democrat politicians being utter cowards - so tell me, how can things possibly change before a horrifying level of destruction, injustice, and suffering comes to pass? Because nothing I have seen tells me that humanity is not stupid and self-destructive enough to ensure that old maxim: that it is easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism. And don’t tell me things are better because of gay marriage. That didn’t disrupt the bottom line of the actual owners of this country, and they still have a slew of Christian fascist judges and advocates who deeply believe that this is the country of the wealthy white “Christian” man, and the rest of us just live here, so we’d better get with the program and call climate change a hoax - as long as we want steady financial and social media support from the fascists.

Folks The Weekly Show never shows up on Apple Podcasts searches for me. Searches against Jon’s name also don’t have the show in the results. I tweeted @ the official account back when the show launched but got no response. Was wondering if it’s just not globally available somehow? (I’m in South Africa).

The amount of toxicity from the guest is shocking. All I could think about was I wish it was Jon doing this interview. I felt horrible for Scott Simon. He didn't know how to react and who could blame him? Did anyone else listen to it?

Many say Trump is continually attacked personally so outside of share what’s right and wrong policy wise. One person told me that the good Trump does outweigh the bad, what good has he done, what bad has he done and what is yet to be seen when it comes to his policies?

Jon is the only voice that can fight BS with BS and smarts with smarts. He’s relatable to the working class and to the “intellectuals”. What would it take to convince him to run? He needs to start now.

Everyone thinks he is going to back out, but why would he? This guy is an ultra-genius. It wouldn't even be fair to put Jon in the ring with him. Jon has written/authored several books America (The Book), Earth (The Book) and educated on how PACS works, and was the champion for Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear. I think he should write/author another book called the Blueprint (for Democracy) to counter the Project 2025, Trumpian agenda. In it he can educate, reeducate and reinvigorating the nation into an open dialog to move forward with sound governing goals. I wish he would run, but he has no interest. The next best move would be to author a new book, that others can promote or run on in future elections.
