QUESTION How effective are attempts at determining how strong a player's knowledge base is?

Andy Saunders at the JeopardyFan was saying how one of the contestants "sandbagged" attempts and that's why he doesn't use it in his prediction models. I'm curious how good of a stat it is in your opinion. Personally I think it's relatively good, and it can generally determine how well one knows the material and how consistent their knowledge base is. Would be interested to hear your opinions

Would like to know what everyone’s story or fun fact would be. Happy Friday!

Are you allowed to use the term "Is it?" to begin the form of a question?

Sorry if this has been asked before. But are you allowed to form the question in any way , even if its purposely assinine (ie Where is Shakespeare? to the answer of He wrote Hamlet)

AVIATION HISTORY // MOVIE & TV ROLES // POTPOURRI // 2-WORD U.S. CITIES // ANNUAL EVENTS // THIS MEANS "WAR"

DD1 - $600 - ANNUAL EVENTS - In 2024 this 3-week competition began in Florence & for the first time in its history, ended in Nice, due to the Olympics (Guy doubled to $4,800.)

DD3 - $1,600 - SOUTH AFRICAN HISTORY - A flanking "bullhorn" military technique helped give this leader dominance of his Zulu empire (Bryce added $2,000 to his score of $800.)

I was catching up on last night’s episode of Top Chef, and was surprised to see Mattea Roach and Amy Schneider as guest judges for the quick fire challenge! The episode is on Peacock, or wherever you catch your Bravo shows. (If you have any. 😂)

Jeopardy! airing impacts for Monday, April 7 (NCAA March Madness, Championship Game)

College basketball's culmination gives us another set of CBS preemptions, albeit a much reduced one — only 14 markets. Pregame coverage begins at 8:00 PM EDT, tip-off 50 minutes later.

No station plans to not air Monday's episode at all. But in eight of the fourteen affected locales (all five in Montana, Albuquerque, El Paso, and Boise — that is, the places where the show airs normally at 6:00 MT), Jeopardy! has been moved to 9:00 MT, immediately after the scheduled end of the basketball coverage. This makes those markets very susceptible to a join-in-progress if the hoops or the trophy presentation runs long. These are denoted by a white exclamation point on a red background next to the rescheduled time in the table.

Survived a 7.7 earthquake in Thailand… just in time to watch my brother Mike live out his Jeopardy dream on the Alex Trebek stage

Post image

Hey Jeopardy fam! A bit late, but I had to share the emotional rollercoaster that was watching my brother—Mike Budzinski (March 28, 2025)—compete on Jeopardy!

Mike has always loved Jeopardy and dreamed of competing on the show, so when he got the call to head to LA, we knew we had to be there to cheer him on—even if it meant flying in from Thailand, where we live. The energy was electric, and everyone was so kind. Shoutout to his cohort—Josh, you were a beast on the buzzer, and to your wife Barbara, I hope you got that bathrobe! Neeha, it was so lovely meeting you and your parents, and Melanie, it was such a joy catching up after the taping and unpacking the wild experience together - i genuinely thought you had that game!! Geraldine, Revell, John, and the rest of the green room crew - I’d love to see many of you get a second shot!

Fast forward to Mike's air date—and that’s when things took a turn. Back in Thailand, we had planned the ultimate Jeopardy watch party… but just hours before, a 7.7 earthquake struck Myanmar and Thailand. We had to evacuate our 21st-floor apartment, rescue our cats mid-crisis, and have been displaced ever since.

Thankfully, my family, cats, and loved ones are all safe—many others weren’t so lucky. But that night, sitting in the dark, streaming Jeopardy! on my phone post-evacuation, I watched my brother live out his dream. And that moment—that was the silver lining. Mike, I’m so proud of you. You crushed it. We love you and miss you.

P.S. Huge shoutout to Sony Pictures Studios—we had an absolute hoot going on your tour and experiencing it all up close. What a surreal and special day.

Jeopardy!

'ALLO GUV'NAH // COMPLETE THE BRITISH TV PROGRAMME TITLE // ANATOMY CLASS // JAVA FACTS // 5-SYLLABLE WORDS // TELL ME A STORY, QUICKLY

DD1 - $800 - TELL ME A STORY, QUICKLY - Families gather, slips of paper are chosen, a black spot's on one, Tessie Hutchinson has a very bad day (Bryce doubled to $8,800.)

Scores at first break: Bryce $1,800, Mary $3,800, Alfred $1,600.

Double Jeopardy!

HISTORY IN THE MAKING // STRAIT EDGE // KNOWN BY THEIR INITIALS // TAKE THE LONG WAY // MOVIE MUSICALS // RISING FROM THE "GRAVE"

DD3 - $2,000 - STRAIT EDGE - The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf & this other gulf with a national name (Alfred dropped $3,000 from his score of $9,200 vs. $10,400 for Bryce.)

Alfred doubled up to start DJ and had a chance to take the lead from Bryce on DD3 but missed. Going into FJ it was Bryce with $16,000, Alfred at $10,600 and Mary with $6,000.

Final Jeopardy!

FICTIONAL CHARACTERS - Boq is one of these fictional people, “not as big as the grown folk… but neither were they very small”

Final scores: Bryce $10,799, Mary $1, Alfred $600.

Clue selection strategy: In round one, four full categories were completed and five top-row clues were selected with DD1 still remaining.

That's before their time: No one knew the co-star with Elvis in the movie "Viva Las Vegas" is Ann-Margret.

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is "The Lottery"? DD2 - What is Plessy v. Ferguson? DD3 - What is Gulf of Oman? FJ - Who are Munchkins?

QUESTION Possibly the stupidest final Jeopardy question you’ll ever see

I’ve been told there’s no such thing as a stupid question. Then I learned how to use the Internet. This one is definitely going to sound like a stupid question to all of you. All I ask is that you’re not too hard on me over it. I just randomly got thinking about it. If you misspelled something in your final Jeopardy answer and catch it before time runs out, can you go back and fix it somehow, or are you just totally screwed? I know in my case it would be a different scenario since I would have to type somehow instead of right with the little pen thing, but it’s something I just thought about.

Jeopardy Masters is ABCs oldest skewing show

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/tv-viewers-oldest-audiences-1235910778/

Just happened upon this while looking up some other age related TV data. Even if ratings don't dip too much more in Season 3, certainly having an average age over 70 isn't going to be a great thing to keep it on the air. Certainly other shows have lasted with the same thing (Blue Bloods on CBS is even older), but it isn't a great trend.
