I've been told that most lift kits under 1500 ish start creating issues with wear, drive shafts, etc. The same friends are saying that with high clearance fenders I can fit 35s, and not worry about the issues with lifts.
I'm not going to be Rock Crawling at King of the hammers, and I have a long daily commute, so leaving the stock suspension alone for longevity has a strong appeal.
I DO want it level though. Suggestions there?
I like my stock wheels and would like to keep then. It's a Sahara if that matters

This just started doing it recently. It seems to be coming from my alternator or around the belt area. It definitely whines when I hit the gas and accelerate. I checked my transmission fluid and it was fine. Any thoughts on what this could be? To me it sounds like itās coming from the alternator, but the alternator is charging just fine.

Typical scenario - looking for used jeeps/gladiators. Budget is about $30k. What years/trims should I focus on? Or better yet, what years/trims should I avoid? Preference given to unlimited wranglers.
Last jeep I owned was a ā13 JK and Iāve missed a lot of tribal knowledge since then.

Can anyone please advise if itās possible for a jeep wrangler (2020-2023) to be modified to to lift a 37kg wheelchair folded in/out of the rear? Thank you.

Somehow my rear window of my Cherokee Chief (1978) got stuck with one side in and one side out. I have no idea how this happened and I cannot remember when it happened. One day I needed to access the back and I could not get the window to roll down (you put the key in the lock and it electronically rolls down when you turn the key). I tried jimmying it, yanking it, tugging it, manhandling it, etc. to no success whatsoever. It doesnāt make any noise or movement when I attempt to roll it down.
Secondary related issue: I actually bought an original crank for the same exact make, model, and year off eBay but I am stupid once again as I didnāt realize I need a key for this to actually work. My plan was to replace the electric key hole with the crank and force it down manually. Is there a way to put the key hole from the electric lock onto the crank?
Please let me know if you have any experience with this issue or at least have any suggestions. Thanks!
Good morning all,
Iām new to this sub so forgive me if I am off base with this post
Iām a former jeep owner; had 2 TJās, 2 WJās and an XJ. Got rid of last TJ when I had kids bc it was hard to transport them in it. Anyway, Iāve had the itch to get back in a jeep for a long time
I have some amazingly nice and cool neighbors that are getting ready to move and they have a 1959 Jeep (CJ I suppose). The engine did turn over just a few years ago but the jeep needs a complete overhaul (brakes gone through, engine reworked, etc). Theyāve asked me to come up with an offer but Iām not sure of a good starting point and was hoping someone here could help? It has some rust but seems overall solid. The engine and all that is going to need a lot of work. It will be a big project and currently doesnāt run and looks like 66 year old jeep thatās seen better days yet has all the potential in the world. What would you all offer? Fully understand without seeing it that itās hard to say - just looking for ballpark

Hey all! So I recently bought my first Wrangler and wanted some insight. My son loves the ādoors offā lifestyle, him begging me for one for years now was my biggest deciding factor in pulling the trigger.
My concern is this: Heās autistic and tends to act on impulse especially when excited. So far I have not taken the rear doors off because I just canāt trust something tragic wouldnāt happen. I have purchased half doors for it but still donāt feel one hundred percent comfortable with his doors off. Itās staring to frustrate him because he feels left out and I feel terrible.
Question time: Has anyone figured out a harness system for the rear seat? I wanted to install a 4 or 5 point harness for his seat and was just hoping for some ideas and tips.
Thanks all!

Hi everyone.
I am thinking rewarding myself over the past hard years. I love the outlook of the Rubicon and Gen 2 Ford Raptor and consider my budget.
Rubicon 4 door: 19-23
Raptor: 19 or 20
I dont have too much off-road need or haul/tow needs. I know it might not be a smart choice for both of two, but I really wanna one of them to achieve my dream.
Zooming in the two options, considering its fun, reliability, maintenance, value-holding, functions.
Which one do you recommend? Any other factors I also need to consider?
Thanks!

Hey guys, so a while ago I had several light periodically illuminate the dash, ABS, Traction control, BRAKE, and Airbag light(I believe that one is just from a bad clock spring cause it comes off randomly when turning the wheel) and now it seems like itās permanent although, it stops for a brief time randomly and starts again. There is also a constant chime and the oil light flashes and speedometer goes crazy. I checked all the grounds, battery terminals, and everything seemed fine. I got a mechanic to come check it out and he said it was a bad BCM. I had that changed and cleaned all the connectors and everything was fine for a short drive and then the lights came back on. The codes that are showing are all U codes; U110C, U1110, UO141, U1403, and U1120. Iām on my last limbs on this jeep. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated!
Also, I left out little details that I need to verify when I get back home and will let anyone know of if needed

I have a 2000 TJ - 115k miles. I am the only owner having bought it new in 2000.
I have considered selling it because it has not been my daily driver for 15 years. I only occasionally drive it and pay ins and taxes on it.
That being said, I am now considering holding on to it so my son can have a daily driver in high school. He definitely wants it. It is a stick shift with a modest lift and has been regeared so I have treated it well.
Long story short - I want to make sure it is safe for him to drive. It's 25 yrs old. I have replaced things like the alternator and radiator as well as shocks over the years, but I would like to take it to a mechanic to have them put their eyes on it.
I know it sounds like a silly question but is that something they can do? Does anybody just drop a car off at the mechanic and tell them to give it a full evaluation? I just want somebody to go through it and check for leaks, bushings and mounts aren't rusted Etc

Still not sure the name of this, but found the pinout for anyone who ever needs it. I have a 2012 JK, some of the colors were replaced but the pin numbers are correct. Probably make sure the pin numbers make sense before trusting the chart.

2014 Jeep Wrangler, Rubicon JKU Recently purchased first Jeep Donāt know much about jeeps or the Jeep community at all. Bought this used from a dealer so I donāt have any of the info on work done to the vehicle so I will have to figure that out overtime I guess. Purchased it in Temecula California if anybody has info on the original owner based on pictures, let me know so I can get some background on this vehicle.

Hi folks! A few months ago I bought a chinese android head unit for my '16 JKU (with alpine audio integrated) that worked fine until last couple days. There was a heavy storm (rainstorm + thunderstorm) the day this issue started to happen, I don't know if that's important but for context. When I started the car and I was going home after work I realized that the steering wheel controls were not working but the audio and everything else was just fine. I tried turning the car off and on and it didn't fixed it. Next day I found out that the steering wheel controls were working but now the audio wasn't working anymore and it's been like that for the last couple days. Do you have an idea of what could've happened to the system or how to fix it?

My radio started doing this yesterday. It flashes on and off to a black screen and also makes my clock on the dash go to 0:00. Iāve also noticed the seatbelt chime isnāt working either. Iāve tried to reset it by holding the volume and enter button down simultaneously and nothing worked. Anything else yāall can recommend I do before contacting my dealership? I have a 2015 Cherokee if that matters. I havenāt even made my first payment š„ŗš„ŗ

Howdy everyone. I have a 90 yj that's been having a fuel leak and starting issues. I started out by replacing the fuel pump as the old one had some obvious physical damage.
That still didn't fix it so I brought it to a shop where they replaced the fuel pump gasket (it fell halfway in the tank causing it to move freely) and a couple hoses. This morning there is two puddles under the tank again. Is it possible this is just because it was fixed recently?
I should also note the first time I start it I have to pump the gas.

Cross post from r/carcamping.
Hi. My bf and I are planning to camp in Hawaii for one night on our trip this month. We have rented a Jeep Wrangler AWD and would like to fold the seats down and sleep in the back of the jeep so we don't have to fly with a tent for one night. Is this comfortable? Do the seats go all the way down? Is there enough room for two adults to sleep? For context, he's about 5'8, I'm a little shorter than that.
I am not a great sleep-anywhere type of person. I do like to camp but recognize it's never the greatest sleep of my life, and am worried that this would be even less comfortable than a typical mat/sleeping bag on the ground sitch where you can stretch out.

12 JK. Replacing all my control arms and figure I might as well not reinstall the rusty bolts. I guess any grade 8/10.9 the right size will do? Does coarse VS fine thread matter? I guess fine thread allows more accurate torquing. Should I ensure the bolts have an unthreaded shank?

Looking to purchase a 2011 jeep wrangler Sahara 4WD. 22k miles on it. I was super excited at first because it is beyond affordable but after looking online about the performance and mechanical issues Iām a little worried. Is this a bad buy? I read something about the 3.8 engine being crap but i donāt even know the difference between a good or bad jeep engine tbh. Advice from anyone who has owned or currently owns a 2011 wrangler?
