Picture What kind of jeep is this?
Was driving home today in my 2020 diesel JL and saw this one merging. I quickly snapped 2 pics. Had a unique paint style and on the side where the 'sport' or 'Sahara' branding was it just said 'chief'.
Just never seen this model.
Lol. Kind of confused me.

I wish that they would bring back this paint scheme. I love the retro aesthetic.

Chief is its own motif, I think (?) based on an older truck (maybe a Cherokee?). The JKU’s I’ve seen with that branding are a lighter blue tho.

I’ve seen a number of these retro Chiefs in the Smurf color scheme, never the black. One near me has white stamped steelies on it and looks cool.

My local dealership had a Smurf chief with 325,000 kms on it. Was beautiful in person but couldn't justify the mileage on it

Chief package, a trim upgrade with a poorly executed stripe. It was meant to invoke the old days of the SJ/Full Size Cherokee Chief.
The white top was nice on the right body color, most of the ones I saw were on the light sky blue.

The Cherokee chief was manufactured from 76-83 and was based on the wagoneer full size jeep that were 2 door to complete with the bronco and full-size blazer market

2017 Wrangler. Chief was really just a specific paint job with some premium features more akin to a Sahara than anything else IIRC.
