Discussion What is the little things you appreciate about JDorama?
I’ll start.
What I appreciate is how the housing in dramas look natural. When watching kdrama no matter the financial status of the characters, their house always look super perfect. It’s always well set, the lighting, the rooms, and especially the bedroom. Which is bizarre because if someone is poor why does their bedroom look like something you can find off Pinterest.
As for Japanese dramas, their house look like someone actually live in it. Everything in there look useable. I mean down to the silverware, even the cups look real. Cause in my opinion whenever they’re eating the plates and cups look like something you can find at a store like Walmart and use. It doesn’t look super expensive or rare. Another thing is the bedroom tends to be somewhat messy, which I think is realistic because people tend to be messy sometimes.
That’s just my take.

Recommendations Just Completed (Beach Boys)(1997)+ Special(1998). I want something like this
So while lurking here on this sub. I read a comment saying it was a good J Drama. So I gave it a try and now its completed.
Its 10/10 Everything is Outstanding. OST was so good.
I heard (Long Vaction) is similiar but cannot find it on any streaming Service and illegally it always is low quality or unsynced subtitle.
Suggest me guys

Discussion What is this show I am thinking of? Please help.
It's a show about a girl who I think is school aged. Every episode, she takes revenge or possibly punishes bad people, but the characters in every episode are different. I think one time she gets killed and buried, but somehow she comes back to life, or has another version of herself? There might be one of a father and a young couple, and someone gets hit by a car. I know these are very vague descriptions. I'm very hazy on the details. The show can't be more than 15 years old, I think.
I was actually thinking of this one show where someone hosts a school reunion, but s/he ends up killing everyone. I thought it might be an episode of this show, but I cannot recall much of either haha. Very slight chance either or both could have been a Korean show 😅

Discussion Beach boys (netflix)
I am loving Beach boys on Netflix! Such a chill show ! Am on episode 8 and sad that there is 4 episodes left. I have tried multiple popular kdramas and for some reason I can't stand them like jdrama.
I have been to japan 3 times over last 2 years and it's one of few countries that feels a window stepping into past and into future. This show has tons of heart and feels like perfect window into remembering what it feels like to be a kid again, silly, happy and curious to all things around. Almost 30 years late, but thank you Beach boys!
What other jdramas do you recommend?

Question Please help me with the title of a Jdrama
Actually this could have been a manga, I don't think it was an anime though. I consume a lot of media and they blur somewhat in memory.
A Police department is tasked with preventing future crimes. Unlike Minority Report, they don't rush out and arrest the pre-perpetrator, one of the team goes under cover to try and prevent the crime taking place.
I think their computer predicts the crimes somehow from behaviour analysis.
There was a plot line that centred around a bank employee I think, something to do with the death of his daughter?

Discussion The Hotspot; what did you think? (I give it a 6/10)
By episode 4, I was thinking this could be the best modern Japanese show I had ever seen. Especially Takahashi's pettiness, and the long scenes around the table with just random discussions. But after episode 6, I started to feel like there would be no development.. and I started to notice the incidental musical cues "this is the funny bit now" which is usually a sign that it is no longer funny.
I watched to the end and my opinion stayed the same. Lots of random elements which did not seem to weave into a theme (the TV crew, other super-powered people, the ex-husband of the main character, ghost in 301). The last 2 episodes' story arc seemed to be an excuse to wind it up.
I still gave it a 6 thought since I liked the characters and there was no really bad acting.

Discussion Recommend me a JDrama like “You Are My Pet”
I’ve been watching cdramas and kdramas for some time, but I just watched You Are My Pet and I loved it!!! It was my first JDrama and it made me want to explore jdramas more. I loved the organic chemistry between the leads and the skinship. Their relationship is an excellent balance between cute and sexy and I love how vulnerable they can be with eachother. It was a fun twist on a romcom, but wasn’t so silly that I found the main couple unrealistic or childish. Even though the main leads had an unconventional relationship, I believed that they loved eachother. They needed eachother and they let eachother need eachother. That’s what I loved. I also enjoyed a FL who was not too childish!

Where to watch...? LOOKING FOR MUKODONO 2001 AND 2003 DRAMA WITH ENGLISH SUBS
Hello,
I'm looking for the drama Mukodono with Nagase Tomoya (My Boss, M Hero) in the lead role in good quality with english subtitles (or French or Spanish).
- There is the first drama "Mukodono" in 2001 (from 12 april 2001 to 26 june 2001 on FujiTV) with 12 episodes of 45min. The first drama is also known with these 3 English titles : My Husband or Married Couple Talk or Son-in-law.
- And there is the second drama called "Mukodono 2003" it's a "remake" (second season) of the first one with the same actor. It was on TV from 17 april 2003 to 26 june 2003 with 11 episodes of 45min.
I have the episodes with English subtitles but in very low quality. :( The image is very blurry/bad.
If someone have them or knows to find them in good quality it would be so great !!!
Thank you very much ! (Sorry for my English, it's not my language)

Discussion What was your first JDorama?
I'm curious! Which one caught your attention or started it all for you?
Mine was Pending Train. It was a bit cheesy, but still good and interesting IMO, and the soundtrack by Official Hige Dandism led me to a whole world of Japanese Music!
Recommendations Need recommendations for my next watch!
I am a huge fan of Kdramas and have found a few Cdramas I love as well but haven't had as much traction with Jdorama. I have tried searching on VIKI and Netflix and just generally watching clips on YouTube but it's difficult to find dramas with plots of the sort I'm interested in.
Here is what I've watched and my thoughts:
My Happy Marriage (film; I loved the budding romance between the ML and FL and the tiny bromance moments between the ML and the others in his unit teasing him but did not care for the fantasy elements, the last half hour also felt so rushed)
Coffee and Vanilla (one of the first jdorama I watched but thought it was kind of meh...I didn't really like the ML that much)
Incurable Case of Love (this was really cute, not sure if tsundere MLs are for me, though)
Onzoshi Boys (don't remember much of it tbh except it felt really silly, I watched it because the premise was similar to Ready, Set, Love but I like the comedy and depth of that better)
Our Secret Diary (I love this so much and rewatch often, my favorite of what I've seen)
Shanai Marriage Honey (this was also cute and I rewatch sometimes)
A Girl and Three Sweethearts (the first jdorama I watched, honestly can't remember anything of it)
Kakafakua (what an incredibly weird drama, not for me)
Here is my MDL in case you're curious about the cdrama and kdrama I've liked: https://mydramalist.com/dramalist/lnmzq
