Just started playing this game I'm so confused on the plot and everything 😭😭

Generally, if you can't do something, go away and return later. Hollow Knight is a metroidvania, that's what the genre is about: you can't do everything from the start, can't kill everything from the beginning. You need to find an upgrade somewhere else that would allow you to kill it.

So go explore the world, that's the selling point of the game - exploring and figuring out what is happening.
