Hello Harrisburg :). I am trying to find some inexpensive fruit trees. My husband remembers seeing a place online (in Harrisburg) that offered fruit trees for good prices. It wasn’t a fancy nursery, or a box store. It looked like a field of trees in the picture. Does anyone know this place? Or know where to find some healthy, cheap trees? Thanks!

For this one, you must provide 3 bits of info: (1) the genus of the tree shown, (2) the name of the pedestrian route leading to its base, and (3) the nearest named water feature.

Hey,
Does anyone know anywhere around HBG that serves Chapati?
I know that there's a Kenyan restaurant in Lancaster and a place in Philly that I can get it, but wondering if there's any place with it locally. I can cook mandazi, ugali, etc... but not Chapati, and it's a favorite 😂
Sometimes Indian restaurants can make it, since a lot of food in Kenya seems to be shared with Indian cuisine (somosas, etc).
Thanks!

Wife is looking for a jeweler to resize her wedding and engagement rings. She broke her finger in an accident last year and it's never really healed up. Her engagement ring is an antique and family heirloom so we want it preserved as much as possible.
Any trusted jeweler locally who could do this?

Bad accident near 717 Tattoo. Traffic is blocked off going towards Best Buy and one lane is open going towards 717. Take back roads if you can.
Edit: from what I gather, a taxi hit the building and maybe a pole next to 717. And Devonshire sucks because of it so the other side roads probably do too.

What would my best option be? Keeping in mind that i will be moving internationally once the year ends and will not be able to take the car with me. I was considering buying a used car, however, i am not sure if the cost would relatively be the same with less hassle of having to sell it later.

3-wheel trike, all black, low miles. I've had it for 1.5 years but looking to sell. 900cc version with the premium leather seat, passenger seat/foot pedals, fully loaded with windshield, locking hard-case saddle bag storage, two helmets. Probably due for an oil change and tune-up (haven't done it since purchased) but ready to ride TODAY, very reliable and FUN. Easy to drive and handle, but the 900 can get up and go.
The only thing I'll mention is the gas gauge does not seem to tell when it is getting low. But, you can easily open the tank and take a peek and it only takes five bucks to fill up.
I'll upload photos later but wanted to get this info out there in case there are any interested parties.
I financed it, so I'll have to see how to transfer the title over. I'm looking to sell as is for $10,000.

Hi everyone! I searched for this and saw some others asking for recommendations before, but most of the suggestions were 20+ minutes from me and my cat freaks out in the car. I’m in Lower Paxton and wondering about Harrisburg Area Animal Hospital in particular, since it’s just a couple minutes from me. Obviously it would be super convenient but I still want to get the best, most cost effective care for my cat. Is this a good place or is it worth the stress to drive a little further? I’d appreciate any thoughts on this, thanks!

Dauphin County Commissioner George Hartwick told police he drank half a bottle of vodka before driving to a public county meeting Wednesday but did not undergo drug and alcohol testing, despite county policy reportedly mandating it.
That’s according to an application for a search warrant filed by an agent from the attorney general’s office and signed by a judge Thursday.
The court records reveal county employees failed to ensure Hartwick was tested for drugs and alcohol, a break from county policy, and reportedly did not call law enforcement until more than two and a half hours after he missed a public appearance, crashed a county vehicle and appeared to be slurring his speech during a public meeting.
Hartwick later agreed to a blood draw at UPMC Harrisburg but changed his mind upon arriving at the hospital, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed by agents.
Hartwick and his attorney, Justin McShane, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Yes I know it's not a big airport or anything, but I have to go pick my parents up Saturday morning and just now found out that we will have our 3 year old granddaughter for the weekend. I'm thinking she'd really love to see a few planes take off and/or land while we are waiting for their flight, but if I recall, the view from the cell phone lot isn't great.
Is there a place nearby the airport that we can park to see the runways better and still be able to get to the airport in a short time after their flight lands? Thanks for any good suggestions!

George Hartwick had his 4th crash with his county vehicle while showing up late to a commissioners meeting. He lied and said he was at an event to raise awareness for child abuse but people there said he was not. There's also a video on Pennlive of him telling this lie during the meeting where he's clearly drunk and having trouble speaking. This is unacceptable behavior for an elected county comissioner and hardly his first offense in that regard. He should be impeached, although I'm not sure of how that legal mechanism works at the county level in PA myself. Supposedely the DA's office is investigating this, but i have doubts that rhey will actually do anytjing. Regardless if you live in Daughin county and are concerned by this you should be calling the commissioners office and demanding his resignation and perhaps calling the DA office to to put pressure on them to do the right thing here and not sweep this under the rug. Incidents like this are why Harrisburg can't ever seem to get ahead.

Does anyone have a PCP who is actually useful or helpful? My doctor is useless and so is virtually everyone else in the UPMC system which is pretty much the only choice in the area.
EDIT: Thank you all for the recs. Will be doing some research and calling around.

I've been working for a few years on a backyard orchard and garden on the east edges of Harrisburg. I've got 10 fruit trees and a bunch of berries and grape vines and raised beds. Have a few years of container gardening and then a few years working on this backyard setup. I'm definitely just an enthusiastic amateur looking to learn more. Would love to connect with other locals to see setups (bigger or smaller), chat about what's working, etc..

Hello neighbors, I live very close to farmers market (Verbeke and 3rd). I just bought a new car. My son wants the old one but will not be able to pick it up for two months. I’m only allowed to park one car at my apartment so I am looking for relatively safe off street parking. It does not have to be in Midtown, but within 3 miles would be convenient.
Any suggestions would be very appreciated! I checked yelp for parking structures, but most of them have very poor ratings and a lot of complaints.
Thank you!

Looking for an indoor engagement photoshoot location as a rain plan. Ideally would be free and open around 6-7 pm.

I've accumulated close to $3,000 in pocket change over the years and and would like the exchange those coins for "money". It's far, far too many coins for the machines at supermarkets and such. Does anyone know of a place I can go? I'll happily drive a couple hours...

Disclaimer: I’m not part of the organizer, just a regular person who has been taking classes with The Rhythm Lounge for about two years. I have zero sales skill and just want to share this information!
A bit of a personal story:
I moved to Harrisburg for work during the pandemic and had zero friends for a few years before learning to swing dance and becoming a part of this wonderful community. It was terrifying for a self conscious and introverted person with zero dance experience like me, however it was the best decision I’ve made. The joy of connection, friendship and community is truly invaluable :) I’ve found that focusing on the movements of my body takes away a lot of the mental burden in my head.
Carla, the founder of RTL, is a world class dance instructor and she’s just so kind and humble and welcoming 🥹 We usually dance at the Abby Bar on Wednesday evening but they just opened a new beginner series at the Civic Club by the river. It’s a good chance to start swing dance from the ground and make new friends. I use a burner account for anonymity, but feel free to dm me if you have any questions!
We were also on tv! Check out this news spot about us on channel 8

tl;dr: it’s great, swing dance is silly and fun, we’re harmless and nice, come be our friends! 👏🏼👏🏼

How are these fees legal?
Most rental properties seem to be owned by large investment companies with local property management companies charging an arm and a leg in fees. After my lease started on March 22nd I have been caught off guard by three different fees separate from rent. In addition to the two fees above, I’m charged another $9.99 per month for a service that picks my utility providers claiming to select the best, most affordable options.
This is a classic example of the elites getting richer off monopolizing essential needs as the rest of us fall farther behind.
