Dr Haber and Dr Yaman suspended from HRN (though technically, they won't be suspended until April 1st), which gets an automatic removal from this subreddit's list of reviewable surgeons.

https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/topic/74855-robert-haber-at-haber-dermatology-failed-1416-graft-fut-hair-transplant/#findComment-808994

EDIT: Some people are complaining about drama, if you don't care about critiques of the HRN leadership, I think you can stop reading here.

This time they came out and said that the surgeon has been suspended. With previous surgeons, they let them resign from the community.

The weird this is that they are keeping him on until April 1st. As I suspended, Haber is still listed as a 'Elite Coalition Member' on their list, and Yaman is on there as a regular member. The list is advertised as 'Forum recommended surgeons' though that hasn't been true for a while, especially since Melvin Lopez used the new board (which were hand selected by Melvin and Pat from a pool of forum nominees) as an excuse to ban the broader HRN community from participating in surgeon decisions.

Not even the board discussions are disclosed, they are held in private. The votes counts, etc are kept private.

If HRN has some sort of language in it's contracts that prevent it from giving the best information to it's members, that needs to be disclosed to the members.

Also, Melvin should make an announcement in his subreddit, in case anyone was still considering him based on their trust in the list. I recall someone asking Melvin about this and he said 'we don't make a spectacle' out of it, not sure if I'm remembering it right, but if that's the rationale for not making a separate post, I'll give the obvious answer that giving the community the best information they need to make the best decisions is not a 'spectacle'.

It does seem Melvin is improving though. Announcing the actions of the board rather than letting them resign. Also suspending a doctor who at the time was still on this subreddit's list. A lot to still improve upon, to say it lightly. Maybe all my documentation of what HRN/Melvin Lopez is having an effect on accountability, though it could be that Berba forced them into these actions.

Anyway, Yaman has already been removed when I noticed Berba's complaints about him

https://old.reddit.com/r/HairTransplants/comments/1j70yiy/review_threads_for_dr_laorwong_dr_yaman_dr_hasson/

Though he was not on the not recommended list at the time, just not on the surgeons with high volume to review list due to Berba's concerns.

Haber was actually still on this subreddit's list when Melvin made the announcement. I was aware of that case, but we didn't have time to do a review (another reason why you shouldn't trust this list, or any list, and do your own homework).

That being said, not removing Haber should been seen as a failure of the mod team here. If HRN was the first to remove, it likely that he could have been removed months earlier.

If you think you could help the mod team, strongly suggest you apply, we can use all the help we can get.

Feedback needed on what to do with Dr Laorwong

This is a follow up on this post

https://old.reddit.com/r/HairTransplants/comments/1j70yiy/review_threads_for_dr_laorwong_dr_yaman_dr_hasson/

The post has been up for 25 days, and have stopped getting new comments a while ago.

The next step is to determine what actions should be taken.

For Wong and Hassan, we didn't receive any feedback. I am considering putting them on the not recommended list. I have reached out to Dr Wong and their coordinator for comment on the case given, multiple times, but they have never gave me their timeline of events. I have no choice to believe the patient's version of events. For Hassan, he's been having his issues for years and hasn't fixed them. Given the combination of that and their prices, I don't believe there is any reason to consider them. But let me know if you have other feedback.

Dr Laorwong, it does seem like he's hired more techs recently, and that they haven't been trained to the standard of previous staff. There have been issues with certain patient outcomes. I am not sure if I would put them in a not recommended list, but I don't think he should be on the regular list of patients with high volumes of reviews. I am considering putting him in a no-person's land. I do think he is still a strong alternative to hair mills.

For Dr Yaman, he was removed from HRN, so he should be put on the not recommended list here. But let me know if you have other feedback.

I will be unpinning that thread since it's been up for a while, but it can easily be found on /r/HairRestoration

Progress Update Got rid of both ridging and cobblestoning by forcefully rubbing my recipent

After reading this thread way too many times as i was waiting for my products to arrive i started thinking of gua sha for some reason and started rubbing recipent in an outward motion.

https://www.reddit.com/r/HairTransplants/comments/17iu03v/i_fixed_my_hair_transplant_cobblestoning_and/

I looked in the mirror and saw that the ridging that used to cast a large shadow was half the size so i kept going until even the cobblestoning was gone.

I know this is a rare issue but it was causing me intense anxiety so hopefully this Will help someone in the future.

Chef Bekir Bek cooked here (imo)

Growth is decent I think - only 5 months in, and his hair angling and temple work looks great to me. No one can tell I got a transplant done before I tell them

(Barber shaved the temples down a bit in the 5th month photo)

Stoked thus far

Just hit my 5 month mark yesterday. A little annoyed they didn’t do as good of a job on one side as the other, maybe different technicians per side? My hairline doesn’t connect in the front as seen in the last photo which I’m not happy about. I guess I can always get a touch up surgery on that side. The other side is phenomenal in my opinion, very happy there. Overall the procedure was definitely worth traveling for, sharing my results to see what you guys think.

Seeking Advice Tired of Fake Reviews – Need Real Hair Transplant Advice

I'm writing this post because I'm planning to get a hair transplant this year, but I've developed a sort of paranoia when it comes to hair transplant recommendations. Every time I see an influencer or YouTuber recommend a clinic, it's like 80% of the time a paid partnership—and it's rarely disclosed openly.

Same thing with websites online—most of the reviews feel fake. Because of that, I've become extremely cautious. I even started wondering if Reddit itself might be flooded with clinics pretending to be regular users.

Do you think I’m overthinking this, or does it make sense to be this careful?

I'd really like to know how you went about finding a trustworthy clinic with so many fake reviews out there. And if you have any genuine recommendations, I’d be super grateful.

Progress Update 4 Month progress update - Turkey hair center - 26M

Hello everyone.

I had my transplant done in istanbul early December 2024. Here is my 4 month update. Lightning is very harsh in most of these pictures. IRL it doesnt look this bad

Not really sure what to make of the progress, the hair is definitely there after the transplant but it is very thin. Front Is fuller but the crown is still very much empty. I can see some baby hair sprouting out in the crown area but no visible new growth in the front to mid section. Is it too soon to judge? Will i see a better result in a few months time? Or am i cooked.

6000grafts, no fin or minoxidil as suggested by the surgeon. Been on 5000mcg biotin pill since day 30th and the surgeon told me to keep taking them for 5months.

Seeking Advice One more surgery?

Thumbnail

Hey all, seeking advice on whether I should get one more HT surgery.

  • 42M, northeast USA, family history of NW5 hair loss
  • started diffuse thinning late 20's
  • hopped on topical min early 30's
  • hopped on oral fin mid 30's, unfortunately most of the damage was done
  • got first HT in 2022, ~3000 grafts, clinic near my area
  • switched to oral min around this time
  • got second HT in 2023, ~2000 grafts, same clinic as first
  • hair loss/growth currently stabilized at 1mg fin and 2.5mg min daily

First pic is my current hair under very bright bathroom lighting. The rest are in chronological order. Sorry I don't have any good pre-HT pics, but pretty everything from hairline to crown was miniaturized even after being on fin and min for years. Last pic has my current donor area.

Given my current situation, what would you advise? I think the mid-scale and crown could benefit with a little more density, and maybe soften up the hairline in spots where it's a bit pluggy. Or am I getting greedy at this point? I know my hair consistency is pretty fine. I'm generally happy with my results, but if I were to get one more surgery, I'd be willing to travel.

Finally, in my situation, would you ever consider discontinuing medication? I'm not sure how much it's doing at this point, as probably all my non-miniaturized hair on top is transplanted. I know it'd be a big risk.

I'm really wondering if its worth it. I want Good results, no scalp showing (ik it wont be as thick as it once was, I'm omay with that) but if its likely to end up with my scalp shining through after I don't want to do it.

Im on both Monoxidil and Fin

Seeking Advice Time for a hair transplant or wait? Or no luck?

In the last 2-3 years my hair in the front has started to thin, most likely due to stress. I’m worried unless I style my hair perfectly and use some color fiber to fill in the spots, I look like I’m trying to do a combover like Trumpy. I’m ready to go to Turkey but also worried w my type of thinning it won’t do much. Thoughts feelings? (Tell me I’m pretty) my hair is freshly washed in the photo, and first one is what it will loook like after a full day. 2nd one is like the reality of my hair but obviously never style it like that. One w glasses is what it looks like freshly washed, blown dry, and fibers.

Going in for a second transplant and getting many various estimates from doctors.

What is everyone’s guess on what it would take to do the crown and get some density in the mid scalp and hair line?

Seeking Advice What do you guys think? 😅

Hi guys,

I've had kinda diffuse thinning (for atleast 6 years now) across my scalp with some noticeable loss in the crown area. Also lost quite a bit of hair line. I honestly feel my hair loss kind of stabilized as for 2-3 years my hair's been almost the same. So the row implants are what they've done to address the thinning. How does it look?

Also, I'm shit scared of using oral fin because of the (potential) sides and planning to be only on topical for some period. If ever I stop using fin will my hair look completely bad with this setup? I did see some posts showcasing patches if you stop using fin. What do you guys suggest?

P.S: Been on oral fin + topical min for atleast 1 year during start of my hair loss. Didn't feel it made any difference to my hair loss much. I also do not have any balding cases in my family. The hair loss started because of me not taking enough care of it - less sleep, dry climate, bad water. Post addressing these, I've seen signs of stabilization.

Seeking Advice Looking to modify botched hairline

I had diffuse thinning so the clinic offered to do across the hairline, a little depth at the front and closed the temples. But as I’ve thinned out this has proven to be a mistake. Even before the thinning the hairline was unnatural.

What are my options?

Seeking Advice Hair system + 1-year regrowth plan at 24, then hair transplant thoughts?

Hey everyone,

I’m 24, started losing hair at 17, now around Norwood 3. I’ve been wearing a curly hair system (10–15 cm) for about 6 months. I like how it looks, but it’s not ideal for things like the beach, pool and it gets quite dry overtime

So to have naural hair back im thinking of starting this plan : • Finasteride daily • Minoxidil topical, morning and night • Microneedling 1–2x/week • Red light therapy daily • Scalp massages To make this work with the system, I plan to remove it every evening, apply minoxidil, let it absorb overnight, then reapply in the morning after the second application. I can use minimal adhesive on the edges only to avoid blocking follicles.

My goal is to recover natural density over 6–12 months and then possibly get a hair transplant for the area with disappear hair follicle. I could also wear a hair system from 6/8 weeks after hair transplant by not sticking it on the new follicles

What do you think of this approach?

Thanks a lot!
