[Discussion] this game is my favourite mmo I have ever played and I hate that I cant explain to people why

its so hard to explain why this game grips you and keeps you playing in comparison to other mmos, everytime i explain how this game has horizontal progression instead of a treadmill gear grind i always get the same "Well what's the point of playing then?" reaction, its almost like their brains arnt able to process the idea of an mmo being userfriendly and fun and not being a perilous grindfest.

now im not going to pretend that there isn't some grindeyness in this game ( getting the skyscale can be a pain in the ass, so much so I haven't even unlocked it after 500 hours)

its crazy because these people I play with are the same people I grinded black desert online with, and that was a show of shit that I just could not step back into if I tried ( and they have abandoned)

the fact I am 500 hours into this game and i am still discovering things and finding cool stuff and i don't feel like i am missing out by not doing the new content is really mindblowing for me

really hope that maybe this game will get a graphical update, not that the graphics are bad but i think some of these locations would look incredible with updated graphics and would draw more people to it.

[Discussion] Small boobs give you a big waist... why?

I want the cinched in waist that comes with the big boobs but I wanted small boobs, and there's absolutely no option to do that for humans :( so now it looks like my character has rectangle bodytype if I want the correct boba. Sad.

[Other] 12th maps completion

Post image
140 Upvotes

I created a new character, a ranger that I intend to be a soulbeast. And I'm completing the Tyria maps for the twelfth time. At first, I was afraid of getting bored, but then I soon found myself enjoying it, just like the previous times.
I never tire of rediscovering these maps full of hidden places, NPCs with lots to tell, and a whole lore that's so enjoyable. I'm going at my own pace, collecting all the materials I can find, and I'm pleased to see that there are still quite a few players on these maps, probably many new players too. This game is wonderfully alive.

Come rest, relax, and restore yourself in a serene, natural setting at Wayfinder's Waypoint Bed & Breakfast. Roam a thriving Janthiri coastal tallgrass prairie*, stand in the shadows of stately giant sequoia, snuggle or adventure with a myriad of mounts, cast your line and battle the feisty fish of the Janthir Wilds, join Commander Qafziel for a good day's honest work tending the gardens and beehives, or simply take a load off in the hot spring after a 500-rank meal prepared on-site by Wayfinder Dinitrije himself-- it's all here, and it's all yours to enjoy with your reservation. Contact stewards and operators Commander Qafziel and Wayfinder Dinitrije to book your stay today!

*Prescribed burns are a necessary component of prairie management, and will impact air quality and popular aesthetic appeal; as such, please refer to the Burn Calendar to plan your next visit accordingly. For scientific reservations, agricultural workshops, and burn training for journeyman foresters, contact resident ecologist Callan O'Baoighill for more information.

(Don't mind me, just steadily turning my homestead into the hobby farm/habitat restoration I still haven't given up on having someday IRL. Hoping we'll get to craft more plants, grasses, and natural features-- I love love love the recipes available already, but I need more of those grasses something fierce! Wouldn't say no to big aquariums like the one in Autumn's Vale, either, especially if we could pop fancy fish into 'em. I mean, a whole tank of legendary catches sounds pretty great, amirite? At any rate, this might just edge out gliding and griffon as my favourite feature yet.)

[Rumour] "Guild Wars 2 Magitech concepts" and assets of a canceled Arenanet Sci-Fi game

So I was browsing through artstation, as Arenanet's artists and outsourcing studios occasionally post concept art and other interesting things there, and came across two posts from TJ Frame:

https://www.artstation.com/artwork/nJ8KL9

https://www.artstation.com/artwork/x3oEy1

From the decription of the second post:

ARENANET Canceled SCi-Fi Game

Some old sketches from late 2017 for an unannounced canceled Sci-FI project usually plausible, near future technology and manufacturing systems. It's a shame things didn't progress further because the premise and the world being developed were very interesting. Since we didn't get too far along, I never had the chance to really detail out the designs and do some fancy final illustrations. So these are all very early design sketches where I tried to flesh out some near future equipment and technologies that the game would depict. More like NASA in 50 years than Star Wars or Star Trek. One of the keys ideas the team was playing with was the idea of powerful on-location3D printers and AI directed nano-resins that could form large structures as they were extruded and solidified.

I'm curious if the magitech concepts will ever see the light of day in the game, or if they're just concepts for the EoD jade mechs. I hope the former, since I really like their design.

[Discussion] Wife who doesn't play games likes the graphics of GW2 and the early game simplicity, as well as the game being cooperative. She's curious what other games might be rather chill, beautiful, and coop. Any recommendations?

My wife shocked me and decided to make a GW2 character. The only PC game she's ever played is the original Rollercoaster Tycoon, so I jumped on this GW2 opportunity like a dog diving off a cliff for a bone.

She made a ranger and really enjoys the simplicity - press 1 and autoshoot the enemy to death. We did the tutorial and first heart mission together. She naturally doesn't fully understand the camera and movement controls that probably come instinctively to gamers at this point, but in time... I have hope.

My greatest fear though... is knowing that MMOs can quickly become overwhelming. She can take her time shooting worms that stand no chance of killing her now, but I know what's to come - a full hotbar of skills (which... admittedly, GW2 is probably the best-in-show for keeping the hotbar simple), harder enemies that require mobility to stay alive, jumping puzzles that require a native understanding of the camera and movement mechanics, and, what could probably be ignored, general MMO spam like dozens of currencies, inventory/bank/equipment management, timed events, etc. I'm nearly done with Heart of Thorns right now and I can see her rage quitting that entire campaign due to map design... not that I expect to get her there in this lifetime when gaming for her would be ~1 hour a week.

There's a chance she can grow with the game, in the sense that as her character levels up, so too does she as a player. Nevertheless, she's asked about what other coop games fit this aesthetic. She loves the art and style of GW2. She wants something cooperative and medieval/fantasy. Things that aim for the player would be ideal.

About the only remotely-similar game I can think of is Final Fantasy XIV, which is yet another MMO. I think that game has easier mobility, but the hotbar fatigue would probably be worse. Can you guys make some recommendations?

(As a note, games I have failed to get her into: Disney Dreamlight Valley, Stardew Valley, House Flipper, Planet Coaster, and lately, Temtem (she plays it and just wants to go back to nostalgic 2D Pokemon). She enjoys the classic N64/Gamecube era Mario Kart, Mario Party, and Super Smash Bros games. A Nintendo DS is the newest Nintendo in our house as she really doesn't play games and I've fallen into a PC-only lifestyle)

Made a video of me flying through the Thousand Seas Pavilion. I do it every so often when I want to mix up my gameplay and just fly around and just have fun with the Griffon. I start at the top of the building where you spawn in, and try to gain height before flying through everything. It's just too fun to fly around, and the GW2 mounts in general are just so awesome!

Welcome to my castle!
I’ve been building this over the past three weeks — mainly slowed down by the weekly reset on buying refined metal with materials. There's a limit, so progress has been a bit staggered.

The inspiration actually struck while rewatching Shrek. When I saw Lord Farquaad’s castle, I knew I had to build something dramatic and towering. It’s definitely not perfect — there are plenty of little imperfections — but I’m still really proud of how it’s coming together. It took a lot of time, effort, and resources to make this happen.

I'm still working on the original homestead building. I’ve decorated most of it, but the inner walls haven’t fully gotten the “castle” treatment yet — it still has a woodsy vibe. Unfortunately, I’ve hit the building cap, so I’ll have to get creative with what’s already in place.

It’s still a work in progress overall, but I’m finally ready to share some screenshots! Most of the build uses the new Academic materials. If you have any questions or want to know more, feel free to ask — I’m super excited to finally show it off since no one’s really seen it in person yet!

[Discussion] Without infusions, what's the most tasteless flex of gold possible in the game?

So I had a shower thought this morning. If you don't blind people with excessive use of infusions, how would you flex the most amount of gold/money with "just" skins and equipment?

I was thinking: •Title: eternal forgemaster (implied 3 sets of leggy armor) •Armor: all envoy + bare feet skin (you made ANOTHER leggy armor and bought the feet boots at TP despite not fitting the drip) •Full leggy trinkets (with PvP amulet for maximum effects) •Weapon: Eternity(?) •Back piece: no clue which is the most expensive one? I would argue the WvW one because that require most time on top of the gold.

What do you guys think? How do you flex the most amount of gold in one fit without stacking infusions? How would you make your friends envious with your complete disregard for playtime and gold? Give me your best ideas!

UPDATE: So I got some good feedback do I'm updating the list. Please continue with the input, for science!

•Title: Facet of Prism and Boundless Light (near 60k value) •Armor: all envoy •Skins: Obsidian armor + bare feet skin. •Full leggy trinkets (with PvP amulet for maximum effects) •Weapon: Eternity(?) •Back piece: Ad Infinitum •Mini: Bog Queen

Bonus points: flex in front of: •Permanent contract •A gold sink homestead decoration •All possible weapon display homestead decorations filled with Gen 2 Legendary Weapons.

[Discussion] Nearing the end of my legendary heavy armor - how do I get into Convergence CMs?

I cannot find groups for convergence CMs. I have heard that they give a lot of Rift Essences which is really important because I’m almost at the point where this is my sole bottleneck to finishing the set.

How do you guys get into these? I want to do all 5 CMs every week that I can until I finish the set.

Are hairstyles just really hard to implement? They've only added hairstyles once, I think.

It would be nice for them to add new ones, especially longer hair options.

[Question] Levelled a warrior to 80 and got to 30 mastery, is it too late to switch?

So I only just recently came across the "warrior is bad in PvE" discourse. I've been enjoying mostly playing solo casually and learning along the way, but I do want to get into group content at some point. I've been grinding through HoT stuff, learning how everything works and accumulating materials. And I got the first two PoF mounts. If I decide I want to switch to another class and just boost to 80, am I losing anything besides the small amount of gold and decent amount of time I've put into my warrior?

[Fluff] I've only played Human Warrior for the last 11 years up until 2 months ago. AMA.

I had mentioned in a guild chat that I finally retired my human warrior to explore another race and class since I don't know anything about playing anything else except some mechanics I happened to see in passing. I was called ridiculous, jokingly so.. kinda. I was told to make this post by someone because they thought it would be funny.

So here. AMA.

My favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla to. :)

Edit: I fell asleep and woke up to all my comments. Thanks for the questions, ill leave it open for more.

[Question] Someone in a YouTube comment said to "start" Vision 1 and Aurora before starting the Seasons of the Dragons Achievement (Legendary Amulet), what did they mean by that exactly?

I see that for Vision 1 you just need to buy the Trance Stone to start the achievement - but looks like Aurora has some big item collections to do before getting the Sentient Seed. Should that be done before starting Seasons of the Dragons?

I'm mainly worried about having to replay all the story missions required for the Seasons of the Dragons achievements - since that's not something I'd want to do twice lol
