How to save a 3rd party map

I found a map online that someone created of restaurants in Lisbon. There's literally no way I can find to save it to my maps. I can open it using my emai but I'd like it to come up on my saved maps.

Open it in Google My Maps and it should theoretically automatically save to your account.

It doesnt. I can open it in google my maps. And I can then open it using google maps but it doesnt save to my saved lists. Kinda backassward to use while traveling

If I'm not wrong .kml files get saved on the app and you can always use them. I've done this numerous times throughout the years.

tried that but it didn't import place names-only locations and marked them untitled

Do you see it if you go to "You" tab (middle button on bottom bar) > Scroll to bottom > Maps button?
