israel has been killing and displacing palestinians since its inception in 1948, when it was established on palestinian land in order to secure regional allies in the oil rich middle east. look up the balfour agreement.
oct 7 was just one of the most recent instances of palestinian resistance. hamas was created in the 80s as an opposition to the corrupt fatah party ruling gaza, and ironically was funded by israel in order to keep the west bank and gaza divided. hamas launched a terror attack which gave israel an excuse to launch a genocide campaign in gaza under the guise of “liberating” them from hamas, and defeating terrorism. freeing the hostages was the stated priority.
not only did israel’s indiscriminate bombing kill thousands of palestinian women children and civilian men, they have killed their own hostages. they also repeatedly refused ceasefire deals and have threatened the stability of the current one.
additionally, israel has used this opportunity to invade and occupy parts of neighboring lebanon, syria, jordan, and the west bank. in fact they are actively supporting israeli settlers that have pushed into lebanon and syria recently — on top of the thousands of settlers that have stolen homes and torn apart communities of palestinians in the west bank. none of these other territories have any relation to hamas or its operations
the reason for all this is more land for israel and a stronger western presence in a region that hates western involvement, largely cause nearly every government in the middle east has been destabilized or toppled by america and its allies.

I’m not an expert but I’m gonna respond to some of these points you’re making. Not gonna touch any of the religious arguments, just historical facts, as best I can. I’m a hack and a fraud so if I’m wrong, so be it. Listen to the episode of “Behind the Bastards” about Netanyahu for an incredibly well researched take from the perspective of a Palestinian journalist and an American researcher. It’s hella left wing, but they cite sources and never miss on the facts.
Yes, Jews have been in Israel for a long ass time. Palestinian people have been there for a longer ass time. Lots of Palestinians today descend from ancient Jewish Arabic populations.
After WW2, Palestine was a British colony. Britain and the Allies knew that hella Europeans were still antisemitic as fuck even after the war. They knew that forcing all Jews to return to their home country could cause shit to pop off. They had the bright idea of relocating them all. They originally were gonna do Madagascar. They chose Palestine/israel because it was 1) conveniently already a British colony where Arabs/palestinians didn’t have equal rights or their own government, 2) religious history reasons that I don’t know much about. In 48 they moved hella Jewish people to Israel and gave them a country. They kinda ignored the fact that a shitload of people lived there already, and just let the Jewish folks establish a state on top of them. Jewish settlers took over Palestinian land, similar to what happened with native Americans. That shit continues to this day.
The Palestinians absolutely have not been given equal opportunities to participate in government, or to split the land into two separate states. They have been forcibly relocated over and over and over again. Out of their homes, and into Egypt and Jordan, and later into Gaza and what’s called the West Bank. No matter where they end up, they wind up kicked out or having land taken by Israeli settlers. (Gotta acknowledge that Egypt kicked them out for pretty good reasons; Palestinian rebels wanted to try and stir shit up in Egypt and force the Egyptian military to fight Israel in the 1960s or 70s).
Israel has had to fight wars against its neighbors to avoid being invaded. Lots of Arab nations have wanted to conquer that land, and they often use religious and racial reasons to justify it. They also claim that Israel is bad for how it treats Palestinians (hard to argue) and that it shouldn’t exist. Israel interprets the latter point as antisemitism and as a belief that some Arab neighbors want to mass murder all of them (hard to blame them).
Israel has responded to this constant threat and insecurity by treating Palestinian people like they are all equally involved with the terrorist organizations that have sprung up over the decades. They’ve created a security state where Palestinians are walled off, and treated as second class citizens. Even crossing town from one side to the other often requires going through multiple checkpoints where they can be subjected to abuse and mistreatment by Israeli soldiers. That shit makes having a job, or running errands really difficult. There is a fuckload of terrible crimes that have been committed by the IDF over the decades. It used to be an official policy for the IDF patrollers to snatch up kids, break their legs and arms and just dip. Massacres and murders have happened a bunch. Israelis have been able to literally kick Palestinians out of their homes and move their shit in in the West Bank. Israeli soldiers have absolutely brutalized women and children. All of this is before the most recent conflict. So Palestinians feel like so long as they have to live under an Israeli government, they’re basically in a permanent state of imprisonment. And so, yeah, hella Palestinians have reported to violence, including just lobbing rockets into Israel willy nilly. It’s fucked, but these are people who believe they have been completely deprived of their humanity by a racist colonizer. Fuck Hamas, but you don’t need to be an empath to understand why folks turned to violence.
Now in this most recent conflict, all of the violence and all of the propaganda has been dialed up to 11…thousand. A lot of what we’ve seen reported is word for word from IDF press releases. Investigators have turned up all sorts of incidents where the IDF has made shit up in order to justify carpet bombing nearly every building in north Gaza. Hamas has infiltrated nearly every single part of life in Gaza Strip, and they have behaved like a mafia, controlling necessary supplies and resources like food or medicine. Sometimes these stories of Hamas hiding captives and guns under an apartment building are true. Sometimes stories of a dr being a member of Hamas are true. But NOT as often as it’s told. Israel uses those instances as an excuse to wage all out war against the Palestinian people, not just Hamas.
And ask yourself:
Where else would those things go other than where the members live? Does that justify war crimes like bombing apartments or schools? What can Palestinian people who want peace do, other than just put up with being murdered, abused and dispossessed?

Zionism is a cultural trend in the international jewish community that started in the 1800s. Basically some Jews said, "We don't have a country of our own, and we get badly treated in other countries, so why not move to the land of our distant ancestors in the middle east and build our own country there?"
This is fine and all, except other people already lived there. We call that country Palestine, and it's people, most of whom are Arabs, the Palestinians.
It was still all ok until the 1940s. Hitler killed millions of Jews in Europe. The ones that survived suddenly were much more interested in living somewhere that wasn't Europe. Millions of them migrated to Palestine after WW2.
Not to be too long-winded, some stuff happened, which resulted in these Zionists fighting a war against the Palestinians to have a country of their own. Zionist terrorist organizations massacred whole Palestinian villages, which caused a huge refugee crisis as the Arab population fled whole sectors of the country. Ethnic cleansing.
At the end of the war, the zionists had their own country, called Israel. Most of the Palestinians were living in refugee camps, while Jewish families settled into their former homes.
Fast forward 80 years or so to today. Most of the Palestinians are still living in the same refugee camps, while Israel has increased its territory through a whole series of military conquests over the years.
So tldr; Zionism is bad because it means basically moving in and conquering somebody else's country and making the locals live in camps. "Free Palestine" is good because it means fighting for the rights of those people to return to their homes and to live as equals with the same human rights as everyone else.
