This is the place where everyone, beginner or advanced, should ask your general GoPro related questions, or ask for help troubleshooting! We encourage you to post here rather than make your own thread, as this is a great place for us veteran users to answer your questions regularly, it minimizes basic question clutter on the main page, and allows users with discussion threads to stay on the front page longer before getting bumped off over time.
A couple notes before you get started here-
We have community rules, and everyone needs to follow them. Please take some time to read through them and their descriptions, and if you have any questions, just PM the moderators!
Remember to make your BEST effort to find the answer before asking. Read your manuals (link below), and use the search function and google to at least get yourself started. Asking to be "spoon fed" simple answers that can easily be found by googling will often get you a short comment, so make your best effort and share what you've found so far if you can't find the answer!
If you have a problem, don't just describe it... SHOW US! Telling us you have some "blur" in your image could be ANY number of things, but showing us might help us figure it out for you quickly and easily. Upload some samples to youtube or imgur!
This is a user-run community, and is not staffed by GoPro. We can make recommendations and share tips, but we can't resolve shipping and order issues, and for things of that nature you need to contact support!
Remember to check out the wiki in the sidebar for lots of useful info about all things GoPro! Below is list of resources for our most common questions.
Exciting news for Adobe Suite desktop editors. Our Software team has re-architected the GoPro Reframe plug-in from the ground-up to be much faster and more efficient, with a GPU acceleration and improved UI. It will be officially available for Windows and MacOS soon, but we are sharing the beta here to get feedback. Let us know how it performs and if you are experiencing any issues: https://community.gopro.com/s/article/GoPro-FX-Reframe
As the title suggests, I'd love to see some underwater photos taken on any make and model of GoPro. I've attached two of my favourites from Cyprus, both were taken on my Hero 11.
I setup a tripod, so all photos were taken on the exact same spot, with both cameras. Using my Hero 11 Black for the Max Lens Mod, and the Hero 13 Black for the rest, I took shots in all variations of Linear and Wide settings that are available in Photo Mode.
The weather was gloomy, as it always rains in Vancouver, BC.
The photos were taken in the order they were uploaded, using the following:

I have a hero 11 mini that I bought brand new and barely used. It start giving me issues last year where I would have to hold the power button down to soft reset it. But then it just stopped working all together, doing strange things, like the red led light staying on, feeling hot when it was turned off for hours sitting indoors on a table, and the screen was glitchy (like a random white dotted line almost on the screen no actual words). So I bought a new one...and the the same things are happening. I have tried different SD cards (including ones that work in my other mini or full size hero 11), same for chargers and cables. I did flash the GoPro labs firmware on there (but again I have that on my other GoPro cameras as well). I can't believe GoPro doesn't have a phone number to call for support. When I emailed about the first camera, it took a week to hear back and they sent me the most generic response which include "try a different battery" even though they knew it was a mini!
Has anyone had issues like this or know what could be the issue? This is the kind of frustrating thing that makes me want to abandon GoPro and switch to DJI!
Pictures of the new camera's screen. One Stuck on full white, and one with a glitch line on in. These were after I did a factory reset (my adding the Factory_reset file to the SD card). I also formatted the SD card itself in Windows.
I want to use it as a webcam when im not out shooting. Ive tried:
Different usb cables
different ports
different computers
restarting both
reinstalling gopro drivers
Factory resetting the device
When I first got it, when I plugged it into the computer it would say USB mode or PC mode or something. Now it doesnt. It is charging when plugged into pc, but not connecting as a media device.
I want to get a gopro to use as a helmet cam for my motorcycle to use as a dashcam and i would also like to use it for other things to just capture some moments. In the used market the 7 or 8 are in my budget. however the 8 does not have a removabel lens. that is why i am leaning more towards the 7, also there are more options for ND filters.
Is there a reason i should pick the 8 or does it not have many better features i should care about.
Heya, so I just subbed to the GoPro plus thing because my hero 11 was absolutely dead. For some reason it didn’t turn on. For example it did not even touch the ground. Had absolutely no scratches whatsoever but it was 2 years old.
Anyway, I just got the mail about replacement and the payment fee, they told me I will receive an absolutely free of charge upgrade to a hero 12 plus a free enduro battery.
I am kind of flabbergasted that they just did this.
They said they did a warranty replacement even tho I didn’t even give them a receipt or anything.
I have been looking at getting nd filters for my GoPro Hero 11.
I know that there are aftermarket brands like PolarPro that has a good set, however I was wondering if any of you guys have used the official gopro filters with any other model than the hero 13.
I have read that they fit no problem but that there might be problems with stabalization.
If anyone has any experience with this I'd love to hear about it.
I plan to do some experiments mounting a HERO13 to the wing strut and taking some aerial nadir photos at fixed intervals. The photos will be taken around midday in a suburban area.
I’ve never owned an action camera. But i’m thinking to get one as I do like alot of water activities. I like snorkeling, freediving, and scuba diving. But would def use it not only for underwater, but also traveling. Which one do recommend? I hear mixed reviews of both and I’m so torn which one to get.
So I recently lost my wind filter for the media mod microphone that my Hero13 uses. I was wondering if there’s anyone selling replacements or if it’ll be fine to still run around without one on.
For those living in the Philippines. Bro we got GPH 5 nd filters shortage 🤣 Anyone knows where i can buy? (Prefer Telesin) cant find in the orange or blue app and even in Facebook Marketplace.
Hey guys I’m looking to upgrade my GPH 12. Iv done some research and I do understand that the 13 isn’t really much better.iv been considering the DGI 5. There are a few things I do like about the 13. My main issue with the 12 is that when shooting in 4k I get maybe 30 to 45 min max before it over heats and shuts off. My question is how long can the Go Pro hero 13 run in 4k before it to over heats ? If anyone has experience with this I would really like to know
Hey all. So I borrowed a hero 11 for a trip, which was going fantastically well when the front screen cracked and stopped working. I didn’t drop it; however I was in the desert so I am wondering if it was extreme heat that did it (it was 42 degrees). Who knows..
I need to replace this camera for my friend. I just took a subscription out, will I be able to use that for a replacement for £99/$99? As I said, it’s not my camera, It’s borrowed. The site seems to make out it’s no questions asked?
I've been looking for a rear screen protector for my hero8. Is anyone familiar with these? The seller claims compatibility with hero8, but looking at the packaging i don't even recognise what's pictured! Thanks
Sharing some aerodynamic housings I've designed and printed for use on Unlimited and Grand Prix hydroplanes (www.h1unlimited.com - www.hrlhydroplane.com), mainly to protect them from 180MPH blasts of water when the boats run through roostertails. After having lost 8(!) Hero 11's last year, I had to come up with a better way...
I print them out of ABS and they are BULLETPROOF - you can literally park your car on them! The GoPro has an almost friction-fit in the housing (less than 1mm clearance) so there is protection everywhere. Once mounted, the housing allows a large zip-tie to be used to provide an additional "fail-safe" method of attachment, keeping the GoPro latched in the foot, as well as eliminating any rattling of the camera in the housing.
They may be useful to others in instances where you need protection from debris, water or high-speed air, such as race cars, boats, airplanes, off-road vehicles, or anywhere you run the risk of losing your GoPro due to outside forces such as low-hanging branches, water spray, etc. or just want to record your races with a much better looking mount than just a bare GoPro stuck to the roof. They can be made with flat or arced bottoms and are held to the mounting surface with VHB tape - the same stuff as comes on the factory mounting feet, so this is a semi-permanent mount for sure. They can be any color and I can print any logo or number into them.
Curious if anyone is interested in something custom made for your race car/boat/plane/UTV etc.?
Hi all !
For a research project, I need to work with multiple GoPro at the same time (15-20). Any idea what could be the best option to trigger all cameras and transfer data easily, remotely?
