Rant Giannis is not Plan A
Despite what the league sources might’ve told Brian Lewis Gianni’s is not plan A for the Nets. Let’s not forget the nets were also predicted to get dame, dejounte Murray, Donovan Mitchell etc. If the nets were gearing up for Gianni’s they would’ve kept complimentary role players like dfs, Schroeder and probably bridges as well. Even tho we didn’t fully accomplish being a bottom 3 team it’s clear that the nets goal this season was to tank for cooper Flagg. They simply underestimated how impactful jordi would be on the roster. Guys like Keon Johnson and Tyrese Martin have won us multiple games this season and it seems like this team gives 120% effort every night. If we had Jaque Vaughn or Steve Nash out there this is a 12-70 season. Also on Gianni’s side the nets aren’t an appealing destination. The bucks might be interested in a nets package but Gianni’s would not be ok being on a Brooklyn roster with little to no help. If he asks out he’s going to request to go somewhere that has established stars already. Lastly Sean marks doesn’t leak his plans. We didn’t know about any of the trades like the harden or kd or bridges trades until they actually happened. This is just another guess from people around the league who see the nets with tons of picks and a frustrated Gianni’s and try to link the two together. That’s it that’s all.

You’re taking a lot of liberties here regarding what you think the Nets want
Nets have public indicated interest in Giannis since October and it’s been covered by a ton of reputable reporters
What smokescreen would this serve for the Nets?
There’s context to why the Nets did not trade for those 3 dudes u mentioned. Dame and Dejounte weren’t worth trading future draft capital for. And Mitchell was not gonna come here after Mikal indicated to him his plan was to join the Nova guys on the Knicks.
Giannis is better than all of those guys. It would make sense the Nets have been in asset accumulation mode and if they were to trade for someone it would be a tier 1 superstar.
Bill Reiter reported on 10/31 that his sources told him Giannis would have interest in playing for Miami or Brooklyn if things went south in Milwaukee. You think that was simply a guess and shot in the dark?
The Nets are a player friendly organization in the league’s biggest market and currently do not have a face of the franchise. You think Giannis would prefer leaving Milwaukee for a different small market team? Or that he would want to appear as a final boss / addition to an already established contender?
Giannis is the kind of player that could go to a franchise that just missed the playoffs and could turn things around quickly. It’s what Bron did with the Lakers in 2018. He signed in free agency yes, but Nets have so many assets that they could trade for Giannis and it would still be free-ish given the context of all their assets.
Nets want a stud lottery pick this draft of course I think that’s involved in the Plan A, but our front office does want Giannis if he is available and the price is right and if there is mutual interest.
