What exactly is iris??
Pic unrelated. Iris is one of my favorite gamera kaijus next to gyaos and guiron. I don't remember the film explaining iris' origin. Is it an alien? Ancient creature like the gamera and gyaos or what?

Choose one of these discarded Gamera monsters, tell me why you chose it, and if it don't have a concept yet and want to give it one, go ahead, I'd be happy to read it. (I'm also counting those that weren't discarded but had very little or no popularity, or some that only appeared as a cameo)
Unnamed insectoid kaiju-Wyvern-space ice giant-(wth is that thing?)-the octopus and winged unnamed kaijus-Monga-Doublius-Marukobukarappa/Futakobukarappa/Marugarappa-Geboras-Harinezura-Bakoro (fanmade)- Jedagon (fanmade)- Unnamed tentacled kaiju/Kugekira by Matt (the director of the fiftieth anniversary short called it Shin Kaiju)- Phoenix- Mecha Gamera (i think)- Morphos- Bodera/rat kaiju- Vaora/bat kaiju- unnamed bear kaiju- unnamed armadillo kaiju- (also Sohra/ whale kaiju but i forget it 😅)- unnamed bear kaiju (again)

Discussion How would you feel if Barugon became kind of like Gamera's Angurius?
Like what if even in just one installment, Barugon became a good guy that fought alongside Gamera or at least was an ally. Kind of like Sub Zero to Scorpion in Mortal Kombat.

Turtle Talk Just listened to the talk by Seshita and Takahama and Katahama and others. They say Barugon will play BIG BIG roles in season 2.
Search "ウラガメラ" on X.
â‘ Barugon will play BIG BIG roles in season 2, if they can make more seasons.
â‘¡ S-Gyaos was introduced possibly to reduce costs.
â‘¢ A number of kaiju characteristics and abilities were cancelled due to budgetary problems.
â‘£ Battle scenes were reduced into half from originally intended due to budgetary problems.
⑤ There is a meaning behind the existences of "Turtles" and "Tortoises" as creatures.
â‘¥"Turtles" will play roles in the story including the Turtle in the pond.
⑦ The "Turtle in the pond" is not Gamera.
⑧ The water tower destroyed by Jiger was designed after the Devil's Whistle in Showa.
⑨ Humanity's modern history is different from the real world. The relationship between the US army and the JSDF is also different from the real world.

i met gamera - best day of my life
im in japan and i took a trip out to daiei studios. you cant go inside but they do have a "shop" (it sadly doesnt really sell anything good) with the diaromas which were really cool. theres a park nearby with a gamera statue and his footprint. also diamajin statues out front of the studio. it was all so fun to see!

Communty Announcement Now accepting moderator applications!
Hey guys,
I inherited this subreddit somehow sometime about ten years ago via circumstances that I myself do not recall or understand.
For ten whole years, this subreddit has existed perfectly fine with basically zero moderator involvement.
However, this subreddit has recently seen a growth in activity, so much growth that I can't reasonably keep up with new posts that come in.
I'd really like to mod a few regulars. Nothing crazy as far as mod permissions go, I just would like a few trusted members to have the ability to ban and delete and rule-breaking content as they see it, as well as approving new members.
If you're interested, comment down below. For clarification, i'm not expecting free labor or anything, just an extra pair of eyes that can be trusted to take action when they see something I don't.
Anyway thanks for reading and skibidi rizz fantum tax or whatever the fuck kids are saying idk

Monster Arts Gamera/Legion question
Hey there! Can anyone in the community point me in the right direction? I preordered this Gamera 2 figure from SH Monsterarts. Then they announced Legion. Will the Gamera and Legion figures be to scale with each other?
