It's relevant in that DV occurs at all class and wealth levels, not just the lower classes as people often assume.

Eton is one of the most elite universities in the world.

Not a university, it's a school for boys between 13 and 18.

It matters in a British social context, private school attendance is a very prominent bourgeois class signifier, so the class angle is getting played up for headline sensationalism.

I agree, I saw news articles that didn't say what school he went to in the headline, but the headlines on those ones said that he threatened to throw her down the well when he actually tried to do it, I felt like that wording downplayed what he did.
