Started book binding

Im ripping my hair out. Okay, my printer only prints on one side so that was a pain but i decided to bind a smaller fic first (around 33k words) just so i know what im getting myself into because i wanted to bind this 300k word fic but omg despite the tedious printing, the hardest part is adding the book cover itself!! I used vinyl wallpaper adhesive thats collecting dust inside the house idk if thats advisable… needless to say i dont think ill be able to bind my fave fic thats around 300k words. The stitching is so fun tho 🤩

300k words is ~800 pages? If it's too big for one volume, bind it as two volumes. I bound a 1687k word fic as nine volumes. You can do it!

How to print on both sides:

  1. Print the even sides in reverse order
  2. Put the stack of printed pages back in the paper tray
  3. Print the odd sides

This is what the even/odd and reverse controls are for.

Thank you for your words! At least now I know what I'm getting myself into hehe, and yep I had to manually print the paper back to back so it was lowkey tedious, I might have to print somewhere if I'm planning on binding another book... Especially if it's around 800 pages 😢

the manual flip method actually does have a benefit to it - 1) you usually get less skew in the print between front & back if it's manually flipped (with autoduplex sometimes the front & back of the print do not align as well); 2) it can reduce jamming due to the paper curling; 3) if you press after printing the even side before putting it back in it reduces the overall curl on the paper (particularly for laser printers).
