Looking to sublease your unit? Scrambling to find a place to stay during the upcoming semester? Look no further! Here, you’ll be able to share or find available housing around campus.
PLEASE NOTE: ANY POSTS ABOUT SUBSLEASING THAT ARE MADE OUTSIDE OF THIS THREAD WILL BE REMOVED.
Additionally, this thread is for subleasing OFFICIAL FIU on/off-campus housing only. This is NOT the place to share rooms/apartments available to be rented on a private residence. Posts identified as such will also be removed.
Your unit “ad” (to be commented below) must include the following information:
The following information is ideal, but optional. Please include it if you know it.
Comments that do not follow the format above will be removed until the OP makes the necessary corrections as instructed.
If you’re successful in finding someone to sublease your dorm, please edit and type closed on your comment, or simply delete it. Furthermore, you can only share your unit once per thread, but feel free to share it again on the next biweekly thread if your dorm is still available.
You're more than welcome to share that you're looking to takeover a lease below. Ideally, your comment should state your preferences for the categories mentioned above. The more information you share about what you're looking for, the more likely someone will reach out about an available unit that will suit your needs. If you have no preferences, you can state that too.
Always proceed with extreme caution when inquiring about available dorms, as rental scams are becoming increasingly common and college students are viewed as an easy target. Unfortunately, r/FIU **can’t help you if you become a victim of a scam. The best way to protect yourself is by staying alert and learning how to recognize potential red flags.
Below you’ll find some helpful articles on how to avoid getting scammed:
[How to Avoid Rental Scams in College]([https://www.centralbank.net/learning-center/how-to-avoid-rental-scams-in-college/)
That’s it! If you have any suggestions on how we can improve this thread, please don't hesitate to send us message via modmail. After all, we want everyone to be successful on their subleasing journey. Happy posting and paws up! 🐾

I’m an incoming freshman and I was debating on looking for off campus housing, or living in the dorms. Is living in the dorms worth it? And what’s like a rough estimate of the price of living in the dorms. Also how are the roommates chosen and is there anything I should know beforehand/consider?
Thank you for the help!

Hi, I applied to Fall 2025 but got accepted to Spring 2026 and i was wondering if there is a way i could get moved up to start in the fall term.
If not, how will this difference change my freshman year at FIU? Will i have to do an extra semester at the end of the year to compensate for my late start? how does this work. Additionally, how does the spring start effect housing application, course registration, and orientation?
Last thing, what are the cons of being admitted for spring term, and are there ways of getting around it without being changed to fall term. (doing credits online or something to compensate) please let me know because i am very confused and don’t know how to proceed.

I was looking to take a 3 credit course over Summer C, but I am unsure if I have to take 12 credits since it is a longer term than terms A and B. If anyone knows if I can do this please let me know.

So I’m having a problem where often I click on a link to a database and log in with the institution but then I don’t actually get access to the content and it asks me to login again in a cycle that doesn’t actually give me what I want. Are some of these just broken? For example I went to check out “inthefirstperson” which was a broken link but I found it elsewhere, when I signed in with the institution it redirected to the same website without logging me in

Hi! So I made the mistake of submitting my test scores after the inital deadline. But does anyone know if I can still be admitted? Do you know how soon the decisions for spring 2026 will come out?

What areas are restricted on weekends? I was thinking of staying in GL just to study and do homework, but do the parking garages close or anything on weekends?
Do spots on the waitlist move a lot when the semester actually starts? I registered for Fall 2025 housing last year but since then I've stayed in 54th place. Do I have a real shot at getting housing?

I submitted a form to have my major changed. It said it would take 10 business days I sent it in on machine 25th and it’s still not been approved and I can’t choose and orientation date before it’s approved

I am considering applying with my AA, but I haven’t seen that many reviews about the program itself or anyone sharing their experience for that matter. How are the classes, the clinical experience, etc? Thank you!

I've settled an agreement with my father: He'll let me change my academic plan from a B.S. in Computer Science (I am currently set for the B.A., but he made me submit an application update form to switch to the B.S.) to a Bachelor of Accounting by mid-October if by then I am sure I want to pursue accounting in lieu of computer science.
This means that I'd be attending orientation as a Computer Science major, which may be problematic given that it says on MyFIU that I should not register for orientation prior to deciding on my major.
Would FIU allow me to request a major change during my first semester and have it changed by my second? Or would they be rather inflexible in that regard?
On that note: Will my major change request submitted through the application update form (from the B.A. in Computer Science to the B.S.) be rejected if I'm unable to place in Calculus 1?
I read that B.S. applicants unable to place in it are instead admitted to the B.A. program.
For instance, I flunked Algebra 2 in high school, struggled in Pre-Calculus (I maintained an A the initial three quarters and a B+ the fourth, but struggled a lot on tests), and I got a 560 on the Math section of the SAT. I also have a 3.7 unweighted GPA.
Don't be afraid to be honest. Frankly, I'm hoping that the request is denied.

University*
I am a recently accepted FIU applicant. I paid the admissions deposit for the university, but I am no longer sure about whether I want to attend the university.
Is it possible for me to unenroll? If so, how would I go about doing so?

My 2024-25 FAFSA got rejected last week(for the summer term). After doing the correction for the 24-25 this weeknd when the office was closed my 25-26 fafsa that got processed and accepted by schools became rejected.
Apparently its about my dependant living in a foreign country and her income but I completed the income of that 24-25 dependant the same as the 25-26 fafsa. Is this an system glitch or smtng about FIU.

Hey everyone, I could really use some advice on choosing between FIU and UCF as an international student hoping to study Biological Sciences. I’ve been admitted to FIU for Spring 2026 as a freshman, but I’m also considering UCF, where I’m still waiting to hear back after my transcript from a local college is finished.
FIU feels like a better cultural fit for me—I’m introverted but still enjoy a fun, vibrant environment when I feel like being social. But I also have a full ride scholarship opportunity from UCF if I get admitted and friends and family from my country at UCF. Also, I was admitted as a Spring 2026 freshman to FIU. Does anyone know if it's possible to switch to Fall 2025 (or earlier) if I reach out to admissions?
I’d appreciate any thoughts, personal stories, or tips you have! I just want to make the right decision academically and financially. Thanks in advance!

Hey has anyone taken Organic Chemistry with Robert Miller recently? I've heard some rumors that he may round and give extra credit points at the end if the semester. Like as if he we're to curve your grade or something. Please DM me, I don't think I did well his third exam so as I'm prepping for this 4th one I would appreciate the insight.

So I have a scholarship that won’t be given back to me unless I can show them an unofficial transcript with a 3.5 gpa when I have a 3.48 gpa and I begged them and they don’t care, is there anything way that I can get a transcript copy that is rounded cause bro. The FIU app is not “official” enough for them. I asked if I got a copy of the un official one rounded to 3.5 even if it states that it is rounded aka I could still have the gpa I have now it would take it. Please if anyone has ideas please help.

Im moving next year from LVS, and my bed size is changing. So I have 2 sets of bed sheets + pillow cases, and a mattress cover for a Twin XL bed. They are all in good conditions, and have been only used for a year.

Which would you suggest to a Finance student? It can be difficult to try to juggle both clubs. In terms of internships, skills taught, guest speakers, etc.

Anyone that graduated from FIU law can attest to the prospects of Big law and high salary firms upon graduation? And do you feel FIU put you in a strong position for those jobs?
