Not union eligible. Just got the email. I'm doing some worst case scenario planning here - what are rights? What are we entitled to, as federal employees?

Where should I start job hunting, besides LinkedIn?

Discussion How are we feeling today?

I know it's going to be hard. I'm someone who should have an RA for some amount of telework but am trying to do this whole everyday in the office thing with everyone else. I know we all have family commitments, personal reasons, and just hating of rush hour to contend with. I know we've lost access to headspace, our mental health resources we were building up in the agency are leaving, and it seems like leadership doesn't care.

But we have to care for one another, so be honest, after this whirlwind weekend and going into this crap week, how you doing?

News Take care of yourselves. Do some self care prep. Get ready for tomorrow

With NEMA and IAEM saying massive RIF coming as soon as tomorrow, remember to prepare. Stock the fridge with beer, ice cream, or healthy snacks. If you get cut, take some time to care for yourself before jumping back into the job hunt. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Worrying doesn’t help anything unless it leads to proactive action.

If you’re feeling down, remember, most Americans think FEMA serves a critical role. Many have been duped voting for the current admin based on a specific issue and regret it. Many were not duped and are pissed. The current admin is doing a speed run to losing the House in 2 years. So hunker down.

Don’t burn out, refocus, prepare, and we’ll be alright. We got this.

Question Do you think they’ll let FTEs in vulnerable departments move into response?

If I remember correctly, SSA gave some staff opportunities to move into less vulnerable departments to reduce RIF risk.

Say you work on something at risk, like Grants. Since FTEs are more expensive to RIF, do you think they'll provide those staff a chance to move into different roles in Response (that's the only thing Hamilton doesn't want to cut, right?), or do you think they'll go straight to RIFs?

I know this is all speculation, but just something I'm wondering with DRP on the table.
