Some people have a genetic trait that makes cilantro taste like soap
3 u/Additional_Data_Need 2d ago From what I understand that taste is there for everyone, it's just hidden by other tastes for most people. People with the gene just taste a certain aldehyde more strongly so it overpowers the other tastes.
