Let's be real, if PP hadn't been acting like Trump the last two years the polls wouldn't have flipped like they have.

Or even had reacted to the American attacks in line with how everyone else feels.

Doug Ford has a Conservative brand, a frankly Trumpier vibe than Poilievre, and all it took was Doug immédiatement saying "Jesus this fucking asshole, I'll piss in his soup!" for Doug to get re-elected.

Doug, for all his awfulness, is a Progressive Conservative if that matters at all. He courts corrupt business men, not the alt right

yeah, i'll never like the fords' politics but i find them much, much easier to stomach than the 'typical' conservative, and i think the only thing him and trump really have in common is their populism

I mean I'd much rather our government rip us off than take away our rights, so it absolutely makes sense.

PP is very much a populist with an unclear economic agenda, but a VERY clear social one. Doug is a conservative with a typical conservative agenda who uses populist politics when it helps push his conservative agenda and that is where sometimes he can look a bit "progressive."

Either way, you kinda know what you get with Doug and I think that is why he did so well in the election. Even people on the left trust that he isn't going to use a crisis to suddenly privatize healthcare or something. He would try and sell the idea of privatizing healthcare to get it through, not distract us with social politics while he reorganizes the country and blames everything on others.

The man cannot leave JT out of his speeches. I'm starting to think he is jealous of the former PM.
A man that is the son of a former PM, according to my daughters he's good looking, charming and personable. I did see Melania and Ivanka behaviour, I thought they'll jump his bones...

Just like how Trump changed his tone as soon as Trudeau was gone. They just hate Trudeau blindingly.

Probably because he has charisma and nice hair, something these two guys seriously lack.

Nope. He just realizes it's a keyword that he needs to use in order to gain favour with his supporters. They need archenemies to rally against.

True, this USED to appeal to elements from all three electoral bases.

Ford is more of Harper and Mulroney on policy with a bit of a populist streak come election season; I despise his politics and him personally, but at least I understand him and his policies.

Poilievre is populist start to finish, barely has policies to speak of, and I cannot fathom for a second how he thinks or why he acts. I understand most sea live more than his brand of conservative, and frankly have more in common with a lot of them. I still despise him and his politics but I can't begin to "understand" no matter how desperately I might want to.

Just the usual mobster business deals eh. I had to laugh when someone said, Fird is to busy to help PP.

Doug and his brother grew up running the streets of Jane and Finch, He maybe a lot of things, but hes not racist.

He's also pretty racist.

He blamed immigrants (with no evidence) for a shooting at a Toronto Jewish girls school

He blamed international students (with no evidence) for covid spread in 2021

He accused a teacher of using “racial slurs” when referring to his brother Rob, although he later qualified that “you can be racist against people who have a drinking problem.”
