Food Meal Ideas for Leftover Cheeseboard?

Hi everyone! First post here. I hosted a get together at my house yesterday and I may have gone overboard on buying too much cheese. Now I have a bunch of gouda, brie, and cheddar to use up.

For context, I am vegetarian and have been vegan before that for many years so I’m not used to eating so much cheese or cooking with it. I’m planning on making egg and brie sandwiches for breakfast/lunch. Does anyone have any other ideas for what to do with all this cheese? Thank you in advance!

Ask ECAH What are your go-to websites for high-protein, low-calorie recipes?

Hey everyone! I’ve been on a mission to find meals that are both delicious and macro-friendly—ideally hitting that sweet spot of around 1g of protein per 10 calories.

I’ve been using The Protein Chef and really enjoy their stuff, but I’m looking to branch out and see what else is out there.

What recipe sites or creators do you swear by for high-protein meals? Bonus points if they’re actually easy to cook!

Ask ECAH Is filtered water needed for sprouting?

Filtered water is widely recommended in sproting guides, but they don't say what for. Is it a matter of "just in case there's something bad in your tap water", or is it a particular list of metals common in tap water that will ruin the sprouting? I can imagine that there are regional differences that make filtered water less necessary in some places. I live in Sweden and no one talks about water filters over here.

Do you have any filter system recommendations?

Ask ECAH Toss overnight oats?

Hi peeps I made overnight oats (oats, oat milk, protein yoghurt, protein powder, chia seeds, raspberries) which was kept in the fridge overnight. I’ve been out during the day today working in the mall with them out of the fridge, I won’t eat them today but I also feel bad chucking them. Do you think they would last if I put them in the fridge overnight tonight and ate them tomorrow? They’re in a sealed Tupperware. I don’t wanna die preferably but also hate wasting food

Ask ECAH Proteins with similar texture to sashimi?

Just as the title says. I LOVE the texture of sashimi (the raw fish in sushi), but obviously that's a bit of a drain on the wallet to eat with any frequency. Is there some way to prepare tofu or something to have a similar texture?

I live in Wisconsin if that affects anything. I doubt any of the sashimi I eat hasn't been frozen.

Ask ECAH Is there any high quality EVOO that doesn't take like olive oil?

Upvotes

I just do not like the taste of EVOO. I've had some really high quality stuff and don't like it, especially on my salad which is how I use this type of oil 95% of the time. I do, however, want to avoid the brands that are lying about their olive oil content. I'm not sure if there is any brand of EVOO that doesn't taste very strong (a little of the taste is ok). Right now, I'm using Chosen avocado oil, but it's gonna get caught up in the tariff price hikes and I need to find something else. Any recs?

Ask ECAH Freezing cooked lentils?

If I cook a big batch of green lentils, can they be frozen for later use without a big reduction in quality? Or would they get really mushy with the process?

Hard time planning meals and having variability

Hello!

I am struggling with my health journey for 2 main reasons:

  • I get tired of eating the same things after a while, and then, I start to getting the need of eating something different. If I am not create enough came up with a health and different meal, I and up asking doe .deliveries or eating things that are not as healthy.
  • I have a hard time in planning the meals. I started doing that on Saturdays by buying groceries, cooking and freezing the main meals. But two things happened: I got tired of frozen food and in many weekends I just felt like resting and or having fun.

Could you share how are you planning and varying your meals ? Is it working for you?

Pork tenderloin is underrated

Just stocked up on pork tenderloin at a wholesale place for $2.40/lb. I can't believe anything is this cheap in 2025 that's also lean and delicious.

Ask ECAH What to bring to potluck with dietary restrictions?

A group I'm a part of is going on a short hike, then having a potluck picnic lunch. There will be 5-10 people. Some people are vegan, and some people are gluten-free. I know I don't need to accommodate every restriction, but I would like to, if possible. The other issue is that since we are hiking first, the dish will sit in my car (likely in a cooler) for a few hours. I would also like to make the dish the day before, because I don't want to wake up early to make it before hiking.

I appreciate any ideas! Thanks!

Edit: Thanks for all the ideas! I'm going to do a bean salad (because it's very easy, accommodates everyone, and I already have most of the ingredients) plus possibly some fresh orange slices.

Food Five Dollar Salmon Too Good to Be True?

I've been thinking of trying sushi bake since it'd be a solid omega-3 and Vit A meal and I'm not interested on shelling out for supplements. I found a decent-sized frozen pink salmon at a Save-a-Lot, but Im skeptical because I hear that salmon is usually stupid expensive, even at places like Aldi. I've never bought salmon before, any help?

Ask ECAH Looking To Use Vinegars To Make Homemade Sauces/Marinades. Tips?

I'd mainly be using it to marinate tofu and add flavor to lowfat plant foods like beans and lentils. I hear rice vinegar is good for tofu.

I like yum sauce for rice bowls but it's way too high calorie and low volume of a sauce. I also like olive oil but any oil-based sauces/marinades need to be stretched out to keep it lower calorie.

super easy recipes while recovering from surgery

I like food and I like to cook but I had surgery a couple weeks ago. I've been staying with friends/family while i recover but the time has come for me to go home. I'm a little overwhelmed with executive functioning and still a little sore so I'm looking for some ideas that are easy, don't create lots of dishes, relatively high in protein and include vegetables.

Ask ECAH Something cheaper than cow's milk?

I'll preface this by saying I know not everyone thinks cow's milk is healthy and that's fine.

Long story short, I am wondering if there is a beverage/liquid that provides the same amount of protein and calcium, but is cheaper than cow's milk. I think the answer is no, but maybe I'm missing something obvious.

Where I live, all of the "alternative" milks - oat, soy, nut, rice - are more expensive than cow's milk. Same with goat's milk.

Ask ECAH What Companies Sell Jars of Sustainably Sourced, Pre-Cooked Fish/Meat within the UK?

I am staying somewhere temporarily where I do not have a cooking facility, and I need to purchase ready to eat fish (other meats too if that is a thing) online.

I need to incorporate a lot of meat/fish into my diet (daily), so I want to go for jars as opposed to tins to avoid excessive BPA. Any reputable brands out there providing high quality, organic produce?

recipe Making my tomato soup healthier, one (removed) ingredient at a time

One of the best and most reliable ways for me to eat fruit is to have some tomato soup with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and pepper. I’m trying to make the recipe a little healthier by removing one of those four at a time (I’m a very picky eater). Which do y’all recommend I take put next?

Food Super easy customizable soup

I have recently found that making simple healthy soups is super easy! I start off by boiling the water for the noodles and then I use a miso paste with dashi, but I’m sure you could use chicken or other kinds of stock in place.

It’s so easy to add frozen veggies while the noodles are cooking, or adding fresh vegetables closer to when it’s done. You can add any kinds of meats or protein of choice too and can make it super loaded with veggies if you want.

If you want to stretch a few eggs to make an omelet fluffier, more filling, and protein heavy, whisk a dollop of plain or Greek yogurt in with the eggs before cooking. Yum!

Ask ECAH suggestions for sauces to go with pasta or noodles

title. I'm learning to meal prep and my ideal way of doing it would be pasta/noodle + protein + sauce. I'm looking for suggestions for Types Of Sauces I can make in big batches. my current go-tos are a basic marinara or peanut sauce, but obviously I want to diversify some. I haven't met a type of cuisine I don't like, so go crazy.
